Critique put me off watching this for a while, dumbest decision I've ever made.
This film was great, plain and simple. It's dark and full of action. The flashbacks are a nice change for introducing the origin story. And I thought they cast Superman perfectly, great actor and is practically the spitting image of Christopher Reeve.
Best adaptation of the Superman story since the originals, loved it.
I usually like films that everyone seems to dislike, but no. Really annoying to watch. Great idea, awful execution.
One of my favourite films in general. Too many people think a horror/thriller can only be scary, which is dumb. It's allowed to have a story too. In this case the story is so good that the creators were confident enough to add some comic relief, and it worked.. really well.
After seeing the second chapter of Insidious, I can honestly say this franchise is only 1 film away from being the perfect trilogy. James Wan and Leigh Whannell are just too talented for their own good. Brilliant movie.
Arnold, Stallone, Sam Neill and Jim Caviezel? Man this film was a tonne of fun. Really enjoyed it.
This film is more than just a horror, if it doesn't scare you that doesn't make it a bad film. Insidious is just as much about the story as it is the scares. It does a fantastic job of setting up a solid atmosphere, trying out new scare techniques while still dabbling in the tried-and-true methods of your typical jump scare.
This "sequel" is more of a natural continuation of the story. It picks up right where the first film left off and does the story real justice. It expands the mythology behind "The Further" while dealing with Josh's new-found possession. If you don't feel you can watch it for the scares then watch it for the story because it's a bloody good one.
One of my favourite things about this film is it's not only a sequel but also works it's way as a prequel too. It takes us right back to when Josh was a kid and how he first came into contact with the woman in black. Not only that but this film does a beautiful job of linking back to the unexplained scenes in the first film which, when experiencing that for the first time, is an absolute treat.
Don't listen to reviews saying it wasn't scary enough or it was worse than the first film. This is just the second chapter of the same story. It doesn't care for rehashing the first film but instead does something different. You don't discriminate between chapters of a book complaining one wasn't as scary as the other, one wasn't as good as the other. They're all chapters of the same story and work together to create this fantastic, whole story.
Insidious is just that. With the 3rd film confirmed it's clear that Insidious is one big story not just about the scares, not just about the Lambert family but instead the bigger picture is about "The Further" and the story behind it. The entities involved, whether they're parasites or demons.
If you liked the first film you'll love the second. It's still got the familiar atmosphere, the comic relief from Specs and Tucker, and even features a music score that takes inspiration from the first film's soundtrack while offering something to keep things feeling fresh.
I'm a sucker for a well-written story and the Insidious franchise is no exception. Leigh Whannell (who funnily enough, also plays the character Specs) does a great job in penning the screenplays. The story is fresh, exciting an after Insidious: Chapter 2 I feel fully confident in the Insidious series/franchise and am very much looking forward to full trilogy.
Whether this film scares you, makes you laugh or doesn't let you sleep.. you can't deny it's a solid, original story. Forget the labels and just enjoy the film for what it is. Really. Fucking. Good.
This is how a sequel is done, by turning everything up to 11. My god that was glorious
One of the few cases where the sequel is as good, if not better than the original. Now I patiently wait to complete the trilogy with 28 Months Later (come on Danny, hurry up).
One of only two films that tugs right on the heart strings. Brilliant movie.
One of my all-time favourite films. Great cast, great story and the method of storytelling is refreshing. Highly recommended.
Adverts made me doubt the film, didn't like the look of the Mandarin etc. But now that I've seen it..
Wow. Like seriously, wow. This was miles better than number 2, exceeded expectations by a shit tonne and even though there's only 3 I am totally content with saying this is one of the best Iron Man films I've ever seen.
Really well done, everything you expect to happen they turn it upside down and surprise you with raw Iron Man at its best. Loved this film, just really fucking well done.
One of Cage's best, great film.
Reviews made me pass on this film, finally watched it and it was decent. Great end to this weird ass trilogy. Loved the post-credits scene too, hilarious and a nice nod to previous films.
Like seriously, this film is much better than everyone else is making it out to be.
James Wan can do no wrong. Great film.
Weird ending but incredible movie.
Never seen an ending like that before, that was great!
Great film, fun, unexpected moments, action.. Liam Neeson. All there. 8/10.
This was a great film, surprised I've never heard of it before. Solid prison film, great story, great characters. Very much worth the watch.
Only saw this because it was randomly on TV, turned out to be pretty good. I enjoyed it, don't get why it's rated so low
Watched it randomly when it came on the TV, I actually enjoyed it
Better than expected, was actually really good
Love these films, can't wait for the supposed third.
Such a frustrating film. Stupid fucking decisions through and through.
So much better than I thought it was going to be. I have to agree with @PopcornBucket, incredibly underrated.
Project X meets Groundhog Day? I thought it was pretty good. Special effects for this was incredible. I guess I wish the ending was a little better but still a pretty good film.
All these low ratings scared me, although now after watching it, the journey through the film itself was amazing. Super fun, eery etc. I'm guessing it's just the ending people didn't like.
If you don't like films with open endings to be interpreted by each person individually, then don't watch this. Otherwise, check it out. I actually enjoyed this.
My favourite explanation is that this entire film is about the rapture. Open-ended is important because no one really knows what happens, although there's evidence that some souls are left on Earth. Also the reason animals are still alive is due to the belief that animals don't have souls, hence why you see horses, poodles etc in the film.
Easily a 7/10 for me. Would be an 8 if they at least explained why this day was chosen and not any other. Definitely worth a watch though!
The high quality of Skyfall is what finally got me to check out Casino Royale, I regret not watching it sooner this was great
That was hilarious, biggest laugh I've had in ages
Watched this for the first time recently, only because I've heard so many people go on about it. Surprised me a lot, turned out to be nothing like I expected the film to be and I am so grateful for that.
Amazing story, strong acting and the twist at the end was just brilliant.
Well worth the watch
