Olivia Newton-John was such a hottie
The youthful-tacky musical of a generation.
Rest in Peace Olivia Newton-John :hearts::hearts:
The tacky youth musical of a generation.
Grease, or how olivia Newton John went from being plain jane to a prostitute in nearly 2 hours
i joke still a good movie
Grease is a timeless classic that will have you singing and dancing by the end of the movie.
make me smiling to the end.
The ABC of Grease
The Awesome
John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John steal the show as the lovebirds of this West Side Story of the 1970s.
The timeless musical score makes you dance and sing along with the cast and almost every song is instantly memorable.
The two leads are supported by an equally great cast of young actors and seasoned performers.
Director Randar Kleiser makes thi movie feel like more than just a musical, with the dramatic parts actually making an impact.
A great period piece, detailing teenage life in 1950’s USA.
Some of the dialogue is witty and hilarious.
The Betwixt
Some of the dialogue and comedy is dated; it might have worked in the young audience of 1977 but doesn't work as well today.
A couple of songs are forgettable and there are a few scenes that drag out a bit too much.
The Crappy
Despite its runtime, very little of note actually happens throughout the story, and there’s no real story progression until the end.
The film feels more like a musical clumsily adapted for the big screen than a standalone film, with the song and dance sequences taking the highlight at the cost of a layered love story.
the story isn't that much, but I wasn't expecting a lot of it. the songs are great though! it deserves the recognition.
There is a reason this movie is a classic. It has great music and is a fun time even if you don't like musicals. The music still bops 45 years later and I KNOW this is a favorite to many people out there. I don't like it at that level, but it is an easy one to recommend!
Rating: 3.5/5 - 8/10 - Would Recommend
"It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's what you do with your dancin' shoes."
Knew most of the songs already but never saw the film. Never could've imagined it being this over the top. But it works. The songs are still fun with the scenes that go with it. Loved the outfits and hair, laughed loads, song along with the big songs and a loved all the characters.
It feels really as something from its time with most of it not being able to fly today, but I don't care. Grease is a fun film and I'm glad I've finally watched it. Greased Lightnin' is still the best! John Travolta was the stand out for me. That man could move his hips back in the day! Best part? the Greased Lightnin' can fly!
Watching Grease was a fun way to spend 110 minutes!
Boogedy boogedy boogedy boogedy shooby doowop shebop!
Definitely a must see classic.
It's not for everyone, but if you can get behind musicals, it's a good time. It's got its classic status for a reason. The songs are catchy, the leads are likeable and the kitsch is strong with this one.
This movie had such a big impact on pop-culture. It's a tribute to the 60's that became an iconic 70's product. The songs, the romance; Grease is the word! And it's almost impossible to have missed it. But for some reason I had never seen it.
Good things first: the songs are great. The happy songs make you feel happy, the dancing songs make you want to dance and the romance songs make you want to hold your partner. Choreography is also great and really adds to the songs. A real musical!
But.. the actors are supposed to look like teenagers, but look like 30 year old actors. The storyline can probably be written on a napkin. The acting (outside the songs) is just plain bad. And the morality is: boys be as macho as you can, girls be as slutty as you can, bully as many as you can, then all your dreams will come true! wtf..
Perhaps I'm just not a musical person, but I'd recommend watching the songs (they're great!) and skip the rest of the movie. You'll have a great time!
A true period-piece and all-time classic for a reason. Memorable, catchy music and decent enough humor make for a good time. Not sure how well this movie would go over with new generations of viewers though, as many of the themes and jokes depend on being attuned to the era.
Except for a couple of songs, it was boring, quite similar in its conception to the subsequent Dirty Dancing.
Best enjoyed as an elaborate hipster prank where everyone involved simply refuses to break character.
1/10
