Besides the episode about Intersex this is quite awful but expected given that this is by Buzzfeed.
Wow... didn't expect this to be so bad. There are some beautiful backgrounds to look at here but that's about the praise this gets from me. Feels like Groening can't really progress as a writer. If maybe the leads had any chemistry then it would have been easier to get into it but as it stands I didn't even chuckle once and the jokes moreso were cringey given that fantasy setting this is supposed to takes place in.
Riding on the wave of Osomatsu-san this crashes hard for me...
Despite being produced by Studio BONES "Dragon Pilot" seems to have had little hype behind it. This is also the reason why I'd feel bad not commenting about it here. Not only does the show have a colorful design a bit different from others but also manages to deliver a fantasy/comedy hybrid with very few clichés attached to it. My worries that this would be some furry pandering show were for nothing ,).
In the days of legit shilling even some people who hated SOA would tell you this is better.... it's not. I'd argue it's even more offensive.
LLENN is a Mary Sue and just like the main show this is loaded with ass pulls and non-existent logic in it's world... The action scenes are extremely boring to watch and visually dull. Pito is an even worse villain than "I just wanted friends, LOL" guy as she made me want to scratch my eyes out after every dumb line of hers.
F* this show. Save Sigsawa-san.
Really not bad for a mascot show. It's quite simplistic but the characters are quirky enough to make things entertaining. The last arc dragged a bit but they are only 10 minute episodes anyways ;).
Absolutely comfy-core TV... despite launching with positive press apparently no one on trakt watched this. Too bad :/.
Dropped at Episode 2.
While tolerable this show is EXTREMELY repetitive as it only has the single joke for every segment. I would have preferred to see this as a short series instead.
This show is pretty far up it's own ass... While there is some commendable experimentation and variation present it can't overshadow the fact that most of it's "jokes" are not funny. Running every episode twice but with different voice actors is further evidence of this.
Mediocre at best loli slice of life that is at least innocent... Most of it is really just boring and repetitive and it doesn't help that Silver Link is definitely not at their A-game with tons of lazy shortcuts and off-model shots.
This is the kind of post-apocalyptic slife-of-life you will only ever get in anime format. Despite looking like it would be focused on war-themes it just sets the backdrop as it is more concerned with exploring the mysterious world they live in. While there are plenty of elements I despised it was still an enjoyable ride set to a great OST. It's closer to the original Kino's Journey than the remake this season...
Penned by NisiOisiN this is mostly a boring tournament show in the vein of Fate... just a bit more edgy (looking at you necromancer bunny). You shouldn't bother with this unless are shooting to see every action show ever. The format is repetitive (queue backstory, then fight!), the production is far from sleek and there isn't much to latch onto given the format otherwise.
If anime taught me anything then it's that it can make even the most apparent (subjective) boring things work. Unfortunately a lot of this was just not very exciting, part because of it's generic framework and imho muddled character interactions but also because of Production I.G not bringing their A-game.
What fanservice elements make up in female centered idol shows is here replaced by "we have jobs and hobbies because dudes". It's all a bit mundane for my tastes so I'll leave it at three episodes ;)... not that I should have started this show in the first place.
Pretty much your standard light novel adaptation with all of it's flaws.. the biggest one being that this isn't optimized at all for a 12 episode show and mostly wanders on fillter-tier content without proper resolution. I probably would have dropped this if I wasn't hoping for a certain character to become more active in the story.
While I didn't hate the show it has a weird tone as if your parents were trying to be edgy & cool but are still settling for family friendly goofs... The episodic nature keeps things somewhat interesting as it's the local residents whose interactions end up being especially cringeworthy.
Not really the most exciting gambling show as the games sort of happen without the viewer feeling much of an investment or really having much to guess about but damn are the facial expressions gold (very similar to Prison School).
I enjoyed the author's previous anime adaptation "The Comic Artist and His Assistants" and Aho-Girl is quite similar. While again not all jokes are always working; she's just so loud and void of common sense I can't help but feel entertained.
A cute show where it's easy to tune in.
The cooking recipes shown in the ending sequence are more interesting than the actual show.
Crunchyroll is looking to release all of the episodes on July 1st where as in Japan it will be broadcast weekly (http://cal.syoboi.jp/tid/4218/time) but was already released in comico at 360p.
Not that you're likely to produce anything substancial with 3 minute episodes but this show is pretty much scraping the bottom barrel of "cute girls doing cute things".
This is one of the shows I'm not quite sure why I even bothered. It starts out quite harmless with a rergular setup for either a coming of age or drama with bishis... some episodes later we're however quite deep in yaoi territory which I was not expecting considering the age of the boy involved. This just feels wrong... Season 2 coming this Winter.
This show postiviley surprised me with a lovely cast and for the lack of a better word "comfy" mood. The titular lazy main character really allows for a unique laid back comedy. Kudos to Silver LInk.
I meant to check out the manga a while ago but never got around to it. Despite the weird fact that this was initially just announced as 13 episode deal I still opted for the anime and if it wasn't for that limitation it would actually have been a solid "shounen" package.
The show is pretty standard WSJ fare with inspiration taken from US comics. This doesn't mean that it's bad but the pacing didn't feel great. The episodes are padded with flash backs and other means to pretty much end in a decent spot after those 13 episodes.
I'll probably continue my plan to just pick up the manga someday but I'm not in a hurry for that.
This show is a bit of a mixed bag for me. There were instances where to show was really fun and cute but also plenty of jokes that weren't home runs to say the least. I was hoping it would be more slice of life centered anyways but the "story" towards the end and the skits about idoldom didn't really fit along with a lot of advertisement for real world brands.
There has been a huge backlash for the anime as the mangaka himself posted that he was disappointed in it's ending with lots of people finding it to be abusive and meanspirited. I myself haven't really been bothered by this but there is certainly a truth there.
A perfectly fine slice of life anime but just like the source meterial I'm missing something to really get me invested. Also not a fan of Chinatsu's seiyuu.
Hibana is going to be the first "Netflix Original" (best-seller adaptation) produced in Japan and I'm curious to see how popular it's going to be. The first three episodes I've seen so far didn't really strike me as something that would appeal to the same market as the US productions though. They aren't bad by any means and have the same film-like approach like many modern shows but "foreign" movies aren't something people flock to in hordes. I'm looking forward to watch the rest anyways and that every director has two episodes spanning a time period of the main characters sounds cool too.
That twist is so cringey I just had to stop with this show.
