Despite the fascinating Asgardian setting and cool visuals, the first "Thor" movie felt rather bland and slow-paced. This is mostly due to the dated approach in the writing. Despite being a relatively recent movie, it's crammed with all those sappy and naive stereotypes of much older superhero movies. Thor's relationship with Jane and the other human characters is so forced and simplistic, all characters are one-dimensional and add no value to the plot. It does not look like their affection grew through the experiences they shared together; they just spend a night under the stars to realize they are soulmates. I guess the whole thing is supposed to be about Thor's growth as a character, but again, there is no development whatsoever: the arrogant and reckless kid suddenly changes into a big-hearted superhero, just because the story requires him to. Wait, maybe finding true love is what changed him all of a sudden? Please. Him trying to adapt to the human world was kind of fun to watch though.
