Amazing attempt at super hero.. coming from South...
Minnal Murali is a testimony that India can produce a true-to-life superhero origin story without unnecessarily saving the world complex. It takes particular gall to attempt a superhero movie within the budgetary confines of Malayalam cinema, especially with the advent of the New Wave of Mollywood, rooted in realistic, down-to-earth storylines. Basil Joseph truly dictates a fine origin story with an accurate balance of humor, drama, emotions, and depth in the story. The screenplay is engaging and fun and keeps you interested to see more of this new superhero. Tovino has killed it as Jaison, probably the film which makes him a national star. The film has a high amount of relatability, where you connect with both the leads the bad and the good. The film is easily the best superhero story from India. This one is already on the top 10 films on Netflix in many countries and it's not a fluke. This one genuinely deserves applause.

The Creators did a pretty good job with developing the Main Character & the Villain and making us feel for both of them. Also, pretty good stuff with balancing the drama & the comedy. There are enough action sequences to get you excited & cheer and it's quite strong. With the budget that they had, they did brilliant with being creative with what they can do in terms of showing you the powers & strength of the Hero & the Villain in this story and the development of those strengths.
The Story was quite strong too. No pretentious alien invasions or biggest explosions or anything. The story felt more real. Like how would a commoner from a small town/village would behave when they get superpowers.
Actors did fantastic job. Be it the lead or the supporting characters.
The whole movie is just beautiful to watch.
Hats of the whole team behind this Movie.
Of the 2 superhero movies I watched this weekend, the Marvel one, in an established universe, isn't my favorite. That's how good Minnal Murali is. Kudos to Basil Joseph for making a fantastic superhero origin story. I'm just happy that we finally have a proper superhero movie of our own (though, to be fair, 'Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota' was a decent attempt). Sushin Shyam's background score complements the movie perfectly, so do his and Shaan Rahman's songs. Tovino Thomas as Jaison/Minnal Murali is charming, funny, and 'superheroic', yet grounded. He captures the cockiness and vulnerability of Jaison in equal measure. The rest of the supporting cast is great as well.
As with most great superhero movies, it's the villain who steals the show. Guru Somasundaram as Shibu is innocent and menacing in equal parts. The writers, Arun Arindhan and Justin Mathew, play a tug of war with us getting us to sympathize and despise him when least expected.
The VFX is a bit below par, but that is to be expected given the budget. The story does lag at times, but the good parts more than make up it.
The small homages to Superman and Batman are nice touches.
I sincerely hope that #MinnalMurali teaches Indian creators that superhero movies are more than just heavy VFX and awesome fights and encourages them to wade into the genre.
it's typical superhero movie the powers and everything is we seen it before,
I am raised by watching superhero movies. So I feel like it's a parade of cliche. But it can be good start for Malayalam film industry. Overall It's one time watchable. Happy X Mas
