The typical functional trio, an alien past with gentle but good world building, mechas and action scenes and the teen factor.
It was difficult to keep up with the film due to the speed of the dialogue and the compactness of the information it was trying to convey. It's as if Anderson wanted to present you with a two-hour-plus film in a short film of just forty minutes.
Still, the story and the character move. In essence it is a simple, textbook story, an Aesop fable, but it undeniably works.
The style that works is, as expected, very Wes Anderson, and that is appreciated. To this day, this man's style is one of the most interesting I have ever seen, perhaps the most impressive of all. The colors, the shots, the staging and the mimicry of the theatrical works, all of this leaves a great impression on the viewer.
I couldn't get a reading of the tape and, to be honest, I don't know if I'll ever do it, I don't even think I have anything to say beyond the obvious, but what is obvious is the great impression it has left on me.
Build up and character presentation for future episodes. Not much happened.
The first two thirds of the episode were boring comedic filler. The last third was a basic presentation of new characters from another country, giving an introduction to the chūnin exams.
I just cared about Ragnar cause he is very intelligent compared to everybody else. The first antagonist was waaay better than the others. After that the show couldnt hold my interest, nothing of sustance was happening, i was bored to death.
The end of the season felt super slow and just a build up for the second season. I hate when they do that.
The earl was a better antagonist by far.
Crazy animation, geez. I've never seen a camara work like this. The plot twist was pretty cool, at first i was like "Alright, it is a loop", but then I saw the woman kill the man and then I was amazed.
I. Love. The jokes. OMG. And the characters, all of them display a different type of personality and different roles in the way they interact with each other, the dialogs are so good. Also, as the last ep, the plot twist was pretty interesting and unexpected. Im loving the show so far.
Too many subplots happening at the same time, too many characters trying to be develop at the same time, and I dont care about anyone except from the spanish guy. The way all the situation with the woman wraped up was hilarious and totally unexpected. Plus there's no cool cinematography to guide u through the story, it is suuuper bland on that side.
