Damn what an awesome part that was when the pro wrestler beat the crap out of Mira and how Mira even when she lost her sword she was able to use aerial ace on the wrestler an call it "ooga booga sword without sword move 69" one shoting her in the process. Also martial art tournament with stands .......very cool.
First of all , I love the Johnny English movies. The thing I liked about them was that both the previous movies had jokes in pretty much every scene. Basically a scene could seem completely normal and have some little detail in the background or a joke that you'd get if you watched these films twice or more. Not that I'm trying to say that the Johnny English films are some super sophisticated comedy that you need to use your 300 iq to understand but it is clear that they were intended to be watched more than once if you want to get every little detail. A good example of this is the opening scene in the first movie where johnny gets lost in the MI7 while the viewer probably focuses more on the music or the titles. All this attention to detail, combined with a good standard plot and jokes that actually worked made these series the perfect comedy ,at least for me.Which is why I always couldn't get why critics and audience alike didn't think very highly of them and considered them as just bellow mediocre comedies. So after spending all this time talking about the other films , the only thing I can say about this one is that it just felt empty. What you saw was exactly what you got and for the first time rewatching it isn't even worth it (even though I'm not 100% sure about that but its highly unlikely). Most of the jokes were flat or reused from the first movie and the "villain" felt like just a high tech version of Pascal Sauvage. It's really a shame when the thing that made me laugh the most was that VR scene, that I had already seen from the trailer. They also felt the need for some reason to use that roblox "oof" sound effect when they were at that restaurant and Johnny was trying to take the shell of that lobster (there was also darude sandstorm but whatever ). Even though this might not be the best review of this movie because it's closer to a rant , my last thoughts on it are that it was just rushed , empty and mostly uninteresting. Its really not a bad movie on its own but it just fails to compete with the other two.
Maybe the first actually good episode of the second part of re that was neither rushed nor diverted from its source material. This episode is proof that the studio can either make only good scenes that don't include fights or that they most likely don't have any budget for this show and that they are trying to somehow make it work .
The only good thing about this episode was the *ITS ME THE CHIEF * scene ,that was the only part I hoped they wouldn't cut out. In general this episode and the whole season is a mess and they barely give context on anything that goes on. I have completely stoped caring about the fights anymore since they only consist of still frames of jumping and random slashes and I'm surprised I didn't notice that in earlier episodes. And they didn't even show how Furuta slowly schemed his way in becoming the CCG leader.
This is an action movie that has nothing more to offer than a series of mindless killing scenes. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the movie and the people I watched it with did too. But the reason we had fun wasn't because of how good the movie was but because of the characters "badassery" and how afraid everyone was of him , so we basically were making fun of the movie most of the time. To be honest this movie works better as an action comedy since it had some funny scenes, that I still don't know if they were meant to be funny or just turned out that way. Now as for the plot of the movie [spoilers] even though I understand the reason as for why john wick wants revenge from the people that killed his dog I still believe that at the end of the film the Russian mafia (or whatever they are ) were in the right . John wicks dog might have been the last gift from his dead wife, but a dogs life compared to all these random thugs , these other assassins and the son of the boss isn't even that important . And I am just defending them because john wick isn't some good guy either. Just from these two evils John Wick was the one who went too far while the main "villain" of our story wanted to just protect his stupid son. Maybe I am just thinking too much into it though since this movie isn't based on plot but action and the whole dog killing was just the way for the writers to explain his motivations ( that still seem ridiculous to me to some extend ). All this aside if you just want to watch a movie to relax at some evening after a hard day that doesn't need much attention then I definitely recommend this one.
