This is one of Stanley Kubrick's best films. A true horror movie without having to rely on jump scares or gimmicks. The score is truly unsettling and with the cuts of disturbing imagery it builds tension well. Jack Nicholson gives the performance of his career here. The Overlook Hotel is so unique. The attention to detail and production design is flawless.
This movie is already good on its own, but it becomes 10x better when you know what Patel went through to get it made.
The movie has already cemented itself as a classic of the vengeance subgenre, with echoes of Woo and Park Chan-wook, while bursting with enough originality for it to avoid feeling like a carbon copy.
It's a primal yell of a directorial debut from Dev Patel, already an underrated actor, who uses his unique experiences with religion and his own Indian heritage to bring the story of the film to life.
You can smell the blood and sweat wafting through the screen
That shit went hard, damn.
I don't think I've seen anything like that since The Raid movies? While it's not all on THAT level, nothing really ever came close. And first time (full movie) director Dev Patel? Mad props yo.
Face it guys we juat warched the movie for the red head
I want my own Jennifer Lawrence to pull me out of my shell and show me the ropes of life while also inadvertently becoming a close friend of mine in the process. Not a bad film by any stretch of the imagination and there were many moments that got an audible laugh out of me, it just lacks the completeness of the raunchy comedy classics it's emulating to swing for a higher score. It's still a fun time with enough heart to see you through to the finale, perfect streaming fodder when it inevitably makes its way there.
Liked everything except the ending. A 8/10 from me:white_check_mark:
it's really good! I never read any particularity about the story so it did surprise me! By the end of the film I was extremely frustrated.. and goddammit how I hate Rosemary husband..
My only hope she went on a killing spree following the end of the movie.. she got reasons to kill all them bastards.
This film is a alternative of the pixar film UP, how it should of been between the old man, and the boy ha so this is where Sam Neill got to, from hunting dinosaurs.. to now hunting wild pigs while on the run in the bush with a kid that calls him uncle.. This film takes you on a crazy, funny, wtf adventure, you also get a good sound track on the way, and you'll meet some weird characters on the way like Psycho Sam... yes that's what he calls himself..
It was a pretty entertaining movie. You can watch it one time but i didn't like that there was almost nothing information about how Source Code works or it's mechanism. So, it's a 7/10 for me....
Might take a while to get used to the myriad of characters. But it's important that you do. The story is quite intricate and deep, you might need to pause a bit to grasp the twists coming at you.
Bold attempt on a sensitive topic. Good movie with pleasant laughs.
This was such an experience to watch this movie. I've seen Heath Ledger's joker in TDK and it can go head to head with that. Although, both played Joker but were different in every possible way.... Overall, a solid 10/10 from me
Edward Nortan is fucking amazing in this role. Bravo:clap::clap::clap:
This is an alright one time horror flick. Acting was good, and plot was unpredictable at the end. Overall, a 6/10 from me....
This isn't just a movie. It's a emotion. Hats off to entire team of The Dark Knight Triology. The best movie I've ever seen in my life. Christian Bale is the most versatile and talented actor I've seen on television. Also, this movie is my personal favourite of the TDK Triology. A stunning conclusion to both Bruce Wayne and The Batman...
A Christopher Nolan movie about Albert Einstein's theories of gravity fields, wormholes and several hypotheses :O :O :O
Yaaaahoooooooo - I CAN NOT WAIT!
WATCHOUT FOR UNHIDEN SPOILERS BELLOW !
Users think that trakt is some sort of Facebook.
What an impressive movie: so many touching scenes and beautiful details.
I usually don't look Bollywood-movies, but this one is going for the top!
The best action film of the 2020s I've seen so far great cinematography and good music. The fight scenes are over the top but still fun and has that eye candy quality I crave. I watched on Netflix so it was dubbed into Hindi and not the original Telugu language. Bravo!
Just throw logic out the window and enjoy the film as it is. Lots of religious symbolism and torture sequences. But really well made. Amazing cinematography minus the obligatory flying fight scenes. Some hilarious scenes and very clean no vulgarity.
Black Death isn't a horror movie. It's a movie which gives us a perspective of Religions in medieval times. Black Death let us see how "God Of Men" interpreted natural disasters like plague and used it to deliver the message of God... Women were executed in the name of witches & serving devils. The part where Bishops of Christian church sends their man to kill people just because they were not sick was realistic. They just did to strengthen their authorities. This movie is more likely a "The dark side of Religion". Overall, although lacking in some parts like costumes and it's vague plot, Black Death is a fairly enjoyable movie ....
"You give, and you give, and you give. It's just never enough"
What a movie. It's so strange, unique and thought provoking, you can't help but love it. Jennifer Lawrence's performance was spectacular to say the least. Now I know why some people said that this movie isn't for everyone. I love how this movie described the humans, Mother Nature and God...
Mother: Mother Nature
Him: God
House: Probably Earth
Ed Harris: Adam
Michelle: Eve
Crystal: Forbidden Apple
Even Bully Maguire had his moments huh... SERIOUSLY, Tobey and Jack both gave wonderful performances. Specially the scene where Tommy flips always gives me goosebumps....
I'm not hundred per cent sure that I fully understand the story. The main story is complicated enough as it expands to more sub stories. Not only I need time to understand the story, there are so many characters involved in the story that I need to take time to recognise their connections with the story and also their relations among each other. As I still trying to grasp the storyline and the main characters, other new characters appearing and they have their own background stories as well.
Nevertheless, I have to admit that the movie deserves the fame. It's just that I need more patience and better analytical skill:smile:.
The Wind is a multilayered story and can be looked from multiple angles & you will still found a meaning. Even with its little budget, it still provide a genuine atmosphere with praiseworthy sound effects. Although, it's pacing is out here & there, it's still a good horror movie....
Over the top action with lots of drama but some amazing visuals and epic scale. This is India's biggest cinematic experience and deserves to watched on the big screen. It is more like the simple fairy tales on steroids!
