Give him a real story and even Neelix can be a decent character. A shattered belief about what's afterlife gonna look like, is hardly an innovative topic. It's still a good topic and classic Star Trek but isn't this basically a variation of the "spider web graveyard comet people" episode from one of the first seasons? Whatever, it makes a decent episode.
Naomi is cute, though. No wonder they'll use her more often in future episodes.
