Another one of those shows that starts off pretty meh then finds it's footing and takes a significant turn for the better.
Gave up half way through season 1, gave it another chance, and now I can't wait for each new episode!
people are hating it cause it's TOO GAY... I guess I'll watch it twice.
The first two episodes were fantastic. It's silly to compare this to game of thrones or hotd considering how antithetical the source materials are to one another. The trailers and character posters looked like they had some spotty cgi and tacky costumes but it all looks stunning in this nearly billion dollar first season. It's already better than any of the hobbit movies and im wildly excited for whats to come after tempered expectations before watching.
this show is hilarious, silly and makes me laugh every episode
The trailer massively undersold this show. It's not a crappy rom com. It's a female led story with some great prospects. I'm excited for it to begin.
an amazing, very progressive show. a comedy that knows how to be funny without being rude. lots of puns. a strong and very well developed found family trope with a diverse cast. even after four season they are still going strong with the same brand of silly, funny humor.
This show is exactly what it promises - stupid jokes with lighthearted humor and a carefree time. I happen to enjoy all of those.
Good start ! Very faithful to the story and overall vibe of the Sandman comics, gotta love it
im SCREAMING i thought "wow such a low rating? is it that bad? damn" and then i check and it's just the racists throwing a fit lmfao
literally cannot wait for this. hope it lives up to everyones expectations !
Allf the complaints about diversity are so typical of today's hateful conservative rhetoric.
I found the first two episodes to be epic scenes, great special effects, and a compelling storyline. by the end of the second episode I was disappointed that I couldn't watch the next one. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. a great start to a beloved set of books from my youth.
It’s absurd how people frame themselves as Tolkien Fans because they watched LOTR and now they claim that everything that came afterwards is „so bad“.
The team behind this put a lot of effort and created something incredible with respect to the Tolkien-World. Hope it won’t be ruined by some of us.
Normally would give this an 8/10 but will give it a 10/10 just out of spite of some idiots.
Excellent manga
So far it's excellent. I was hoping I wouldn't be disappointed and I wasn't. The first two episodes did an excellent job introducing the main characters and the upcoming adventures. It was filled with action and excitement. I can't wait to watch the next episode.
Really enjoyed this more than I thought I would! Aidan Gallagher stole the show as Number Five- who returned thru time as the mature 5 but in his younger body. He really nailed the part until it was hard th believe he is actually just fifteen yrs old! Recommended viewing!
While the show is good, the fact that Pamela didn’t have a say and did not sign off on this series (which I only read about after already finishing the show) really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Especially since a big theme in this story is how she kept being exploited. Really just doesn’t sit right with me that this show would be made without her having a say.
(Just adding that I only found out about this AFTER I had already finished the show)
I was wrong. I hated the trailers and promo images, but loved the first 2 episodes. It's absolutely fantastic and they nailed the look of Middle-Earth. The show is true to the spirit of PJ's movies so far. The cast is amazing. I didn't like short haired elves initially, but you don't even notice it after a few minutes into the show. Definitely recommended!
Despite the negative reviews, this show is really good and has potential.
I don't get where all the hate is coming from. I'm a big Tolkien fan. First 2 episodes were a nice introduction. I wish the show every sucsess
LOTR shows it's still the titan of the fantasy genre. Another adaptation leads by example as to how to depict women & girls in high fantasy. I love Galadriel and the beauty of this series thus far (ep.1-2).
PSA: If everything looking stretched is bothering you you can fix it with the Firefox extension "Browser Video Tuner", click on it while the video is playing and press CTRL+2 twice and CTRL+0 each episode. Netflix and Neil Gaiman confirmed it is intentional unfortunately.
Opposite to what I've seen a lot of people say I found the first few episodes a little to slow and cheesy, but the premise kept me intrigued and I'm glad I stuck with it because it became much better, interesting and mind-bending. It's a shame a lot of the gothic aesthetics were tuned down but it's certainly the most goth thing I've seen on TV in the last few years.
It's insane to me how bothered people are about 5 characters happening to be gay. Sure, it's a little much but why care?
You can suspend your disbelief for a world where someone has teeth for eyes, but not that gay people are a little more common?
I’m not the biggest Lord of the Rings fan out there, but I like this show. History has shown that prequels are hard, but I really think that this is well done. I like everyone in it and the whole world is beautiful.
Some scenes are a bit too dark and the later episodes are too long in my opinion, but that didn’t stand in the way of me enjoying this.
Looking forward to season 2.
My rating after seeing the first 2 episodes. This falls somewhere between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings
This show is divisive. Nevertheless, "bad" isn't a word to be used here. The pilot is solid. Lots of feminist overtones, doesn't necessarily bother me, I just hope they do more do and less talk than they did in the first episode. I think they added this to get females watching the show, as the show goes a long I think a lot of those same people will stay for the good story and action. We had some great action scenes, the relationship between Kara and her sister is good, and they set up a lot of plot points to be expanded upon in later episodes. The effects were a little wonky but still leagues better (I said league... chuckle) than what CW is doing. I only expect this to get better. I could be giving this show too much credit but I am never against fresh new takes in characters as long as the end result is good. The pilot has a lot of good and bad but every pilot does. We will see, but until then I give this show so far a 2 thumbs up.
incredible addition to the franchise. beautiful sets and costuming, compelling storylines, and complex lively characters.
a fabulous achievement in the face of insurmountable pressure. thrilling and fantastic, it stands up to the original without question.
this sets the standard to which all new TV shows will be compared.
As a middle earth adaptation it's great, everyone should really chill and take this for what it is, someone's depiction of Tolkien's work. As a kid I would have died for more high fantasy of this quality, everyone seems eager to kill shows like this and go back to the dark ages.
