Times are wrong in Trakt. It says 5am on HBO that’s 5am this morning U.K. time 18thApril. That would mean it actually aired Saturday night US.
It airs 9pm tonight in the US, which means 2am here Monday morning, NOT 5am Sunday morning. Spent ages wondering why Syncler wouldn’t play episode 2 - not been aired yet! Thanks Trakt!
I know this movie will probably not please die hard Manga and Anime fans, as with Ghost In The Shell, which realised their anger, but to put it bluntly- I really don’t give a toss for their opinions! I am not a fan of either genre, I like the storylines, but the animation style is an acquired taste, and not one I personally like, so the movie adaptations are just the thing for me! As for the cries of ‘Whitewashing, with SJ in GITS and no doubt Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz etc in Alita- Get real! The characters they are playing are Animations and comic book characters for heavens sake! Ink on paper and graphics on film, no more Japanese than I am! (And given that a lot of them are drawn or animated with Alita’s huge eyes, they are not particularly Japanese in appearance anyway!) I suppose Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, et al, were whitewashing when they made “The Magnificent Seven” ( If you know your movie history) One of the best Westerns ever.
Furthermore, I heard no cries of “yellow-washing” when the Japanese remake of Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven was made (Yurusarezaru Mono) ior “Throne of Blood” a Japanese adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, to name but two. (There have been numerous Japanese adaptations/re-makes of western film and literature) I know people can get very protective about things they hold dear, but really- some people are just not happy unless they have something to be offended by, annoyed at, or pissed off at in general these days, it seems....
Entertainment is created to entertain, and if it does that, it’s served its purpose, be it Manga, Anime, Live action film, Ballet, Opera, Poetry, a Novel or a Stage Play. They have been adapted, re-made, re-imagined and re-booted countless times for centuries, should you bother to look into the subject. So... Alita entertained me immensely, and for that I am profoundly grateful, whatever it’s origins and source material. I look forward to the sequel- I couldn’t believe it ended when it did! 9/10 ( it would have been 10/10 if it had lasted another hour, and concluded the story!)
Absolutely nothing to do with Two-Tone whatsoever, apart from a couple of soundtrack plays, no mention of Two Tone, Specials, or Ska! The soldier brother is the best character, and the IRA connection is the main interest, while the main character is unrealistic, uninteresting and doesn't grab your attention. The music is bad, the band is frankly ridiculous. The cartoon character of the dodgy club owner is unbelievably bad. Like the equally terrible "This is England", another show written by someone who has no idea of the youth movements and music of the time, but somehow think they do. Probably because they were a wannabe on the periphery and wished they could be one of the "In Crowd" but were rejected... If you were a Mod or Skin, and think it might be worth a watch, forget it!
What an epic, exciting, harrowing episode! So many losses, not least the poor guy who bailed out of another fort and comes tumbling through the air, only to strike the wing of Cleven's plane! Best episode yet, of what is a superb series.
After several absolute turkeys Neeson actualy makes a good film!

How did this crap even get made? Elaborate trippy visuals dont make up for a story so awful and ridiculous it defies belief. Ant Man-no ants, nothing. Utter rubbish. After the abysmal Thor-Love and Thunder I thought Marvel could'nt get any worse.....They just did!

What is it with this torrent of crap movies about being trapped? Trapped in a room, house, cave, cabin, forest, tunnel, mountain and now up a pole! Is it a leftover from lockdown? Whatever the reason-stop! now! Predictable, boring and totally shit! I thought the seemingly endless run of movies about surviving against intruders, rednecks, drug gangs, etc,etc was as low as it could get, but these trapped rubbish are even worse! Especially as the characters are always so annoying you root for them to die, rather than escape! When the ladder gave way, at the start, the girl that fell should have pulled the other one off and saved an hour of viewers lives!
So there are four agents with guns trained on the bomber when he hijacks the car with the kid, when he raised his arm and fired into the air, any one of them could have killed him instantly. Stupid extending of what was a reasonably good episode until then.
First season great, second, OK, now, time to cut your losses because this one stinks!

Marvel dragging the bottom of the barrel. The reason why the eternals are relatively low in the Marvel comics universe, is because nobody was interested in them, then or now. Boring characters that have nothing to like or root for. Marvel, you just wasted a ton of money on an utter crock of crap!
I was dubious about this, but curiosity got the better of me, unfortunately. A somewhat messy and overly conveluted plot. Relying on basically rehashing elements of the trilogy and dressing them in the emperor's new clothes, hoping no-one would notice it was bare! Plenty of action, but the visuals lacked the impact of the original and seemed limp in comparison. A case of what should have been left alone, once again being 'resurrected' for the dollar. Disappointing.

Good to see a season 2 of Punisher. Best thing Marvel has done, series wise. Would rather see this than another Iron Fist, Marvels weakest offering....

Season 1-excellent, Season 2- so-so, Season 3- gave up after ep.3, its become mundane, slow and boring with nothing to hold ones interest, or excite. Started out with great promise that slowly fizzled out from midway thru season 2......Pity.
