Overall, this is a mess, but it's a lovable mess. The practical effects are endearing and not the best, but they are fun. There are two reasons most people watch this, though, and they aren't Patrick Stewart or Steve Railsback.
Part of my 2022 Sci-Fi Tuesdays
Just another rewatch of the BEST Naked Space Vampire gone Zombie Invasion flick ever made. It's always fun to see Peter Firth run around London to save it from the very naked, very hot, space vampire of Mathilda May. Lifeforce is still totally bonkers, and still a very entertaining two hours.
Starts off with good music. Familiar looking 80s space scene minus a decent looking ship. Nice cheesy effects. Are those the freezing pod things from Superman? Then the plot is set up. Space vampires who become seductive life force draining beings? Sure I'll go with. It's about time someone did this actually.....
They're talking about the same things for ages. Effects last longer than they should just to show off. Boobies! No plot development but plenty of dead end dialogue and non suspenseful mystery. The story is going in circles until the next effect or pair of breasts..... CHRIST. I admit I zoned out. Pretty effects again.... boobies! Patrick Stewart is being injected and is going crazy. Did he just read the script? This is just a mix of different styles that were popular at the time to try and make a blockbuster hit...... At the end it's a zombie disaster movie with a vampire bat bad guy? Just needed a Jim Henson puppet....
I can never get that time back now. It actually sucked the Lifeforce out of me. Is this performance art? It didn't even have any humour about being awful. I blame myself. I should have predicted this after the ship was named HMS Churchill and the breast count was suspiciously high from the start.
It is quite the sight to behold. A wild and gonzo ride, with some really great ideas at play. How it failed soo hard back in the day is beyond me, but I guess I can understand how the nudity can make some people uncomfortable. It's an unconventional sci-fi/horror flick, and for that alone it deserves to be seen.
This movie is like 50/50. 50% great, 50% complete trash.
Based on The Space Vampires but executed better in PFH's Night's Dawn The Reality Dysfunction

It was an interesting take on the vampire genre.
This is very ambitious, did not expect that.
Not the best movie ever made, but it is a wild, entertaining ride, especially the last 30 minutes. Also it's funny to see the sophisticated Patrick Stewart in a movie like this.
Not a very memorable movie. Or a very intelligent one.
Then again a lot of todays movies can be described like that but now we have CGI and I bet I remake of this would make millions now.

It's not a good movie. In fact it's a bad movie, but it's also great in its badness.
