@dewdropvelvet I believe the "lesbian romance" is very important to the character development of Mildred. It shows the vulnerability that such a strong character needs to be deep and realistic. Also, the exploration of her homossexuality and relationship with Edmund endorse the discussion about how repressed sexuality, added to a history of rejection and abuse, can be motivations to her manipulating, cold and sick behavior.

While I think the critics were too harsh, I must admit it's grown maudlin. Practically feels like a Marc Cherry show at this point.
I want more hospital stuff, less lesbian romance and Edmund stuff.
