Watching this in a totally white audience was an experience. The little titters and nudges when 'make america great again' was mentioned, or about police officers shooting unarmed black people, or even one becoming president; to the we won mentality at the final phone call.
Then the deathly silence with the current footage being shown. I think quite a few people realised it's not just references.
These people still exist today.
They still have their rallies.
They still have their marches.
They still murder in uniform.
And they still hold these abhorrent views.
I think I even heard some people sniff away some tears right at the end once they saw the footage and heard the words of people who were there.
Enjoy the film; enjoy the jokes (it is a funny film) but make no doubt the characters shown still exist.
Vera is such an underrated character. The rawness of his hate, anger, and depravity is boundless. The acting was brilliant. Honestly, deserves more screentime of not for the fact we all hate him which is a testament to how good he is in this role.
The monster battles are awesome. There are a ton more than the last one and I loved every second. It makes up for all the family drama they make us watch to get to those fights. Hopefully the next one will be Godzilla and Kong fighting for 90 minutes with little to no humans.
I typically don't watch movies that about racism because it gets me triggered to see and hear the horrible things my people had to go through. If you go to the deep south (Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama) these days, it looks like slavery left yesterday.
Anyway, the acting was phenomenal. I don't think the studio could have found two better actor than Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali.
Overall, the film was very human, very charming, but also funny. It had little bit of everything. 7/10
HOLY F*#$!!! Now THIS is a season opener! And not just ANY season opener, this is a REAL "Suits" season opener!! This isn't anything like the crap of last season, noooooo. This was about the team coming together to fight something seemingly insurmountable for one of their own; and with outcomes similar to what made this show so great in the first place. It takes off in the very first scene that all of the original cast members (who are left) come together. The writing in that scene alone shows that we're back from the abyss of the last season. They didn't even need to rely on gratuitously using the effingheimer and other blue terms like they did last season, they actually beeped out the three times it was used but the excellent writing easily carried it without a problem. The show is back to its true form and I like it!!!
We all know that a lot of Marvel movies are usually too soft because of rating for kids and that means more visitors in cinema and more money! But why they have to put here also feminism and woman emancipation? Oh yes, because director is a woman. When I said that Venom is for kids I am taking my words back! This movie is for kids and stupid girls that think they will change world with equality but they will never do manual work like a lot of men workers. At least that cat was a really good actor!
A young German Johannes (Roman Griffin Davis) loves Hitler. So much that he imagines him as his imaginary friend (Taika Waititi). He’s naive to what being a Nazi really means and the lives it ruins.
Until he meets a Jewish girl and must decide if he wants to turn her in. Which is a dilemma because his mom (Scarlett Johansson) is the one hiding her in the attic.
Instantly the best movie I saw from 2019. It’s touching, funny, charming and well acted. Also occasionally takes darker turns than you don’t expect. Which does make sense after all. Jojo Rabbit is a film about Nazis.
Interesting and very bloody plot with some very disturbing scenes played by Lecter and Dolarhyde / The Toot Fairy. It doesn't get under your skin as much as "Silence of the Lambs" but I think it is a worthy prequel anyway!
Nice plot twist at the end when Dolarhyde isn't dead and goes after Graham for the 2nd time.
The acting isn't always very good, and the scenario is pretty predictable at times, but I like the idea that the directors were able to make a comedy out of Nazi movement, that you can actually enjoy.
