Yeah... the plotholes were a bit much on this one.
While entertaining on a basic level, it's really sad that this is what Netflix does with our money.
Would be better as a series exploring tropes a bit more in depth. This was decent, but a bit too superficial.
They clearly had the ending/boat scene planned out from the beginning and everything else was an afterthought at best. I won’t even go into the gaping plot holes, since nobody writing this script cared about those parts of the story anyway. Could have been a great 10 min short story instead of a terrible feature length slog.
More dad noises than dialog. Got grating fast
Sadly very mediocre. Needs a 50min cut.
Hot garbage. Nonsensical, slow and leads nowhere.
Even if you go meta, the narrative still needs to make sense. Also no onion browser buffers HD that fast.
Carries itself along nicely and the soundtrack alone makes it worth a watch. I found the plot holes easy to overlook. Would recommend.
“I love her.”
Well I loved it. Best line delivery of the year.
Loved it. Basically more Axe Cop.
Before: Oh my god yes, Bo's back baby. This must mean he's a lot better!
After: Oh no.
10/10, which is impressive for a "comedy" special that mostly just made me sad.
The movie basically stops, when the much more interesting drama would begin. Bad ending.
Well that sure was grim.
It's okay. A good "okay". The biggest problem with this movie is, that the writers could only come up with the metaphors, but not how they fit in a story. I firmly believe a movie has to still work on a literal, on-the-nose level as well as metaphorical. That's just not the case here.
Other than that it's good tho'...
The atmosphere is.... strong. The film is shot gorgeously. Had to get that out of the way.
I like slow movies usually, but this movie was an utterly unrewarding experience. The obvious themes of motherhood and superstition are barely explored and everything feels like just a string of random events.
I didn't have this problem with The VVitch or anything by Nicolas Winding Refn.
