The 'fines' they pay are no more than a slap on the wrist and a pass to continue doing it over and over again (just like the banks BTW).
In America, Canada and the UK it's called "lobbying" - the rest of the world calls it "bribery and corruption."
Take the time to watch it... 9/10
An interesting and timely premise that offers suspense paired with national security gamesmanship. Excellent cast, great performance, perfect balance between personal and global storylines. It will take awhile for this BBC series to get to our side of the pond but I encourage folks to watch for it. I give this series an 8 (great) out of 10. [Crime, Espionage, Drama]

Got to the end and still loved it... however...
WHY do writers/producers/directors insist that straight people automatically become gay, 30-seconds after meeting a gay person? What kind of gay porn fantasy is this that they insist on perpetrating to everyone?

An interesting docu-drama that covers the rise and fall of the Pirate Republic in Nassau. This is pretty well done and the talking heads aren't too annoying. The acting in the drama sections is fair but not outstanding. To be honest though, the main interest is the actual historical story it tells.
If you have an interest in pirates then you probably already know a lot (if not all) of what is told here but it's put together well. Some of the musical cues seem to be inspired by Black Sails (which isn't a bad thing). There's also a fair amount of nudity and swearing but, in the main, it is in context and only a few times is the nudity gratuitous.
Overall, a good series and worth a watch if you like pirates and the truth of their history as opposed to the romantic Hollywood version.
Currently watched two episodes totally entertaining very much in the likes of Sicario.
Looking forward to watching the remaining episodes would definitely recommend.
