While still funny and immensely entertaining, I confess I was a little disappointed with Deadpool. With this character, they had an opportunity to make a completely ridiculous and nonsensical superhero movie, and what we got as another generic plot following the tired origin story / damsel-in-distress formula, with a bit of crude humor and 4th-wall breaking mixed in. I almost wonder if that was the cost for finally getting this movie made.
You know how Kick Ass was such a great film and then the second one was a bomb because we'd seen it all before? Well, guess what -- you won't have that impression at all with Deadpool 2. The jokes are funnier and the action is action...ier. What's more, we don't have to Wade through all of the back origin story so this film cuts straight to the chase. I rated the first Deadpool 9/10, and this one 8/10 because it is slightly derivative and the final scene goes on a tad too long, but honestly, if I'd seen this one first I'd have given it a 9.
Like:
- Gorgeous Cinematography and transitional effects. One moment the movie goes into black and white and the next is silhouettes conducting sword combat.
- Spectacular set designs and visuals
- Unforgettable OST that will sit on my playlist for quite sometime
- Movie is divided into numerous Acts making it a treat to follow (Another QT signature)
- Unexpected comedy at certain places which is always a big welcome
- Sword fights and choreography at its finest
- Character development is handled perfectly
- Music, Art, and Film combined into a classic
- Now I need to watch Vol 2
Dislike:
- Might be too gory for some but this is QT’s trademark
Plot Complexity:
Easy
Flow:
Fast and there is never a dull moment
Movie Facts:
- Extremely gory and violent (QT Trademark)
- Listed in IMDB top 250
Awards/Oscars:
Nominated for 1 Golden Globe
Best Movie Quote:
Revenge is a dish best served cold
Rewatchable:
Yes it is just a masterpiece in action
One of the weirdest documentary series that can be found. The irony of John Wilson manifests itself in episodes with strange themes such as scaffolding or ways of covering furniture. The mastery of the project is in how it manages to make each episode drift towards unusual paths, which cast doubt on the lucidity of the human being. It is an unusual look at life, a discovery of the most remote places of our existence.
Holy shit. What an absolutely shitty thing to do to a person and his family. I feel sorry for Drake and his father. His father sounded like such a good person. Huge respect for drake coming forward and telling his story, I can only imagine how hard it was.
If you love Deadpool 1, you WILL be disappointed! But otherwise . Good movie on its own
Unless you are a fanboy(i mean this without being rude). its ok if you personally love it. But yes it is not as funny as Deadpool 1, full stop.
Deadpool 1 had a simple plot a simple storyline, simple budget. And so they killed it in writing, the jokes 4th wall breaks were off the chart. It was character driven story.
Deadpool 2 is a plot driven story. and the plot is just weak. The plot center is this kid Russell who is not well written and turns out to be annoying and not worth it honestly. But to each his own I guess.
Deadpool himself kills it and tries to carry it throughout. If you can love the movie solely on that. You will enjoy it.
Lot of jokes may not pander to international audience easily. I had hard time understanding few lines. But I can imagine they are funny. Will see it again with references
Cable was good, but underused in my opinion. I was expecting him to blow Deadpool's mind and imagining them to be each other's throat throughout the film.
That does not happen. The plot shifts. Cable joins deadpool. actually saves him in the end. while the villain is juggernaut. xmen 3 last stand memories anyone??
I saw DP1 again recently before seeing DP2 and I was laughing out loud at most stuff and the movie kept me hooked. DP2 does not do that. There are scenes in which I was waiting for things to move along.
It also suffers from the "trailer" effect. You know where you have seen most jokes and cool stuff in the trailer itself. And then in the movie you expect more but end up with nothing.
One awesome joke I found in trailer was Deadpool saying to Domino that YESS XFORCE IS DERIVATIVE!! . They cut it for some reason. He simply ignores her and says NO ONE ASKED FOR UR OPININON PETER. I mean why??
Some humor felt forced dare i say. I mean too much MCU and DC remarks.
but some humor really kicked ass.
In short I may not want to see it again on theaters. Deadpool 1 I could have seen it over and over agian.
Many people may disagree. I write this objectively.
Good Luck.
UPDATE:
went for it the second time. (because i had time to kill and i was nearby).
i do not want to redact anything. i stick by my comments and score. "you can enjoy this. but not as good as dp1"
there are lot of referential humour instead of contextual ones so some jokes will be hard to understand as i said before.
It's an amazing movie provided you know what you're going in for. There'll always be moody critics who will find faults.
This movie is exactly what it's trailer states. A light hearted murder mystery with comedy in between.
Jennifer Aniston was lovely as always.
I especially love the ending to it
Spoiler
They end up on the orient express.
Movie is a solid 10! The acting, score, everything about this movie was excellent. Only wish it was longer.
Just from early glance you can see how historical depth and accuracy has been work throughout this movie, even to the tiniest bit like accent and the character's grammatical structure. Supported by Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Dano's impressive acting, There Will Be Blood is a intriguing look on an oilman's life in 19th century. However I feel as a movie the director spent some scenes a bit too long and let the bridge from one scene to another unexplained (like Plainview's relationship with his son), especially with the 2,5 hours long duration. This is not to say the movie is boring--I keep being intrigued to see where it eventually ends--it's just it feels a bit disconnected sometimes.

This show absolutely set the fuckin’ tone
The young Jesse actor perfectly replicates Danny McBride's speech pattern and mannerisms, it's great
Such a classic. The cliffhangers at the end opens millions of perfect plots for the second movie.
For a Show that, to be fair, was mediocre at best (I think mainly because the supporting cast just wasn't as strong as Justified) that ending made me smile....Bravo :) - Bring on Justified: Down in Mexico :)
Absolutely top-rate acting from Daniel Day-Lewis in this brilliant drama about a conniving oil baron who is a really nasty piece of work. It's all about Daniel's performance with his highs and lows and his desire to have his cake and eat it. I guess some people are just never happy.
This show started out as a light comedy. Turned into trash. Taking it off my list.
WOW!! 20 TRAKT votes and the movie isn't even out yet!!!! These are true fans!!!! LOLOLOL
If you want to be clever, please actually be:
"Germany has been the anvil for too long" (rough translation) has been Said by Bernhard von Bülow, the German Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in 1899 (December 11th 1899 to be precise).
And he was probably refering to something by Goethe:
"You must either conquer and rule or serve and lose, suffer or triumph, be the anvil or the hammer."
I'm not saying that behaving like a hammer and forcing people to do what you want is right. But isn't that exactly where Americans WANT to see their country? Being free themselves while forcing everyone else to do things the way they want them to?
I guess my point is:
Just because Hitler said something, it wasn't necessarily coined by him. Usually he put it into the context and THAT makes it kind of weird to hear someone say it.
But especially this phrase had been used before with EXACTLY the same meaning.
Wouldn't be too bad if Wendy knew and associated it with Hitler, but Taylor is usually a knowitall and probably should know that the origins go back further.
P.S.: I had to research it myself - but I think that is something you can expect a writer to do if they want to use our dark history for dramaturgic effect.
What are we gonna do??...Well...We're gonna get a time machine, Billy...And I'm gonna go back in time to when my cousin was dating your mother. And then I'm gonna yank his pecker off, right before he has the chance to create an idiot.
After everything that happened with COVID, I really needed to watch something like this! Also thanks for explaining where the Omicron variant comes from :joy:
I am so going to miss this show after this season is over. What an absolutely insane man — I love him.
This definitely felt like a series finale with how it ended. If so, I'll miss Grandma the most; Lori Tan Shinn is such a delightful treasure.
f**k I love this show... episode after episode of pure comedy Gold such an informative episode about toilet paper and the parameters around it who knew from just your toilet a person could learn so much. but like big oil, the telecom companies and the tech industry people don't like it when you move in on their business That cuts into their overall profit and if you decide you're going to you need to watch your back speaking of backs I've come to the conclusion that I'm not in the upper echelon of Japanese toilets but I might be in the market for an Amazon or Walmart "ass washer" toilet lid. cuz by the sound of pure joy that was coming out of everyone's mouth when they had first experienced the water on their butts holes and especially when it washes your balls and/or vagina everyone should experience that so keep up the good work and pumping out the awesome episodes I'm on my way to drown myself in my phone looking at toilet lids to pressure wash my ass with thanks South park. :star::sunglasses::thumbsup:
A very good episode, and a necessary one for some of the characters. It's so clear that this show is written by people who are chronically online, every reference is impeccable.
The scene between Curtis and Cary has been building all season and the pay off was fantastic. Cary deserved to hear this and I am glad Curtis got that off his chest.
The Bieberification of Chase was funny.
Lucas walking behind Cary and Brooke in full gay serial killer mode is really sending me.
What strikes the most is the kindness with which the farmers treat the cows that they lock up, burn, inseminate, and separate from their offsprings. In the countryside, the calves run as they yearn for freedom. Something similar is the treatment that the director gives her film, close to the eyes, attentive to the mooing, but in the end manipulative in the use of sound, like a "kind" vision into a concentration camp .
Again best part of the episode was Tommy. Granted that ending was drama inducing.
Using crass language & stereotypes isn't necessarily hateful or promoting violence. Laughing at our differences and accepting absurd social phenomenon and vernacular can disempower negativity and bring us together for deeper things we all share. Shane is very funny and I have seen no indication that he has ill-will towards anyone.
After this movie, Radcliffe is a bit more than HP. Totally recommended. I was engaged for the whole movie. Storytelling is very good
So happy that a series that I grew up watching got revived. I love adult cartoons that are self deprecating and poke fun at society as a whole. This show is A+. Can't wait to see how the most recent season plays out and hopefully more seasons are released through Hulu.
