Overall a great first season that struggles a bit to cram all the info the viewer needs in, but has a strong cast and story to keep you invested.
What I liked:
The cast are good if a touch cheesy at times
Not too toned down and kid friendly, there are darker more adult parts
The story is great and the twists well executed
Unique enough twist on the usual magic types, along with great setting
What I didn’t like too much:
The series really struggles to give the viewer the info they need to totally follow the story. At many times it feels this background and context is skimmed over briefly leaving you a little confused and filling in the blanks.
As with the above I feel like more minor characters miss out on some characterisation and background and we are supposed to just accept they are bad just because.
The story involving Nina appears entirely detached from the main plot. As far as I can tell she was sent on a mission by Kerrigan, which we learn nothing of and the end hints her story will be more involved in the future but it just felt like what was the point of that whole story strand.
