Nowadays, in Vienna, a French couple in their 40s seems to live a peaceful and happy life. Unfortunately, appearances are sometimes misleading: a schoolteacher and a mysterious young man complicate this outwardly perfect osmosis... I liked this sentimental drama with the thriller sauce, each character advances his pawns in a game of dupes to who loses wins. The two main roles (Karin Viard/ Benjamin Biolay) excellent in this kind of poker liar in love, I finally remained on my hunger with this outcome a little too smooth and frustrating in a film that holds overall well the road. Not bad, but really lacking in bite.
The prison film had good days in Hollywood, and it proves it again here with this prison drama that criticizes the military power embodied by the sadistic colonel played by James Gandolfini. I admit I was bored during the screening. The dog is in fact only a pretext to dissect 25 years of common life of a couple with children and all the problems that can raise. It’s not a comedy like the trailer or the poster suggests. It’s a return on oneself. Many will recognize each other but is it funny ?
