Just 3 letters : W O W !!!!
THE LONG CON. So good, I loved this movie. I really did not expect the ending. Reallly exciting throughout, definitely recommend.
Wasn't exactly what I was expecting, a typical hustle movie, but still turned out to be pretty good. The final twists that some people found confusing were actually pretty good in my opinion and it had the right amount of humor all along to leave a smile on your face without being too sarcastic.
While it had its smart moments (the betting scene for example), the movies lacks depth and the whole 3 years later part was boring.
So the first half of the movie: 9 The second: 7
It was a fun film, not to be taken too seriously!
Amazing movie. I wasn’t excepting it to be so good. It caught my attention from start to finish.
This really disappointed me :( Might have a lot to do with my high expectations, I was looking forward to this the most out of any upcoming movie this year.
It wasn't bad or anything but it certainly didn't reach the highs that I was expecting so in the end it was just ok. It started off really great but then it shifted gears & threw it all away, which is a big shame coz they were on the right track. Still worth a look if you want something on Sunday afternoon or whatever.
Pretty good, not extremly original, but fun. Nice images of Buenos Aires.
At 39 minutes I said please oh God no this is turning into a fucking love story and there was still more than an hour left. It turned out to be better than that. There's a lazy Sunday softness to your generation. Makes me uncomfortable.
Fun to watch. And I love Margot Robbie.
7/10

i actually enjoyed it wasn't cliché and FYI i enjoy all Will Smith movies :p
Focus was an interesting crime thriller. The plot overall was very uneven. The setup was solid and grabbed my attention from the beginning. I've always been interested in sleight of hand especially as it relates to petty theft and con artists. The cinematography is beautiful, every shot is exquisite. As the movie progressed is where I began to lose focus (get it). It feels like they were more worried on the con part of the movie and forgot about the rest of the story. I never felt the build in the romantic relationship between the two leads. The movie also is listed as a comedy. While the jokes are good, they are few and far between. Will Smith actually does a great job portraying the con man Nick "Mellow" Spurgeon. Margot Robbie was good as upcoming con woman Jess Barrett, and can hold her own opposite Will Smith. It's worth renting and watching once.
This movie couldn’t decide what it was - Crime Thriller? Drama? Comedy? It ended up failing on all fronts for me. The ending was a big fail. Love Margot Robbie, was cautious about it being a Will Smith movie, and now I wish I had my 105 minutes back. I give this film a 6 (disappointing) out of 10. [?]
i like con movies but this was not good. The betting part was the more interesting one. That Margot Robbie is gorgeous.
Much better than I expected. There's something to be said for how attractive having such an astute view and understanding for one's surroundings is. Odd, I know but it is what it is.
Rent it: worth only watching once. It has a nice little plot twist towards the end and it a nice love story with a suspense component. But it lacked depth.
I got bored ALOT. The only reason I kept watching is for Margot Robbie's sake.
I like movies about con artists but this was a really bad one... The only good thing was the bets in the football game, and Margot Robbie.
So basically, this film glamorizes the fuck out of deception and stealing. There are certainly movies where one ends up rooting for the main characters who are thieves but this isn't one of them. I admit it was kind of amusing that they were mucking up things for cheaters, but past that it just made me uncomfortable to even consider wanting these people to succeed. I mean, I wanted them to fail and I wanted them to be miserable. They deserved it. What's that say about them being likeable characters? They had no heart; they were selfish pricks. It doesn't matter how smooth they were with their humor; they sucked ass.
Speaking of heart, oh god, the "love" crap peddled in this. Who in their right mind wants to be with someone they can't even trust? The Jess chick was all "I trust you!" when she thought Nicky was dying from the gunshot. No, bitch, you don't! There's no reason for her to either. Nicky made it clear, more than once, that he wasn't to be trusted. And she wasn't so trustworthy herself. What was she even in love with anyway? All his brooding? Seriously, there was an insane amount of that considering he never suddenly opened up and shared anything deeply personal or profound about himself; like it seemed to be indicating he would at any given moment. They also did the whole "I wanna be with you but let's make it super complicated and pretend that it's much too difficult to be based on our lame ass circumstances" thing. I fucking hate that shit. Be grown ass adults and be together if you want and not if you don't. Don't fuck around; in any sense! It's not right.
Honestly, if you're so smart and so capable, and obviously aren't opposed to working hard, why would you choose to expend all that energy on being a terrible person with terrible values making other people's lives terrible? It was a terrible movie. It wouldn't have even taken that much effort to make it a little bit better.
The tv show Community episode 'Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design' is a better version of this movie. What that instead. It's a lot more fun and only 20 minutes.
I expected so much more from Will Smith, the idea of the movie seemed so good and i just love movies about con artists and just mail movies that make you think.
But this didn't live up to my expectations, it got boring in parts and i expected most of the things unfortunately. I hate when i know whats going to happen next, it just kills me.
Overall it wasn't a bad movie, its just they could've done so much more with the idea. 6.7/10
I agree to some of the comments, only good thing of the movie is Margot Robbie and the first part of the movie. Would have been much better ending if she would have tricked him.
