One of the best films. Classic!!
Concept is super cool and the ending is good enough but the focus on being an action movie is a let down. The movie also didn’t have to vilify the antagonist so much. The actual antagonist is capitalism.
I don’t get the point of slashers like this.
I don’t think it was very good. The directors intentions are focused on blaming the individuals not capitalism enough.
Higher rating than normally given because of being surprised by the film not being bad and it didn't do that well on the box office. Unfortunate since it is a unique and new IP and was better than competing films like the video game adventure film Uncharted
Awful. Makes me think of the status quo now where top (or you know 95%+ of them) congress people can feign interest in social justice like when some of them wore African clothing and did poses...while those same people continued making millions upon millions without a care for the normal every day citizen.
This film is set in a dystopia that most characters don't appear to even recognize as being as dystopian as it is. Don't worry, there's a cute "progressive" story wedged in.
Worst of the worst. Smug. Hypocritical. Writing down to audience as if they are children
They are the richest country in the world but they keep everything to themselves? No wonder Trump people and Fox liked the movie. It's the opposite of inclusive or kind. The reasoning given for their behavior appears righteous and doesn't appear to be true. It seems to be rationalizing bad behavior. Behavior otherwise seen as awful in the real world.
It isn't clear if this is or isn't an authoritarian regime either. We know it's a monarchy with silly rules for who leads.
The "good guys" could easily be seen as bad guys. There's likely destitute people all around the outside of their advanced beyond first world country. That's messed up.
I replied to someone, but it fits as its own comment too. Edge of Tomorrow is more popular and appears to have a better legacy. I don't think that's warranted. Edge of Tomorrow is bad ass. Source Code is better.
My comment:
"Most of Edge of Tomorrow is a lot cooler. The ending is a lot weaker than Source Code and in general. Cruise's character is the one that has full memory, yet Emily Blunt's stone cold character is the one that kisses him is weak. That saps the "happy" ending for me as well. Though I didn't like the ending regardless lol.
I read the synopsis of the book. It doesn't dismiss the female character back into age old ways. Source Code is the better film to me."
Why did I watch this to completion lol. Hardcore procrastination. Like one of the other people said. I knew what I was getting. So what else did I expect.
I never zone out of watching stuff. I can't do background TV re-runs when trying to do anything even semi-productive because I'll just focus too much on the show. But I got so annoyed and bored at the show by the end of the last episode and into this one. Bad idea to try binging the show. I knew the characters are supposed to be flawed, but at this point it's too much with how useless Number 1 and to a lesser extent number 2 is. Number 3 doesn't use her main power so she's pretty useless too. Number 4 is still learning more about his, but it makes no sense why he was included as mattering for his entire life so far when his powers were barely used. Just being able to talk to dead people doesn't make you much of a traditional superhero. How would he have regularly helped out the squad when they were younger and a team? The stupidity of number 5 keeping incognito about everything has gotten so annoying. Number 7 it's at least shown enough that she was messed with so her stupidity is at least sort of bearable. I get they are all screwed up. But it hasn't been shown enough how screwed up and how much their father/society messed with them to empathize with them enough. Number 5 is the only other possible one since he was mostly alone for 40+ years. Other things like not really showing why Number 1 is seen as the leader of the crew is annoying too. Perhaps some flashbacks of him being the point man would've helped.
I'll probably read the spoilers for the last few episodes at some point if I don't get back to the show when season 2 comes out. And then watch the last episode.
So many questions unanswered. Like so many! The ending doesn't help either. Hopefully more seasons come.
#listenedtoguest #guest About groupthink. Heh. Love the topic so can't not watch it. Cass Sunstein seems great. Very interesting what he said happens to people of like minded [politics], who talk in one group, etc. People become more ideological, etc. Their diversity decreases etc. His book is "Wiser". Should add it on GoodReads.
Think this is the last ep?
6 skits I think in this one
Lol. Classics again. Initial poor man's chappelle show skit on social racial bs. Then classic #luugers dicking ya over with High on Potenuse. Shakespeare was pretty deece too. Especially BSG cameo. Pulling my dick not exactly an awesome skit or anything but another catch phrase for me to use. Then the sports/nfl satire was pretty good too. Much better with watching the actual show vs individual skits. So can hear their pre-skit stuff relating to the skit. Haha and then same thing again with the end skit of messing with their coworker and then lol the PC skit. classic douches. And then lol normally I don't care for Obama anger skits but fucking with the high on Potenuse joke. Classic South Park and #luugers. Everything was deece or great in this episode. As long as the show is taken on its own vs comparing to Chappelle.
Lol. It is actually Boarding Group One, which is also so awesome #favs #skit. And of course #noice is also always amaze #favs #skit
