this movie made no sence

i really like jeff but i feel like nothing really actually happen on the plot, and the ending was meh
jeff would be a great friend, i wonder if i could make one for my self

Nice movie, even though it is fear porn for the apocalypse they are trying to sell us. It looks to me like they used CGI for Hanks or a mask wearing double. So easy to do with only 1 actor in the whole thing. But Holly-weird owns his brand so can use it how they wish.

loading replies

I liked it better when he was on the island with the volleyball

One man show. Hanks is doing great but the movie is not so powerful at all. It is another ordinary post-apocalyptic movie with acceptable CGI, less action but a humanistic story. I must say the story is below my expectation. Only friendship of a robot and a dog can not save a whole movie. I would give 5/10 or 6/10 if Hanks was not at the headline but it's now 7 of 10.

The movie feels absolutely soulless to me. I was not able to find compassion to any characters. And I didn't like how original scores were mixed with some random music tracks. I can't describe it, but I feel there are plot holes the size of a giant Swiss cheese.
It also painfully reminded me The Midnight Sky, I actually thought Hanks was there too.

I enjoy Tom Hanks movies as well as fun robot movies like Short Circuit. This one nails quite a few things and does so w emotion w a good heaping of levity when needed.
Very enjoyable. 8.4

A beautiful and touching film!

The script, actors and direction manage to keep the viewer glued to the screen without anything really exciting happening at any point. That's what I call real skill!

The film doesn't need collapsing houses or powerful explosions and still touches on every conceivable level. And it stays in the memory - for a long time.

An absolute highlight that you have to see!

loading replies

Just a mediocre post-apoclyptic movie. Tom Hanks play makes the movie special, but everything else including the story is not strong.

loading replies

I liked it a lot! Nothing really happens, but it's so emotional and the characters are all so nice. The doggy is so cute. I cried a lot in the end. Lovely movie. This is me in the apocalypse - a dog and 2 robots. Away from the people.

Poor writing gives you the kind of movie that looks like a Swiss cheese; the cast was small, the story had potential, but writing and directing was terrible. Just give me Wilson anytime over Jeff - not that Jeff was bad mind you, but badly implemented in the story.

loading replies

The movie lost me for awhile, but as the movie progressed it became cute. Hey it is Tom Hanks, what do you expect. It is a must watch.

loading replies

Really liked this movie. I was immediately emotionally invested in it and wanting things to turn out well for the characters.

loading replies

Wouldn’t recommend - terrible end to no point movie :movie_camera:

loading replies

'Things will happen to you. Things that you cannot control. Raw emotion will find you. When it does, how you deal with it, what you do will define who you are. It happens to all of us. Whether we want it to or not.' - Finch

loading replies

It had me going at first but then it just petered out.

loading replies

Making sure the dog survives the apocalypse? What would be more interesting than having Hanks character build a dog saving robot. Have him build a dog saving robot that could have also cured him and the rest of the world. The robot was entertaining and funny at least and the dog was cute but the story is just too boring.

loading replies

Jeff is basically Borat reincarnated lol, and I loved the rain man reference

loading replies

Proof that Tom Hanks' charisma can convince you to watch 2 hours of crap. Without him, I would have turned this thing off.

loading replies

Yes, I rated it t7 of 10 but you must see this movie. The feels!

loading replies

The voice of the Droid sounds just like Borat!

loading replies

Cried like a baby until well after the movie was over. Very touching!!!!

loading replies

The movie was ok but just like all movies now days, they have to push a narrative. This one is climate change made the earth inhabitable except to one man, a dog, and a robot. 5.5/10

A surprisingly solid piece of post-apocalyptic sci-fi, admirably anchored by the always reliable Hanks, offering gentle commentary on both the human condition and what it means to be American if there’s no America. It breaks little new ground but doesn’t need to, the emotions are surprising and land well, and Finch, Jeff and Goodyear’s predicament is genuinely interesting. Hanks has to beat the clock of his early death to make his AI progeny a good human for his dog, and the ride is both heartwarming and just unsettling enough to really work. It’s fun, awkward and occasionally really smart - Finch admittedly treads some well worn ground but it does so with integrity and heart.

Jeff should have chosen the name Wilson

This is a really good and kinda fun and sad movie. It's pretty much an apocalyptic version of Castaway with a little Short Circuit thrown in the mix. Hanks turns in another really good performance. And I find it interesting how easily Finch created an actual high-functioning AI.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

loading replies

This movie should be titled Jeff :robot:. That’s it. That’s my review.

loading replies

Tom Hanks is an awesome actor! I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Even though he found friendships with a robot :robot: and dog :dog: it’s important that we value our friends. 9.0

loading replies

A pretty decent movie. I do feel this feels like Jeff would get more ratings if the story was done as a mini series or 12 episode show...even if it had the exact same ending.

There's simply not enough time to bond with the characters on screen.

Finsh gets a 5, Goodyear a 7 (cause I'm a dog lover] and Jeff a 10. The Finch being a dick scenes really brought nothing to the story or character, other than you seeing he was basically a dick. Why? His death would have been much more impactful if they let you like him more. Just sayin '...

For a post-apocalyptic survival journey, there was relatively little tension, and in its place was a man grappling with not having really lived the life he may have wanted. Finch knows the end is near and does what he can to infuse what time is left with purpose. It's ultimately a tragic story that uses a robot and a dog as stand ins for people, pets, and tasks that we all use to derive meaning in our life. And in the end, did we do enough and did we pass on what we hoped we would? The more time has passed since I watched this, the more I've appreciated it.

It felt like a cheap remake of I am legend!

What a nice, simple movie this was. It was nothing elaborate, but it had a lot of charm to it. Tom Hanks carries the whole movie brilliantly, I thought he was really good in this one.

The plot is linear, but entertaining. After an apocalypse, Finch is a lonely survivor. His only companion is Goodyear, his beloved dog. Feeling his time draw near, Finch builds a robot to protect it after his demise. The movie follows the growth of said robot, as he learns skills and emotions.

Overall, it’s not special, but it is a nice way to spend an evening. You won’t regret watching it, but you probably won’t want to watch it again.

6/10

Add a bit more to the plot and whittle it down to 90 minutes and this would've been so much better. Not that it's bad at all. It's got quite a few good moments. Just a bit long.

loading replies

I can't find any empathy for the characters. I thought the movie was pretty boring. The soundtrack is questionable, the plot is shallow. The character development is really slow given that it's about the robot. I can't tell who the target audience is because there's a lot of long dialogue that I didn't care about but then scenes with the robot were at times slightly amusing, but at the same time rather childish. I'm guessing they tried to satisfied everyone and ended up appealing to no one. I did like the visuals.

It's a solo adventure with Tom Hanks. So much like his other movie cast away. btw, the robot apparently has an unlimited power-supply

loading replies

I really enjoyed this. Just a heartfelt movie about survival, loss, and responsibility. Didn't go too deep into the survivalist aspect, more character driven, and I think it worked well for it.

Hoped for a better movie than it was, reminded me of castaway for some reason which was done much better. However the movie was still fair to watch

A solo Hanks performance but, with a robot that talks like Borat. Not sure if its trying to be a heart-touching movie or just a full on lame-comedy.

Funny, angry, and sad can be.

From start to finish really enjoyed.
Love the soundtrack.

These post-apocalyptic movies are honestly starting to get on my nerves. Always the same story: A few people still live on earth, the government in all countries is completely turned upside down and total anarchy reigns.
But "Finch" takes a different approach. Anarchy reigns here, too, but you don't see much of it except for one small scene. It's more about the main protagonist's love for his dog and the worry about what would happen to the dog after Finch's death.
Of course, it fits perfectly that one of the last humans on earth is an engineer and passionately builds robots and programs AIs. The robot he builds is supposed to become a kind of second ruler for the dog, and it works out pretty well, as we as viewers learn.
Overall, the film drags a bit, but I never felt bored at any point. The film offers a lot of emotion, drama but also some action. Overall, a very watchable film.

loading replies

Tom Hanks play drama but the robot play burlesque and it's disturbing. That movie has a slim main scenario. Some secondary events don't really makes sense and bring nothing to the movie. At the end of the movie, you still not understand what they run away of and what happened before.

I don't know why Tom Hanks accepted to play in that movie, the scenario is not good enough.

loading replies

Episode 10x10
A post apocalyptic world where only Tom Hanks, a dog and two robots remain.
I found it very pretty and human, although a little slow, but of course it had to be, since I had to explain what happened and how.
I liked it but it is very sad, sensitive people will cry.

loading replies

This isn't science fiction. It's a quintessential boomer story of a narcissist trying to be a parent to a robot.

loading replies

I for one quite enjoyed this film. I wish that I could give it a 7.5 because it is better than just, "good", I'd say "quite good". It's an endearing film, with a little bit of humor. We tend to overlook and take things in life for granted often. As people have stated, not everyone can pull off a whole movie alone, and Tom Hanks does one hell of a performance but he is not exactly "alone", he has his companions to interact with. It's what makes this movie as endearing as it is. I would recommend this movie.

loading replies

Worth a watch especially if you like Hanks. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a humble story about a man and his dog, with a couple robots.

loading replies

This was a really good movie focusing on taking care of what you love under the most extreme circumstances. Tom Hanks plays a survivor of an apocalypse with the goal of taking care of his friend, his dog. This movie is very touching and humanistic which is nice for a change. The movie gave me anxiety as I related to this movie and was routing for the dog and Tom. A great watch.

Good for one-time watching. The movie is slow moving an nothing really special happens. The end although was quite good and I could even imagine a continuation with Jeff and Goodyear.

loading replies

Good post-apocalyptic flick with more heart than most. Tom obviously carries a lot of the resonance and humanity here, but Caleb and the characterisation of Jeff through CG and animatronics really brings some great levity to the plot to balance everything out. Good stuff, worthy of a viewing. Initiative!

A movie featuring only one character is always a risk as you need a strong actor to pull it of and a story that keeps you interested.

Tom Hanks surely checks the first box and his performance is, once again, flawless. The story though was a little bit too much up and down for my liking. It started good with a bleak and depressive look into the future. It looked believable and I thought this good be a serious story about a man struggling to survive. But from the moment he created the robot (which had an odd kinda russian accent) more and more comedic elements crept in which, for me, where contradicting the seriousness. I wasn't sure anymore what this movie wants to be and started to drift out of it. The last 10-15 minutes then where really good again and got me emotinally.

That, and Hanks performance, warrants it a "7" in my book but for now I wouldn't go higher. Why "for now" ? Because I think this movie could actually work better if watched again

Not one of the greats but still better than most those days. I felt he was too hard on his creation but perhaps for its own good. Show was stolen by Goodyear lol, his howl made me cry.

Superb!!!
It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a movie this much!!

Tom Hanks trades in a volleyball called Wilson for a robot and a dog.
I won't ruin it and tell you what the robots name is cause that's part of the story....

Solid 10/10

Finch is an affecting tale of being human and finding companionship in tough times. Tom Hanks delivers yet another understated performance along with a charming Jeff, the robot. Some beautiful shots and authentic connection.

loading replies

Another great movie with limited cast. Only he can pull these off. Recommend highly.

loading replies

I liked Jeff the robot, he made the movie. Everything else was boring

loading replies

i would easily watch a show with 5 seasons starting right in the end of this movie

loading replies

Cute but dull

Sweet relationship story, but ultimately tediously drawn out with a turgid plot. Hanks played his character well, the dog and robot are cute plus we got the obligatory post-apocalypse movie shot of the golden gate bridge at the end.
