Only in the most vague way is this related to Train to Busan. This is a zombie movie based in South Korea set 4 years after the outbreak we saw in Train to Busan. I can admit that Seoul Station wasnt that good either, but at least they tried even with the choppy animation.
But here they go full ham on terrible, terrible CG and law-breaking physics. 4 years of disuse and the cars work, the roads are totally clear, there is electricity and functioning machinery. It just can't be.
This movie is clearly targeted towards fans of the original because there are some lines in English, awful awful cheesy dialogue that belittles the experience of living in a zombie infested wasteland and just contextually makes no sense at all.
And everyone in this movie is ugly and mentally insane. I liked Captain Seo, great character that makes sense, but Hwang is just bad to be bad. The military went full evil and now they're doing death matches. You also can't start a movie with heart wrenching scenes and expect us to care about the characters. Motivation for the main group also isn't really developed or explained and only really is justified by a flashback or singular line here and there.
All the English casting also makes no sense. I just can't understand why this film was made this way.
Large sections of the movies are completely in CG, they're actually awful and they look so bad. Skip this film, it just ain't worth it.
One of the worst movies I've had the displeasure of seeing
Acting was probably the only relatively decent thing about the movie. Most of the actors did a good enough job of it
The writing was laughably stupid. I could write a novel with a list of all the plot holes and unexplained events that happen here. The dialog is legitimately terrible at times. The characters behave wildly inconsistently making absolutely brain dead decisions at almost every single moment of the movie. You'd think a zombie movie would have interesting zombies but they're overwritten and somehow overacted. This is nowhere close to being a simple zombie heist movie as was advertised. There's too much going on with so many unnecessary subplots and forced emotional moments trying their hardest to make this a serious movie. The humor is just more crap to the pile that's done poorly
The movie looks awful too. At least with Snyder you sort of think that you'll get a visual spectacle. So many scenes look blurry and out of focus and some of the CGI is legitimately ugly. As is on-brand for Snyder, none of the music is in any way subtle
All in all, this is a Snyder show and it's evident that the guy is a hack who can't write or direct and has continually failed upwards consistently. It's overly long at 2.5 hours which could just as easily have been a more digestible 1.5 hours. And all of it wasted on some of most disgusting, unpalatable writing I've seen in a movie
I watched this movie and liked it. Not loved it. The explosions. The cheesy lines. The allure of having at least 6 people somewhere trying to make a difference in a world that is otherwise a total disaster in some parts while in the other parts it's just a rat race. So yes, I liked a movie, where people woke up one day and said, you know what? I'll do something about this. Reynolds actually alludes to this when he says something along the lines of; little actions can have a big impact.
Now after I watched this movie, I did what any other traditional person does. Hopped on the internet to see what the world thought of it and to check if a second installment was already on the way, because I want more. Imagine my surprise when I found a few articles from mainstream media, denouncing it for garbage. Even worse, I found a few comments here that describe the movie as garbage.
I won't disagree, but when did we start to expect EVERY movie to be a cultural masterpiece?? This movie isn't here to teach you about the world. It isn't here to inspire you. It's here for some fun. If you're looking for a movie to watch with your mates while your all just eating pizza and drinking beer, well this is it.
If you're looking for a movie to watch with the wife and kids, this probably isn't it. Depending on how comfortable you are with watching women in lingerie, while the scenes are depicting all the signs of people having fun, and sharing all of that with your kids. Oh did I mention that there is a lot of blood? no? my bad. So this definitely isn't one for the family to sit down and watch together.
But it is a fun movie if all that you need is, explosions, beautiful people half naked for a few scenes, parkour and tremendous car crashes. Have fun and for crying out loud, don't decide to skip the movie just because a few ... decided to wake up and call it a horrible movie. Make up your own mind and enjoy watching Reynolds drop a few deadpool-esque lines.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO AND AGAIN A BIG NOOO! Sure i wasn't expecting much but damn it they had a really good material in their hands to actually do something awesome. And what they did was absolute shit. No mate. If you want to use the name of Death Note, even if you dont do a direct adaptation there are still some key things that you had to keep. Light for example. My god wasn't he awful. Light was supposed to be a trully brilliant psychopath, cold with no empathy what so ever and really good tactician. But this dude. My god. A dumb, angry teenager with not a drop of brain in his head.Testosterone speake dto him , since he did all that to impress that freakin cheerleader. What men do to f@#k. And L. He was supposed to be as brilliant as Kira. They had something going on there. Here L found out who Kira was in one sec. No brilliance there. And towards the end he turned into a sentimental brat.
Ryuk was actually the only good thing in this whole movie and they only gave him like 10 lines.
I laughed hard at the scene on the ferris wheel and the song they used in this one. OMG it was hilarious. Just it didnt fit this scene. It was totally ridiculus.
No. I really warn you. I was going to watch this for the heck of it, but at least i expected they would try just a little. If you are an anime fan like i am do yourself a favour and don't watch this shit. Even if you completely try to forget the original this still is a shitty movie. Shame on you Netflix. I hope if you ever try to brutally murder a good anime in the future, you do a much better job.
Assassin's Creed has such a cool concept. Maybe the coolest I have seen in a while. I personally don't have a lot of experience with the games, but I found the movie to be pretty entertaining. Still, it was not the greatest movie ever. It has been a week since I've seen it and I'm still not sure why not, tough.
The actors were great. I really like Michael Fassbender, everything he does, he does so well. I had to get used to Marion Cotillard her character Sophie Rikkin but she did pretty great as well. I could name all the actors but there is no use because the acting was just really good in general. Not much else to say about it really. Something else in this movie I want to praise is the editing. Especially the shadow-movement-thingy that happened when Cal was in the machine. That was so cool.
I think I preferred the storyline in the 15th century over the present time. That might have had something to do with why I didn't fully love this movie. But still, not sure that that's it.
Great concept, great actors, great editing, there just was something missing and I'm not sure what. (it really frustrates me that's why I keep repeating it, ha)
