Finding Nemo has been my favorite movie since I was a kid. I have seen it several times throughout my life and I am still enjoying it like first time watching.
Finding Nemo is an animation film from the Pixar animation studios from the year 2003. Pixar catched me with this film because of the brilliant characters, the messages, humor and the excellent storyline. I can't think of a better animated movie than this one and the storyline with those funny characters just catched me .
The storyline is about a clownfish named Marlin, who lost his wife and about 400 eggs with his baby's because of a barracuda attack in the Great Barrier Reef. Just one egg was left after the attack. Marlin named his only left son Nemo. Nemo came to life with one injured fin and now his life begins with an overprotective father. Marlin always takes good care of his son, but Nemo is young and curious and one day while school he was swimming further out than he is supposed to. He gets captured by sea divers and transported to a fish tank in a dentist office in Sydney. Consequently Marlin tried to rescue him, but the boat was faster then him. That's where the story begins. Now Marlin is on a mission to find his son. On his away trough the big ocean he meets Dory, who accompanies him on his journey. Dory suffers from short-term memory loss, which makes her forget things in five seconds. But before coming near finding Nemo they have to survive a lot of adventures with sharks, toxic jellyfishes and a relaxed turtle.
My favorite scene in this film is when Marlin wants to give up and he thinks he will never find his son, but Dory motivates him by singing "just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming swimming swimming". That's such a beautiful scene with nice music that shows how important friends are and that there's always a way to your destination.
Moreover there many other brilliant characters like Bruce the shark, Crush the turtle, Nigel the pelican and they are all so entertaining and funny.
Finding Nemo's animation is perfect throughout the entire film. Beautiful seascapes, so colorful and the characters are looking fantastic.
I would recommend this film for kids at the age of 6+ because there are some scenes that could be frightening for younger kids. For example the opening scene where a shark attacks Marlins family or a scene with a big anglerfish that chased Marlin and Dory.
In summary this film is a beautiful film for kids, teenagers and parents. Especially the friendship between Marlin and Dory is so sweet and moving and the many funny characters are just making this film perfect for me. The story of finding Nemo has some really strong meanings, like the way Nemo's disability is handled but also a beautiful parent-child relationship. In my opinion it's a 10 out of 10 stars movie and it will be my all time favorite !
THE WACPINE OF 'FINDING NEMO'
WRITING: 9
ATMOSPHERE: 9

INTRIGUE: 10
NOVELTY: 8
ENJOYMENT: 10
Finding Nemo remains one of Pixar's most original, exciting and heart-warming stories. The script is a series of misadventures for Marlin and Dory and an elaborate operation to escape the confines of the aquarium for Nemo and the gang. Despite the humour and adventure, the dialogue also allows the characters to explore what it means to be a father, a son and a friend. It’s a basic Disney/Pixar story packaged in a new exciting way, suitable for children and adults alike.
This film ingeniously mixes human concepts with aquatic life, making Nemo's world seem like the most natural thing ever. Fish schools; hilarious, AA meetings with sharks; outrageous! Dory is hopelessly funny, Marlin is the best father ever and Nemo is brave, despite his physical shortcomings. The film is filled with excitement and dangers, it is swiftly paced and there are plenty of funny and touching bits as well. It’s a classic, yet powerful mix of emotions.
I love the characters of Finding Nemo and the actors behind their voices. Dory is a legendary female lead, of course, as a forgetful sidekick amazingly performed by Ellen De Genres. She feels like a natural next to Albert Brooks' fish daddy Marlin. The sharks and the sea turtles are the most memorable supporting characters and the actors behind the voices of the fish inside the aquarium are all amazing.
Seagulls are just as annoying in the eyes of fish and birds as they are for humans, and they are a fun little addition to the story.
Finding Nemo was a breath-taking and groundbreaking mix of colours and light back in 2003, making it a worthy Oscar winner. It is just as beautiful and livid almost 20 years later. The immense creativity behind the creation of the underwater world feels amazing. The level of details is high and despite the visible ageing of the animation style, the film still looks great. The music shifts from beautiful, to dark and quirky, making it one of the finest soundtracks of a Pixar film.
Marlin and Dory form one of the most successful dynamic duos of any Pixar film and a wide range of interesting supporting character ensure that the film feels both fresh and intriguing all the time. Our heroes go from one memorable danger to another, and they all help to keep the pace and tension high.
Aquatic adventures aren't a new thing in the world of animation, but unlike The Little Mermaid and the rest of the lot, Finding Nemo feels like a film from a different plane. Its way of combining familiar concepts with new and unexpected elements make for a fascinating film that makes it fresh for viewers of all ages.
Finding Nemo is one of Pixar's best films. It was incredible back when it was first released and it is incredible 20 years later. It has withstood the test of time admirably and remains exhilarating, touching and inventive. This is a childhood favourite I can still say that I love.
WACPINE RATING: 9.43 / 10 = 4,5 stars
After losing his wife and most of their unborn offspring to a predator's tooth, an overprotective father fish goes out to sea in search of his only child, stolen away on his first day of school.
Tons of heart and emotion in this, Pixar's first underwater fetch mission. Unfathomable sights, too, as the screen explodes with hypnotizing colors, impressive environs and staggering changes in scale. The ocean is a marvelous setting for such versatility, not to mention an unusually fresh one, and this team knows when/where to shine the spotlight. It's bright and vibrant like a kids' movie; lush and expansive as an unexplored frontier; sufficiently dangerous to transform any down beat into an opportunity for suspense. There's more than just superficial drama, too, with a deep human experience at its heart: the inner struggle between protecting one's children and allowing them to learn for themselves.
Great voice acting all around, from Albert Brooks (the scarred, neurotic dad) to Ellen DeGeneres (comic relief with a side of simple compassion). Fantastic, playful screenwriting that's capable of exploring timeless, meaningful themes without losing the youngsters along the way. Gorgeous visual effects and cinematography, still (somehow) impressive after almost two decades. Finding Nemo does it all, standing tall as a cornerstone of the now-legendary early Pixar filmography. These guys are masters of the craft.
Finding Nemo is a film that appeals to both children and adults. The writing is clever, allowing for both age groups to understand and enjoy the story. The voice acting is excellent, with the actors fully committing to their roles and making the audience care about the fish characters. The animation is top-notch and the underwater setting is beautifully detailed and believable. The film has its predictable moments, but overall it is a great family film that delivers on all fronts. It's a great choice for a family movie night, and the message of listening to your parents is an important one for children to learn.

Well fish really do have personalities...and some are quite funny.
If you want a movie with comedy, action, thrills, love, morals and most importantly, a fantastic, well-thought out story line, then "Finding Nemo" is the movie for you.
It centres around a nervous, rather over-protective clown fish named Marlin ("Hmmm...he's not very funny for a clown fish!"), who's afraid of the ocean. But forced to search for his stolen son Nemo ("we're looking for his son, Fabio"), he ventures out into the big blue (the ocean). Almost immediately, he meets a very forgetful fish named Dory ("Can I help You?"). This encounter leads to a series of intense and sometimes extremely funny adventures from taking on 3 sharks (Bruce, Anchor and Chum), to Marlin's thrill issues taking on "the jellies" (jelly fish farm), and meeting the 150 and still young turtle named Crush who takes them on a ride through the E.A.C. - sweeet!...totally!!!
Throughout the movie, we follow Nemo's capture and subsequent imprisonment in a Dentist's fishtank overlooking Sydney Harbour, where he meets a bunch of madcap fellow tank dwellers, who hatch a plan to escape from the tank using Nemo as the key ingredient. His initiation into tankhoodum is extremely funny ("Sharkbait...ooh ahh haa!"), and the personalities of each of his tankmates will have you in stitches.
Well to sum it all up, Marlin kills the bad guy, rescues the girl and saves the day....oops that's another movie, but if you really want to find out what happens, I recommend you see this fantastic movie.
I believe this is one of the best ever movies and most definately the best animated movie you will ever see.
