There was some controversy around the picture regarding allegation of abuse of the animals. But the subsequent investigation absolved them, saying the leaked on-set footage had been manipulated to mislead, and the integrity of the on-set animal supervision was defended by the American Humane Association (http://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.3967494). I give the film a 6.5 (touching family fare) out of 10.
