I went for the laughs and left the movie theater with an existential crisis. I loved it <3
Margot Robbie is a gift to cinema. This movie is a gift to our society. It's enjoyable and fun but part way through it become a pretty good commentary on our society and how men and women treat each other. It talks about capitalism, consumerism, feminism, the patriarchy, men's mental health, and how wrong we get the simple act of living sometimes. I'm sure there's gonna be people who think this is ultra woke, but maybe (and ironically), that's some people need.
gonna watch this just to spite the angry white man in the comments who's upset about black people and gay shit being on tv
How they got away with that final line, I don't know.
[PS. If you think this preached 'matriarchy', then you clearly didn't understand it.]
Dev Patel really said I'm gonna outdo the bathroom fight scene (MI:6) and the kitchen fight scene (Tenet) and the elevator fight scene (Winter Soldier) while also addressing social and political themes and call it "Monkey Man"
I am begging Disney to renew this, that cliffhanger was great, and I freaking adore all the characters to such a point that I was crying/sad eyes whenever a character presumed dead or left the main cast behind. I freaking love the tone, it's less serious than most other shows out there, especially fantasy series. It has helped me get through the past weeks, I've laughed out loud, I've cried, I've felt all the emotions, but mostly I was excited for Wednesday! So thank you Willow, for making me excited about Wednesday!
Despite some flaws, I really enjoyed this series. It's fun, beautiful cinematography, great dynamics and has served as a wonderful escape. It's tone shifts really makes this the anti Game of Thrones/Lord of the Rings. Willow doesn't take itself to seriously while still giving you the lore, action, and beauty in the Fantasy Genre. I've noted the tone shifts in my past episode comments as something I disliked. I actually learn to not only expect them, but actually enjoy them.
I hope we get more. I feel the cliffhanger has an offered much to explore as we dive deeper into this universe. I want to now buy the Willow books that came out in the 90s (even though they're obviously not canon anymore). Disney/Lucasfilm can really benefit from expanding on their other properties. Star Wars will always be top dog, but Willow/Indiana Jones deserves the expansions they're getting this year.
The movie came out right before a significant election in a country known for its diverse culture and vibrant democracy. Dev Patel shows everything that's been happening in the country for over 30 years-religious terrorism, ethnic cleansing, mob culture, and hate politics are all shown without holding back.
Nowadays, due to Al, there are lots of song edits that make you feel sympathetic towards people you should be criticizing. This movie reminds us to be firm and stand up to technology that tries to control us instead of being fair.
Fun! Very short though, hoped it would be longer...
10 out of 10!
Chef's kiss!
Totally Ninja!!!
The best out GMMTV and the top of the BLs since my days as a BL watcher.
Applause!!!
There's not much I can say about this mini-series, so I'll keep it brief. I've been a fan of the Big Hero 6 franchise since the original 2014 movie, even going as far as watching Big Hero 6: The Series through its entire run and reading the accompanying comics/manga.
Baymax! is really just a set of fun shorts centered around the comedic healthcare robot, as he helps an assortment of characters through various issues. This isn't some action-packed sequel that people were anticipating (seriously, just go watch the Disney TVA series for that), but rather an entertaining set of slice-of-life episodes that have the comedic chops and heartwarming moments of the original movie, as well as some pretty nice touches of topic variety. I enjoyed my time with it, mainly because Baymax's character is just so witty and mechanical that it just works well with the scenarios at play here.
The 3D animation is nice and all, but don't go in expecting some new grand adventure. These would've fit better just as a series of Disney shorts for release online or something.
Blue Beetle was surprisingly decent.
Superhero movies nowadays have become formulaic and the story has a very linear progression. However, I finally know what it feels like to feel represented in superhero movies. Even though it's about a hispanic guy and I'm ethnically Pakistani, the culture was relatable: the migrant family background story, the whole family rooting for you as the one who will get an education and succeed. The scene where they dropped Jaime off at the office and whole family was there for him... Reminded me of my family dropping me off at the airport, or at uni for the first time.
I used to be neutral when it came to 'representation' on screen, but after this movie, I realised how good it can feel to see a bit of yourself reflected in a superhero movie.
Bad Buddy is what every BL should be. Narrative Ups and Downs and strong character development that DEFY traditional tropes. This was one fantastic production, from the directing, cinematography and the acting. Nanon and Ohm have not only significant chemistry on screen, but ultimately sheer talent and dedication. I loved everything about this show, and I hope other productions will take note; this is how to do it.
i think if you're sick of superhero movies you might like this all the more for it. it's cheesy and silly and takes itself seriously far less often than it pokes fun at itself. also khaji-da's character growth arc is big cute.
Why do people still support Disney+?
They have ruined another great one here...
i will not accept any criticism, this is amazing, rlly nice work james. so proud of u sweetheart.
Delightfully ridiculous. Love the colorful and crisp animation style.
