really good, but gave away too much at the end. we know he committed those crimes. we don't need to see the details. better to leave us 99% sure than 100%.
quite a movie on many levels... but the ages don't line up
Really strong overall. The acting and writing quality vary, and some technological leaps are hand-waved away, but the big ideas kept me coming back.
best to watch this like a mini-series over several days. it's a little slow, but very well made (of course) and super interesting.
a lot to say about modern American culture.
a fun, twisty, turny caper.
really well done... but am I the only one who thinks Hunter is in a worse situation overall?
what happens the next day? we need a sequel: Paris, Texas 2!
"we weren't the first to be persecuted... but we all kept quiet as long as it wasn't our turn."
really good show. great pacing. great finale.
this was surprisingly good until the last act when it took a nosedive. and holy crap, the very end... wtf? killing the love interest and the best friend can potentially work, but this execution was terrible.
Schlocky goodness.
I liked the historical twists it made, but it devolved into CGI madness by the end.
If you're a fan of Russell Crowe, as I am, you'll enjoy this.
The first half is tedious and unengaging, but the second half actually gets interesting. If they could cut the first half in half, Amsterdam would be much improved.
Great performance by Christian Bale.
Great premise, but the execution falls very short. In addition to the mediocre acting, a lot of the shots are just out of focus.
This is ripe for a remake.
I only watched this for the How Did This Get Made podcast. So incredibly stupid and headache-inducing.
the first 75% is really good.
Director Rebecca Hall has an amazing feel for composition, angles and lenses.
I'm looking forward to her next movie!
very enjoyable, and a great peak into mid depression America...
how could they not give Clark Gable a final scene?! He leaves, upset, 5 minutes from the end, and before the wedding, but we never see him and his new girlfriend reunite! wtf?
a lotta fun.
minor gripe: snakes are venomous (affecting the blood), not poisonous (digested).
watch... a woman do the dishes! watch... a woman make meatloaf! watch... a woman eat a whole bowl of soup! watch... a woman mail a letter! watch... a woman shine shoes! watch... a woman try to find a specific coat button!
in between all this she lets men pay to have sex with her. honestly, this was interesting because she finally snapped, but you should know what you're getting into.
This was a great one (despite having nothing to do with love or robots). Very Return of the Obra Dinn!
Good movie, but how could they never have Jeff Bridges tell Robin Williams that he feels guilty/responsible about his dead wife?!
Way better than the average low budget Netflix sci fi fare. Smart writing and directing, solid acting, and AMAZING(ly efficient) world building made for a fun, thoughtful and engaging 96 minutes.
Great documentary. Powerful and only 96 mins. I hope these filmmakers do more like this.
Mark Hamill in 5 lbs of makeup.
The Wookiee planet "Kazook."
Harvey Korman doing a cooking show in blackface and drag.
'70s VR porn.
A Bea Arthur musical number.
Han Solo making puberty jokes.
A Carrie Fisher musical number.
At least 20 minutes of Wookiee grunting.
A never-ending ending that gives Peter Jackson a run for his money.
She just needs to pick a man. Honestly, neither one is great, and she'd be better off with the priest. (Unfortunately, the earthquake (via the writer) takes the onus off her of having to choose.)
Fascinating, especially the second half.
Be careful of review bombs of this to discourage its watching.
It's too bad this was cancelled after 1 season. Really well done and would love to see where a second season goes.
Poor Bugsy. (But wish it had more scares.)
A combination of 2001, Apocalypse Now, Event Horizon, Interstellar & Gravity. But that doesn't necessarily make it great. It's a 7/10.
Disappointing. It feels like Tarantino had nothing to 'say' with this movie. I think he just liked the idea of filming a bunch of 60s-themed stuff... And while he's very good at that, it didn't need to be almost 3 hours long.
