Even great acting couldn’t save this.
It was in a word - pointless.
Go watch Taxi Driver and see what this could have been.
Joker’s past is supposed to be an enigma. But this was just a sad pass at something that could have been good.
If Batman was a hot bikini girl who’s also a Mexican masked wrestler.
Love the camp in this show.
The guest star is a spy named Emma Steed. Too funny, Emma Peel and John Steed must have saluted with their black umbrellas.
Funny send off of black exploitation and cheesy monster films.
Watch the neon signs for shoutouts.
The first Alone in the Dark was a fun scary movie to watch.
This is just proof that great actors can’t save a tired story line.
It’s been on my to view list a long time. Showed up on TCM tonight. Definitely a laugh fest.
If you haven’t seen it, go find it.
I’m gonna watch the remake, but not sure if it can keep up with
Cute and fun as expected.
For a film based on an action video game , I got more than I expected.
Actual character growth. Wow.
Fun movie and what I expected.
This could have been so very good. Great cast, interesting story potential.
Failed execution across the board.
Gore and bad words can’t replace plot and dialogue.
So sad
I put off watching this because of warning from friends who love the book as much as I do.
To start, the orthnihoptners are awesome. The sand worms not so much. 3 appearances of the sand worms, 2 reminded me of return of the Jedi “where you will be digested for a 1000 years”.
Costuming must of had a low budget, or the designer didn’t bother reading the book. Lady Jessica is dressed like an extra from little house on the prairie. The 3 armies seen (Atraides, Harkonnen, and imperial) all seem to shop at the same store. Same armor, with different colors and helmets.
They went for a moody , brooding feeling to the movie. We are half way through the movie (so they say) but only about 20% of the way through the book. Gonna race to the end? They leave out what is causing Paul’s dreams which is significant and lady Jessica and her former teacher discuss this.
So many important facets of the book are left out - zensunni religion spread as part of the breading program - the feud between house atreides and harkonnen. Zero introduction and explanation of the mentats or the navigators or where all the tech is. Might of helped if the screenwriter had read the book instead of watching the 1985 version.
Acting is all trying to be brooding (Dark knight styling). Jessica always seems scared. The only saving grace so far has been Zendaya who can actually produce the correct facial expression for the scene.
Not as horrible as the 1985 version (I’m still trying to forget that one).
While the SyFy channel version had flaws, so far it’s still light years ahead of this one.
Of course I will watch part 2 with low expectations, hoping to be surprised. Maybe they will decide to stretch it to 3 movies. Please don’t
This was so bad, it’s ends up being good.
Long list of what’s wrong with it, and no list of good.
But all put together it was fun trash.
I liked it. It kept my interest all the way through. More than endgame and infinity war did.
Good dialogue and interesting characters. Something new for Disney’s marvel.
Actually better script and story than the big budget ones.
Quite enjoyable.
This is one of those old but great films. The acting is wonderful and fits the setting and plot so well .
I remember it from years ago and just rewatched it.
Still awesome.
Sadly the best scene is the add on at the end that takes place 6 months later.
Interesting ideas, but suffers badly from the execution. CGI and buckets of fake blood can’t replace good acting.
Ron Pearlman movies are much better.
Fun film. Seeing Devito and Glover was fun. The impressions of them were nice.
Way too funny but a lot of heart.
It was in a word “horrible”
Acting and dialogue were very much sub-par.
Middle school drama classes do a better job than this.
