I'd almost rather watch paint dry, seriously.
Thankfully not another tired Taken clone. This one tries to be a bit more dramatic whilst having a few action sequences to bolster it.
It's a bit of a Rambo V in quality - ie. cheap and sombre. It does benefit from the relationship with the boy though.
It was okay. Predictable yet not boring. There has been worse put out by Neeson these last few years but you wouldn't watch this a second time.
6.25/10
A very forgettable movie. An old man, struggling with making decisions. And no basic idea how to avoid haunters.
6/10.. more a drama than action/thriller. Neeson is superb as always, and some good eye candy in Katherine Winnick.
Film dragged on and was a bit slow at times, but overall I enjoyed it. Not as bad as some other comments and criticism suggest, but not a film I’d go out and recommend either.. however, overall it was decent.
Great Movie, Neeson lovers will like it.
Looks typical Liam Neeson, but I don't see anything wrong with that at all

For a movie named "The Marksman", there ought to be more shootouts.
I’ve got nothing positive to say about this movie
The Liam Neeson version of Rambo: Last Blood, literally. Aging, down-on-his-luck rancher whose ranch just happens to run adjacent to the Mexican border gets crossways with the Mexican cartel. Then somehow manages to show them he's not one to mess with. Why it's called The Marksman is anyone's guess, though, because apart from casually mentioning that he was a Marine, there's never any mention of his marksmanship skills, or any storyline about how good/bad he is with a weapon. Definitely not his most captivating movie, but at least he didn't wear a toga and bellow "Release the Kraken!" .
This marksman misses the target. Neeson is as dependable as always but the film doesn’t have a good enough script to ignite excitement or soulful emotion.
Liam Neeson is ok in the movie but there is a lack of chemistry between him and the other players. Seems like they picked a well known actor and threw him into a low budget movie with other unknown not-so-good actors. There was a potential but it never blossomed. Did not like the movie.
Motivation is non-existent in this movie and I just did not side with any character here at all. Terrible writing but okay acting from all involved. Music choices too add nothing. Boring as all heck.
This was actually better than what I thought it would be. It was a fun action crime for a pg-13.
A pretty good plot and film as it did keep the viewer on the edge of your seat and the layout of the plot was good, but overall it was east to predict the plot and it just played out like a slap together film with no extra theatrics or plot development. Follows a patrol officer who is struggling to catch up with house payments after his wife passed and decides to be heroic and guard an illegal immigrant’s son from the cartel.
Honestly, I expected this to be some crap Eastwood knockoff with more action since it's Neesom of how the white guy is a jackass who thinks he's better than everyone else and manages to "save" some kid while reinforcing racist stereotypes of hate of the Hispanic community.
So yes, a white guy, Neesom, does save a Hispanic kid. No, it's really not an action flick. It's more a mission of redemption. A couple of the parts could've been better written, especially the part in the church, but the part before that about the dog is touching as Neesom's character realizes his own selfishness. Neesom plays that moment perfectly.
If you are hoping for your racist bias to be reinforced here, this movie will disappoint, enough I suspect to whine and cry about lack of this or that in the comments about everything else but the heart strings it pulls against those biases.
It's a good drama, well acted, very good chemistry between Neesom and the young man, Jacob Perez. I like many of the other ratings was expecting it to be racist reinforcement garbage, only I was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't.
It's a movie about redemption and hope. and there it definitely delivers.
Of course, people will watch this for Liam Neeson and, maybe, Katheryn Winnick, but may be surprised by the talent of young Jacob Perez. The tone of this movie is somber. It doesn’t really rise to the level of an action flick or a thriller but teeters more along the lines of a drama. I give this film a 6 (fair) out of 10. [Drama]
With some known actors in it, I was of the misconception this would be something good, or special.
Instead, most of it is kind of a snooze fest, some regurgitated tale of the ole, retired soldier with nothing left to lose, suddenly finding himself in the role of a young child's caretaker while fleeing from some bad guys.
Nothing about this was really new, but while tales are being retold all the time, this one didn't really add anything that made it worth watching. I probably won't remember it in a few weeks. Instead... Hunt for the Wilderpeople, I do remember.
The most boring movie i have ever seen don’t waste your time on this
Not even Liam Neeson can save an action thriller as bland and predictable as this one. Not god awful or totally stupid, but generic and your time deserves better.
Not going to say this was bad, it was pretty meh, but for a movie called 'the marksman' I really expected more.... ummm.... marksmanship? He has got a few good shots but overall very little gunplay. Its also predictable and unrealistic.
For example he has a bag of cartel money right, and they are looking for his specific truck that he knows is going to breakdown on him, but he does go to a car lot and buy a used truck for a few grand? Stuff like that. Doesn't kill it, but does put holes in the story.
This is a terrible, terrible movie! Does it deserve 1 point? No. Are there worse films - yes. But this is totally boring movie, that has been promoted as Liam Neeson flick, so it deserves a higher criteria in valuation and thus for me it's complete bullish. The movie is so ordinary and the script is so bland it's painful to watch. It is one and a half hour long that slogs like 3 hours. An action movie, that I had to sleep through before watching the last 20 minutes, that's how hopelessly unwatchable it is. Obviously Liam Neeson is at the end of his career, but he is a good actor and it is shame that he has been stereotypically cast in the last 10 years playing the same role of ex-spy, ex-marine, ex-commando etc. who has been put in a place to protect innocents over and over again, which ofc is his role in The Marksman. The movie is not as appalling as any DeNiro movie in the last decade, but still I would rate it lower than that. Because sometimes even a bad movie can have more entertaining value than an average movie. For example, I'd rather see Chuck Norris Missing in Actionthan any movie Neeson or Deniro did in the last 10 years.
Good way to pass the time - I like these types of films.
I was expecting to see more 'marksmanship' in the movie. So that was kind of a downer. On the other hand, this is not like Neesons other more recent movies. There's a lot less running and hand-to-hand fighting involved. Overall, the movie is OK tho.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Same as many, a shame it could have been great, the actors where let down by the story and direction.
I watched it all but wont be revisiting the film.
For Liam Neeson fans.
A decent watch
Rather boring and predictable. Watch it in absence of better movies.
Drunk guy running around with guns and a child (who is brown, so the child of a drug dealer who needs to be rescued by the white guy). Proof that the Hollywood is liberal myth is nonsense.
For the types of movies which are coming out in recent years this was not that bad.
great movie been waiting since janurary to watch . typical liam neeson action movie but very good especially considering all the b movies of covid in 2020. you cant beat liam neeson and kathryn winnick
His worse movie of all time, blah and boring and he's very stupid in it! you never kill the dog
Wow, I expected something at least well from Neeson+Winnick, instead I got only marginally interesting 1:45h...
Hey i have to save and hel this kid because mommy told me to do so.
A very weak story and weak acting.
Is it a generic, predictable movie with a little bit of action ? Sure is.
But it is a generic, predictable movie with a little bit of action featuring Liam Neeson with Katheryn Winnick on the side.
And that works for me, alright.
But why do they always kill the guy's dog? Didn't they watch John Wick ?

It's not a typical Liam movie. OK, he is running around a bit but not as much as before. I would expect a little more action but I see that he is getting older day by day like me. Timekiller.
