Popstar Jack whose career is past its peak, who faces health issues and is an alcoholic, meets young singer Ally in a bar. He's enthralled by her voice and invites her to his next concert. They fall in love, Ally's career starts off, while Jack's life goes downhill.
Honestly, this felt more like a Lady Gaga 2 hour music video than a movie. There were way too many songs in full length... and in between those songs there was way too much of disappointed, driven Ally confronting a drunk Jack. The time used on the music could have been better used to actually develop some kind of plot, aside from brothers, greedy managers who're jumping the ship... and alcohol. The ending just... sort of happened, but again, would have been much stronger if I actually had cared about any of those characters.
So, overall: works as a music video... but makes for a rather average movie. Not sure where all the hype this gets comes from.
