The Uninvited

mildly engaging but at a mediocre level. predictable plot twists, above all else, make the uninvited disappointing watch --- more so if you've seen a tale of two sisters, which this film is adapted from.

Cheer Up!: 1x03 Episode 3

another fun ep from a drama I expected to like, just not half as much as I've been enjoying it! it seems to have all the good bits of several fave school dramas, so to top it off w/ the fact that sassy is only 12 eps: keep it up, drama. I'm anticipating the continuation of smooth pacing w/ none of what bogs down our average 16 - 20 ep dramas---fingers crossed.

Noragami: 2x01 Bearing a Posthumous Name

yeah... it's not the most engaging episode to start a new season, but I'm happy to see yato & co. regardless. (I didn't expect noragami to come back for a second season at all, tbh!) seems we'll dig into bishamon's arc (from the manga) as the show progresses, which should mean more screen time for her & who wouldn't feel excited about that?

Tantei no Tantei: 1x10 Episode 10

"shinigami" FINALLY revealed! but for a show that's kept me hooked by thrill (& rena's bad-assery), shinigami's identity feels anti-climatic. it's made obvious by giving this supposed nobody a suspicious amount of screen time before this person's significance is introduced, but I guess it's a good thing tantei no tantei has more going for it than this one mystery. I'm going to miss watching rena & co. after the finale...

Heartless City

"what do you MEAN they don't live happily ever after?!" if I don't pretend the last five minutes didn't happen I'm going to live out the next week in a lot of pain, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯ all in all: outstanding & worth the watch (especially for a korean crime drama, imo). I appreciated the darker, grittier tone---it was the first thing I fell for, but the actors put on superb performances. (LOVED the friendship between kyung ho & hyun min here. it can't complete w/ their at-odds characters from falling for innocence.)

the romance, however, is too underdeveloped. I personally would have liked to have seen it written differently or excluded altogether, but the script remains fairly solid otherwise. ...uh, with the exception that---at a certain point---events turn predicable. in that sense, heartless city would've benefited had it been more character-driven, although a fair amount of this (&plot) pushes the show forward. so, really, I think there's more to praise than complain about...

...except the emotional turmoil episode 20 placed on my heart. that hurts. that hurts a lot.

The Machinist

watchable & perhaps likable but sadly overrated. if not for creative shortcomings, the machinist could be a lot more than what it is: disappointing & largely unimpressive, namely from a lack of suspense.

anime I recommend

Someone I know recently finished Cowboy Bebop and recommended it to me. It looks great from what I have seen, and it's right near the top on my to-watch list! I should watch it after I finish Brotherhood.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll look into them!
