awful. Charmless flaccid direction absolutely fails to capture any of the quirky whimsy of the books or earlier film, flat performances, including Hathaway, rob it of any chance at redeeming itself.
avoid if you value your time.
Haven't watched the anime, have no real desire too. If you're like me and enjoy a slick, fantasy scifi with a lot of humour you'll probably enjoy this. Shame it's not cut it for fans of the original and we're not getting a follow up live actions.
Absolutely mind numbing, don't confuse this with an amusing film for kids and adults, this is for kids and kids alone. And probably stupid kids at that.
So so so bad, it's a film with a reading age for fourteen year olds chock full of references for fourty year olds. I was embarrassed to be in the cinema for it.
