Just because Ron Perlman played a good Hellboy doesn't mean David Harbour was challenged filling his shoes. I actually liked David's Hellboy prosthetics and body sculpture better. It's more natural and hellish rather than the plasticky version of the original Hellboy.
Milla Jovovich played a very bad Nimue. She wasn't for for this role which imo actually contributed to lower ratings. A powerful witch requires a skillful and talented acting to be believable and Milla just doesn't fit the description.
The rest of the casting is just weak, but the movie is overall good. Set design and action scenes didn't lack in talent, and the camera works helped make those fight scenes enjoyable.
You can't say it's a bad movie imo, and you also can't say it's great. it's a good Hellboy reboot if you don't compare it to the original ones story line which was very rich.
