the actor was ok. the script was ok, just feel like everything was produced in a rush, this could of being really good, and potential was wasted.
Dark knight is still the Goat but this rendition has some decent moments in a slower take on the franchise.
I'm not the biggest fan of DC movies, but The Batman was a pleasant surprise. The dark, dreary atmosphere that tends to weigh down other DC movies is used effectively here. I loved the complex, layered story and the acting was solid. A little longer than it needed to be but I can overlook that given how enjoyable the movie is overall.
Did we need another batman movie? No
Was it good? Yes, so go watch it!

The Batman resembles a classic film noir. The soundtrack is great and Gotham City provides a fantastic backdrop. Matt Reeves hit it out of the park.

Batman is finally doing detective work! I loved the way he worked with the police.
I liked how he didn't force his voice to be overly deep. He just sounded very calm and serious.
Robert Pattinson acted well in this.
I liked Batman's character development in this, with him realizing it's not all about vengeance.
This movie felt like a side-quest on a Arkham video-game.
Not even a memorable moment that makes you want to rewatch again on Youtube.

BUT it's a great neo-noir and an enjoyable 3 hours. the soundtrack is at times kind of repetitive but in a well-timed way, honestly. i will gladly listen to ave maria in all its forms until i die.
pattinson is such a good actor, it's kind of offensive. but jeffrey wright was my favorite in the film, with zoe as a close second. also: the red theme makes me long for a live action batman beyond—can it come in a decade or so with ben affleck as cranky old man bruce? because he hit that particular character trait perfectly in his movies.
anyway. very typical batman content which is to say the general batman character is a family-friendly sad orphan with a standard hero's journey arc in which he tries to find his purpose. because of that, i think pg-13 works for gotham, personally. give me an r rated film that adapts the joker who cuts his own face off and wears it as a mask, though, i'm here for it.

Far too long. Got bored after 30 minutes. Only the last 30 minutes saved this movie.
A bad scene is when Cat women shooting her father, it’s only 2-3 meters, but she missed, usually when you missed your target at first time, you’ll keep shooting, but she stopped.
The rest are awesome, the whole story is about lie and finding truth, lost and trust yourself again. Personally I don’t like the new Bat at first time, because Christian Bale version is so great. But when the movie ends, I was shocked, Robert Pattinson version is a younger Bat, that’s why he feel lost sometime, it’s perfectly fit in the story.
Just finished. I enjoyed it. Dark and moody. Far too much intense flashing/strobing lights took me out of it in parts. This affects me specifically though, many won't be bothered by this...artistic choice. Colin Farrell's makeup was a 10/10 as the penguin. Dano was suitably deranged as The Riddler. Pattinson was very good and had good chemistry with Kravitz. Solid, but unspectacular entry into the canon. 7.4
I really struggled with this movie. I had to stop halfway through and only came back after there was nothing else to watch a few days later.
Honestly this did not seem like a Batman movie. It did not seem and feel like Gotham city. The characters were all off. The only part of this that connected with the character of Batman was the title of the movie.
This was dark. It was long. But at the end of the day the entire movie was completely irrelevant. Nothing happened in this movie that I connected with or was invested in. The graphics were okay with the actual story The villain and the hero were all subpar.

It was pretty good, not very good but pretty good. DC is a mess though, there are so many universes to keep track off, the kid from Titans was in the movie, scratch that cause their Batman's from Game of Thrones, then there's the Snyderverse, which i guess is still on, cuz "the justice league" appeared at the end of Peacemaker, and now this creates another shared universe.
Good overall but clearly below the Dark Knight. Clear issues are: it feels like Batman got confused and ended up in a Seven sequel; weak ending; lamest batmobile ever; lack of strong musical theme.
One of the best, if not the best, Batman movies IMO. Great acting and script and a very good story. My two complaints would be that Pattinson doesn't pull off the Bruce Wayne part at all, and I mean at all, well, way to 'Goth' and that some of the dialogue / monologues were overly long and too muffled, dragging the movie out to nearly 3 hours where it could have probably lost 30 minutes or so. That said, I didn't find myself feeling overly bored with the lengthier dialogue but I did nearly reach for the F/Fwd button a couple of times. Definitely hope they do another.

I really liked it! Felt like a live-action version of the 90's Batman:TAS, except for one thing (well two, but I get get behind getting rid of almost all of his quippy remarks): in this, Batman moves like a freaking tank.. It's always slow, heavy steps with heavy boots (sure, probably more realistic, but still), taking shots and even explosions from a very close distance (aaand away goes the realism).
Sure, it's very intimidating, but in B:TAS he's much more sneaky and intimidates by making it so the bad guys often don't know where he is, so he can strike how and when he wants to. The only time I got that feeling was when he [spoiler]snuck in to the club to get Falcone, and even then it was really only that first guard he snuck by in a B:TAS manner[spoiler].
Other than that, gorgeous movie! I love the style and the direction!
Also, Colin Farrell is way harder to recognise than Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder! I like those kinds of cameos, where a famous actor is playing a role (and does it well), but you can't even tell who it is.

Okay - this was a good film. Well made, well cast and another new look and approach to the characters.
It was dull and dark though. Minimal action and what there was was unclear and often felt out of place. Long expositions of plot and everything felt so compartmentalised that it never really flowed. At least 45 mins too long and certainly lost my interest.
I can support it going forward and look forward to seeing these characters again but needs a tighter and better edited film to keep it interesting.

I don't know why every everyone dislikes this movie, it was pretty good. Story could've been shorter but since it's Batman, no story would've made sense if it was shorter than 2 and a half hours. Nonetheless, pretty enjoyable but not for a 2nd time

Oz, the Penguin was played very good. The Falcon too. Others act very poor.
The idea of mixing Saw inspired plot is ok. But again, this movie could be 1 1/2h long without losing anything.
Please bring Nolan brothers back into the game and let them make another Dark knight movie.

To start, I loved this film. It wasn't perfect, but it was a top tier superhero film that leaned heavily into the detective aspect of Batman's lore. The mood was oppressive in how dark it was, the characters all flawed in their own ways, and world felt real & lived in. Pattinson was surprisingly a great Batman and Kravitz was an inspired Catwoman. The rest of the cast was also top notch, with Dano a terrifying villain. The few things I didn't like we're the obvious setups for sequels or TV shows or whatnot. Is it just not possible to have a self-contained movie any more? Barring those details, the hype is warranted. This is a hell of a film. Easily worth the 3 hour investment.

An incredibly messy and janky script that doesn't know what it wants to be. It's stuck between trying to be a neo-noir detective story and a superhero movie with a supervillain and fails spectacularly at being either and both. So many scenes that are supposed to be tense that have zero stakes set up including the finale, which comes out of nowhere, dramatically raises the stakes with no setup at all and is executed awfully. And so. many. plot. holes.
This isn't a bad movie but it had no right being as long as it did. A tight 2 hour script that ended at a certain point would have made for a perfectly fine detective crime movie with a little bit of the Batman sprinkled in. As it is, it's a really meh film that ruins its own good parts with an equal amount of bad
A great comeback as a solo Batman film.Riddler was the key here as all the other villains of Batman franchise.
Appreciate the aesthetic and vibe, Pattinson, Farrell and Turturro are great, the noir mystery is a great route to go, and the action is refreshing for the character, Batman as more of a blunt instrument, a tank that doesn’t care about the damage he takes. The dark hallway scene is a standout. And I also appreciate the attempt to go beyond the usual Batman film, addressing the consequences of Batman as vengeance, but that also highlights where it falters. Paul Dano goes right into some uncomfortable tropes as the Riddler, and the film makes a lot of fuss about the system being corrupt while making sure to stress the good ones. Jim’s a good cop, Thomas is a good man… Thomas especially irks when they raise the possibility of him being corrupt only to reassure he is still the same paragon billionaire as always. The good one.
Of course I wasn’t expecting this film to be some masterful manifesto, it’s a big budget mainstream superhero film, and as one it’s pretty good, hence the three and a half stars. But the Telltale games still feel like the most daring adaption.

Long, slow, dark, predictable… If you made it without yawning you have my respects.
The director obviously loves the original Blade Runner because he's trying so hard to create the same visuals and tone, but, unfortunately, he lacks everything else that made that movie great. The story was weak and dragging it out to 3 hours just made that more apparent. We almost quit in the first half an hour and then wound up at the 2-2:30 mark feeling as though we had to finish just because we'd already invested so much time. The acting felt like a group of actors who are normally only cast in supporting roles got together and made a movie where they could be the leads, but in doing so it became apparent why they are better at supporting. Pattinson was trying to be emo so hard but it felt like someone's dad dressing up as their kid for Halloween.
Overall, we were bored and unimpressed but I realize we will probably be in the minority. If you're a Batman or DC fan, don't let me dissuade you, go ahead and watch it. You may completely disagree with me.
Decent movie, Paterson and Dano did a good job, Kravitz less so, and of course there had to be a "white privilege" line. However, so unnecessarily long.

It’s an ok movie but the worst actor to ever play Batman, it’s dark like Keatons Batman but the writing and acting isn’t nearly as good..this movie might as well have been filmed any weekend in New York or Chicago and we would have seen much of the same stuff.

Very solid movie. Who knew someone could make an even more realistic Batman than Christopher Nolan. I thought it was clearly inspired by Fincher's Seven. The atmosphere, lighting and the plot.
I knew I'm going to like this when they showed the dark around the eyes makeup and also that it wasn't like 2 ridiculous circles. It was like a makeup gone wrong. Like every time he took off his mask, you think he was messy and he had cried a lot. Also this doesn't mean every Batman movie should be bleak and dark like this. You can try different things at different times.

I love this. I’ve always loved the darkness in Batman but the way this starts even makes Batman out as this dark, dangerous thing. Not the saviour of the unfortunate, but fear itself. Shadows. Even the police dislike him. But oh my gods this jawline. That’s the perfect one to put in a bat mask. And he’s so damaged and dirty. The imperfection and failures are wonderful.
The soundtrack, wrapping it all up from beginning to end, was great too. Beautifully dystopian.
They put a lot of story into those almost 3 hours, as they should. We even get a “heroes” journey. From being all about vengeance to realising vengeance doesn’t change anything.
And gosh did I just squeal when Puddin started talking there in the end?
After all of this, I think I can safely say that this is my favourite Batman of all time.
3 hour film that could have been done in less than 2, very little action and an awful lot of meaningless chat.. Very disappointing film..!!
This was a great Batman film. Robert Pattinson is a perfect fit for the role as is Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. The movie is definitely not your average blockbuster movie but that is a good thing in the end. I especially loved the beautiful visuals and also the already iconic soundtrack by Michael Giacchino.
While the film and acting was superb I found it to suffer a bit from the longer running time. The relationships were a little loose too but it was refreshing to see shorter action scenes and more detective work from our Bat for a change.
I look forward to a sequel

I'm always going to like the miserable Gotham City and its vibe but this movie overlonged that. The story could've easily be ended in about 2 hrs give or take but they had to take it to almost 3 hours of useless bore. Nonetheless, it wasn't that bad as people had told me.
Definitely not worth watching for a second time.

it's was fun to watch but nothing groundbreaking
it's important to remember that this Batman is only 2 years into his crime fighting career so don't expect from him what a veteran Batman can do because I noticed that this Batman was:
_He's social where he's working with others and showing himself regularly instead of fighting in the dark
_His punches have no weight since everyone he hits they stand up right after
_He gets hit and fucked a lot which is expected
_His Batcave is primitive to what we're used to from a veteran Batman
so it's important to be aware of how new this Batman is before comparing it to other Batman movies.. but all that aside the movie was just fine as I said nothing special and in a way very refreshing since it's so different from any Batman movie we've seen before
at the end I'm excited to explore this world more and see Batman becomes Batman and not just Vengeance

I’m pretty sure this was supposed to be a 10h tv show, wrapped up in the worst possible way to get a big screen release, because no writer could do this abomination without a fair reason.
I liked many (not all) of the previous Batman movies for different reasons but this is the new benchmark for me. I liked every second of it and even at three hours I never felt bored.
This will also be hard to follow up because now expectations are sky high.

A good movie that would survive some more editing. But honestly it was kinda nice to see a film let things breathe. I think pattinson and Kravitz have excellent chemistry. The problem imo is that I don't think Wayne and Kyle have as much chemistry leaving to a weird sensation where you don't really want to see them together and yet when they are it feels so good.
Jeffrey Write needs more roles.
FYI. I refuse to take ANY Joker seriously in the first 2 maybe 3 Batman films of any specific franchise so it was great to see Riddler in this one. he was good. Penguin is a nice secondary and I can see him growing. He could be a good lead for number 2 and after that they'll probably cave and do Joker again which will be... reductive.

Now. WOW!! This is a fantastic version of the Dark Knight. As reviewers have pointed out - this movie concentrates more on the dective skills of Batman and less on big flashy fight scenes.
The Batman/Penguin chase scene was pretty awesome tho.
And speaking of the Penguin - Colin Farrell never looked better. j/k However his makeup was phenomenal. You could not tell that it was him.
One more thing. I sure wish Warner Brothers would hurry up and decide on their overall strategy for the DC movies. Currently, it seems like they change their strategy with each movie. Some kind of consistency sure would be nice.

As a fan of DC and Batman character I'm so disappointed. Bad fighting scenes, the car is a joke, the bike is bad, fighting with the thugs is just nothing special, Batman most of time is just walking and staying passive, no action, no stunts, no dynamic, NO GADGETS?! The car is really bad, Is it just boring. The story is good but is presented bad. Maybe with another director. This one looks like someone who never read a comic book or watch DC animations. Only thing that I like is the darkness of Gotham - it was presented accurate. Where was the cave?. About Robert Pattinson I have nothing to say - playing the role good. It's director's fault that the movie is so bad. If you a consider to watch it and you are a fan - don't expect too much, you will be disappointed
Bulletproof Batman. The bullets don’t get through the suit and Batman doesn’t even feel the hits. Did someone shoot in the back of the head where there is only a small layer? In the final scene, however, a shotgun from close range hurt badly even though it didn’t pass the suit. WTF?
And why is James Gordon black? Does not make any sense.
However, I thought the movie was pretty good, except for Selena’s mask. I liked the movie surprisingly much.

I may have approached it with a bit of Batman fatigue asking, “Do we really need another Batman franchise?” When it began, I thought, “They are very deliberately pacing this very slow.” Jeffrey Wright’s delivery was especially telling, because I’m familiar with his work and the cadence of his speech. Then, I began to watch for other deliberate choices, music, colour, lighting, the sparse presence of Bruce Wayne. Slowly, I began to believe the characters, the city, the decay, the ominous gloom, until, ultimately, I realized this was a unique and powerful adaptation of the Batman source material with rich depths. I was totally won over. The casting is great, the performances are anchored, the soundtrack is perfectly evocative. I give this film a 10 (masterful) out of 10. [Superhero Drama]

This was one of the better Batman movies, despite the vampire boy who played Bruce Wayne.
I wanted to love this but it just fell short of watchable. I'm the last person to complain about a film taking its time and doing things 'properly' but this cut could have been a lot tighter.
It starts off strong and I like that we have the detective side of Batman showing... But its just lacklustre all round. The story meanders and holds no real weight, the ridder was fucking irritating. Though his little incel horde was pretty realistic. And that 'Joker'. Ugh.
For all the hype this has been getting I was expected a lot more.
I really think all these high scores are from Covid lockdown and so anxious to see a movie anything would be good.
If you compare the villains it does not even come close in the trilogy. Also, the action scenes are weak sauce. Even the gadgets are so basic. I thought it was way too long with not much going on. It was worth a watch but not even close in my opinion to the trilogy of Christopher Nolan made.
Everyone is breaking their back to say how much better this version of Batman is. I think it is just "okay." Certainly gritty and dirty, but not all that "super hero-ey."
I think I'll just watch the Gotham TV series if you don't mind.

However there was ZERO need for Catwoman and this would have shaved off 25+ mins of pointless footage, the movie would still have made sense without her. Music was modern with remnants of the classics which im sure we all appreciated. Cinematography was perfect! Next step is to seriously bulk up Batman and phase out the Emo. I would love to see Matts take on Professor Pyg :scream:. Hush has been set up for the next movie which will really need to be done incredibly well!
