Take away the "future technology" plot point, and it's starting to feel like a regular ol' boring "Husband won't let wife leave him" kind of show.
Very bland so far.
4/23 Edit: Took a bit of break, and have just now binged the rest of the show. It didn't turn out too bad. The characters got fleshed out a bit more, and the story took a bit more of a family-centered drama, but all in all it wasn't as bad as I thought it was headed, so if you've made it this far and are curious, I'd say push to the end, its decent enough.
