The Suicide Squad 2021

On the surface this film is about a group of people who have been labelled “villains”, working together to save the world. But really, this film is about one man and one man alone, he isn’t strong, but yet he defies all odds and sacrifices his life to save his friends. His only power is his bravery, he is the driver of the van and the main character of this film, Milton.

Why do we need another suicide squad movie?

loading replies

this movie was worse than the first one

loading replies

Gunn really took the “your mom” jokes to a new level

this movie is ridiculous and I love it

loading replies

Here's what I was thinking, in order, as I watched this movie:

1. Not enough Harley
2. Slow
3. Not enough Harley
4. For an action movie, this is much too sedate
5. Not enough Harley
6. Boring plot. In fact...what is the plot?
7. Ok, Harley escapes and kicks ass to Louis Prima. Sweet!
8. Remind me again what the plot is?
9. Damn, still another hour to go
10. Remind me again what the plot is?
11. Oh. Right. A giant bubble gum coloured starfish cyclops...and some rats.
12. Wait, wasn't that Peter Capaldi earlier with the crayons sticking out of his head?
13. When did this become a Doctor Who movie?
14. Hang on, Bill the Cat wasn't a DC character!!!
14. WTF?!?!?

loading replies

Pete Davidson is in this movie then this is a hard pass for me. Everytime I see his face I want to punch it.

loading replies

The movie jumped from incoherent plot point to the next with a super idiotic big villian and a super obvious ending. A random series of unevents just designed to be whacky. I tried to like this but it was hot trash

loading replies

Beautifully made. Coherent and comedic unlike its predecessor. Wasn’t familiar with most of the characters but loved them nonetheless! Harley’s plot development was unexpected yet smooth. :) Epic movie. Polka Dot Man deserved better though. </3

loading replies

wow...they managed to do a worst movie than the previous one, when I thought it to be imposible.

loading replies

Just balls to the wall fun. A reminder of how fun superhero movies can be when a director can have actual control, do their thing, and not worry about continuity or studio branding. I hollered at Starro, teared up over some rats, laughed at Cena, and I'll watch and enjoy Elba in anything. Robbie gets some good stuff here, even if it's not Birds of Prey level. With a stellar cast, creative fight scenes, and an eye for entertainment, it's a nice remedy for the same-y superhero movies we've been stuck with.

loading replies

These ratings are suspect. 7.5? The movie was puke. I fell asleep 3 times.

loading replies

What the hell did I just watch ! A giant starfish ? I'm kinda numb at how bad this was compared to the original.

loading replies

This film was kinda a mess but I still really enjoyed it. There was kind of no structure, it was very predictable, and a lot of characters had very forced in backstory exposition. But the film had charm, and that held it all together. As long as you like the characters, you'll like the film.

Also Polka-Dot Man is incredible and I love him.

loading replies

An unremarkable movie with little substance for me. I was simply bored. Characters died unremarkable deaths and it was kind of a slog to get through. For all the issues the first one had, it was entertaining enough to watch. I personally didn’t feel like I wasted that time then. With this one it’s completely a waste.

loading replies

This movie is so laughably bad  honestly, only watch this if you have time to kill and you hate yourself.

loading replies

Couldn't even get through this movie...turned it off after about 50 minutes and have ZERO regrets.

loading replies

What a fun ride. I enjoyed every bit of it.

loading replies

this movie takes every absolutely stupid and ridiculous superhero trope and subverts it into something entertaining and nonstop fun. is it a masterpiece? not really, but then again no comics movie is (unless it's into the spiderverse then fuck you it's perfect and gamechanging and has a superhero pig how dare you). but it's pure entertainment, for a straight two hours and some change. even in the emotional moments and brutal gore scenes, this movie is a cinematic delight.

i hope this and the success of snyder's dc entries show producers that good directors know what they're doing. let them do what they fucking want, pay their immensely skilled and underappreciated teams to make the final cuts look the way they've been envisioned, and you'll get people watching your content.

like the only reason i'm still paying for hbo max every month even during a career switch is for the ability to see people get to make this kind of shit.

loading replies

so much Deadpool but not Deadpool

loading replies

I'm not gonna lie. I initially decided to watch this because I am a complete-ist. It wasn't out of any deep desire to see it, and I had very low expectations as a result. But now, having watched it, it was a LOT funnier and more entertaining than it had any right to be, gore and all. The entire cast does a great job, but none better than Elba, who is pitch-perfect as the VERY angry and put-upon reluctant leader of this band of idiots.

loading replies

Couldn’t believe how bad this movie was

loading replies

This was a goofy, gory, and surprisingly fun mess of awesome. The 2 hours and 15 minutes flew by. The majority of the jokes land, the violence is appropriately bonkers, the twists neither brain-dead dumb nor too out of left field. And the cast (and guest appearances) are perfect in their roles. The action set pieces totally work and the final big bad is perfectly ludicrous. I genuinely would put this towards the top of DC's crop of superhero films and think it should be supremely enjoyable for all superhero and action fans.

loading replies

I thought it was fun in a way. However... I cannot forgive the laziness in tying all the skits/bits together. It needed a lot longer to bake in the writers' room. Not a good "film", but has some bits/gags you'll appreciate as a fan.

I'm impressed with how good this film turned out. It's better than the prequel

I have to give John Cena his flowers; his acting skills has improved drastically since his first film 12 Rounds.

loading replies

This was a bad circus act.
No plot, forced jokes which not landed.
A cast like this, what went 'in the wrong direction', it hurts your eyes.

I think I was drugged, cause the movie I saw was a way different as the people who overrated this freakshow.

Even Harley could not save this mess.

'In memorial' you better watch the 2016 version (again). If you like to spent your time we'll.

loading replies

Is it better than the first film? Yes. Is it the best movie within the DCEU? Quite probably, yes. Does it live up to the hype? Mostly. James Gunn certainly has a flair for anarchy and comic book action, and for the most part, the movie is a blast. It weakens every time it slows down, especially during scenes that are unnecessary to the plot. However, the action and humour prevalent throughout the rest of the movie ensures a good time overall.

loading replies

what James Gunn has against birds, he killed a shitload of them in this movie

loading replies

Honestly great freaking film

I didn't have much expectations but this really surprised me

I loved the direction James Gunn took with this film, the characters were weirdly working well together and made me actually care about them

Also they way this film was directed feels refreshing, loved the camera panning and zooming in & out.. also the tags he puts within the environments were cool and made the film feel organized like it has chapters

Lastly one of the highlights of the movie is that it was gory and very bloody.. James Gunn made sure it's an R rated film by also including some unnecessary nudity LOL

not to say it didn't have some downsides like how useless The Thinker was in this and didn't do much but overall the movie was fun and didn't take itself seriously so in my book it did what it wanted to achieve

An entertaining ultra-violent smorgasbord of mayhem.

Although more meaningful dialogue between characters would’ve been appreciated, one must understand that this a real ‘Suicide Squad’ film. Idris Elba killed it as Bloodsport and it was awesome to see a different side of his acting chops. More time with King Shark would’ve been great, especially if he had been more frequently paired with Harley Quinn. Margot Robbie is always perfect as Harley Quinn.

While I know this is a James Gunn movie, I found his selection of songs for the soundtrack overbearing and sometimes undermined the tone of a scene. The score by John Murphy was pretty great though.

This film really makes me yearn for a much needed Harley Quinn sequel, especially one together with Poison Ivy.

loading replies

A disgusting piece of garbage.

loading replies

What the f*** did I watch?

I honestly wish I could step back in time and not spend my money at the theater to see Suicide Squad. Don't get me wrong, it had its moments, but they were far and few between for me to care. For me, the best parts contained Harley and some of the movie seriously lacked Harley. Bloodsport and Rat Catcher 2 weren't bad, but don't get attached to basically any other character. I think I'm still scratching my head over that big bad at the end. I mean, really?

And I'm so glad that someone stood up to Amanda Waller, but do I feel sorry for those agents now. She's going to kill them, isn't she?

loading replies

The Suicide Squad has so many f*cked-up and morally bankrupt storylines in the comics and that's what they could come up with?!? A search & destroy mission that a single bomber aircraft could've accomplished?? JFC

Unsurprisingly, Harley Quinn has the most ridiculous plot armor throughout the movie. "Bloodsport" is just Deadshot played by a different actor, has nothing in common character-wise with Bloodsport (Robert DuBois) from the comics. And they ruined the Thinker.

loading replies

If this is supposed to be the good one I'm glad I dodged the 2016 movie, and this is the best thing I can say about this mess of a movie

loading replies

2:15 hours of my life I can't get back!!! What the F*** was that garbage? One of the worst movies ever. Should have stopped after the first Suicide Squad 2016, which was a wonderful thrill ride. Only enjoyable character was Margo Robbie's "Harley Quinn". All the other "Characters" were lame, especially King Shark and other sea life. lol. Glad I didn't waste any money on this S***.

loading replies

Personally, i think i was lied to, they told us that the movie was awesome, but it was just 'nice', which is the worst compliment for a movie that was hyped up so much. Sure, few great action scenes here and there (which is honestly nothing i haven't seen before) but no cast chemistry, no real stakes, do not care at all about the story, and worst of all, no fuckin humour, i mean all the jokes used were in the friggin trailer. I mean tried to convince myself that maybe I'm wrong, maybe it really is as good as they say, but it's not, for me at least.

loading replies

I did not expect this movie to be as entertaining as it was. I had always thought Chris Pratt and the rest of the Guardians actors were the only reason those movies were so good but man was I wrong! Gunn has now taken two superhero groups that were not expected to produce blockbuster movies like the Avengers, Justice League, Fantastic Four or X-Men because of their lack of popularity and knocked them out of the park! I'd like to see what he could do with a premiere superhero team like X-Men or Fantastic Four. They both need a reboot and he would be a great choice to take one of them over!

loading replies

It's easy to compare James Gunn's Suicide Squad to 2016 Suicide Squad, but I would say that it's closer to Deadpool or Deadpool 2, minus the fourth wall breaking, plus the stylish visuals. The film is R-rated due to excessive blood, gore, and death - and just like Deadpool's X-Force, expect lots of deaths in this film, sometimes even (or perhaps especially) for comedic effects. So don't hold too dearly to those characters and casts.

In spite of the violence and comedic galore, at times the film still manages to put some stake in between the action/violent/comedic sequences. Nothing too serious, but enough for a action blockbuster that would make the tense rises up a little bit. The films also tries to bond the characters a little bit well in some banters, and the pacing works well between comedic and character moments (unlike the 2016 film).

James Gunn was right when he said superhero movies have been too formulaic (looking at you, MCU) so it's quite nice he managed to pull this off. However, considering the Deadpool-ish similarities, I hope Gunn is not in the process of setting up a new formula himself.

loading replies

It was good but the first one is better

The first one sucked. Why this one exists is beyond me. Start making movies ppl want to see. Voltron, More Superman, Batman, an actual GOOD joker movie.

The dudes who give the green light to movies in Hollywood need to all be fired. They don’t know what the fuck they are doing.

Less of this shit. Again, this movie is shit.

Margot Robbie is a shit actress. Yes she is pretty. But I’m tired of watching what she calls acting. Joel kinnaman is just as bad on the male front. His over acting ass needs to be stopped.

John Cena is the worst thing to ever happen to movies. Like the rock, but with absolutely no acting ability. An ape with muscles.

at least will smith isn’t in this one

loading replies

I agree with those who say that it is a good mix Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool. Has post-credits scene

loading replies

Was it perfect? No. Was it worth watching? Yes. The story as a whole was good. My main problem was that it bounces back and forth a few times. I felt like this took me out of the movie and threw the overall pacing off. At the end of the day, it was good but I'm not dying to sit down again and rewatch it anytime soon.

loading replies

It's an improvement from the previous Suicide Squad, but still i found it kinda boring at times. Overall, i would give it a 6,5/7 out of 10, which in "DC terms" is pretty high. If you thought that Slipknot from the previous one was useless and had a quick death, you'll not be surprised to find that the same happens to half of the crew that was promotioned. There was a reason they only appeared to be in a single scene. Robbie's work it really sticking to her, so it's a bonus. Bloodsport is just the old Deadshot, but other character. Peacemaker and King Shark are the comic relief (at least well done), Ratcatcher and Polka-dot were meh for me. Nothing fancy, but again, an improvement from old DC's work

loading replies

Star of this movie: SEBASTIAN!

loading replies

James Gunn needs to see a therapist.

loading replies

They actually did it. I did not believe they could pull it off, but they did. This reboot is even dumber than the original.

loading replies

Definitely not a cinematic masterpiece, but this rendition honestly was fun to watch. It doesn't take itself too seriously at any point and I think that works in its favor here.

loading replies

A refreshingly fun and then enjoyable movie. Clever humour that did not take away from the more serious aspects of the movie.

All the key characters were well written allowing them to have distinctive motivations and personalities. I am hard pressed to pick a favourite.

The pacing was consistent with a well structured conclusion that made this a satisfying movie to watch.

One of the best movies of this style I have seen in a long time. I strongly recommend it.

loading replies

Well the first 15 minutes are entirely pointless other than to show us humanity is despicable.
Sending out people to suicide is one thing, making bets and being happy over them dying is another.

Gets better after that, but I’m getting annoyed at little things. Like why do we see the only woman in the camp doing the dishes? Unnecessary.

Other than that, pretty enjoyable humour. Like the cavalry coming riding when Harley had it all under control. Her training acrobatics paid off. Could totally see her having fun, just killing people to the soundtrack in her head.
Not sure why I enjoyed that little moment where Bloodsport crashes against the wall and his helmet broke.

And rats are cool and powerful in numbers and all, but why would people just instantly die as soon as they have a few rats walk over them. Like they don’t seem to be biting or anything, simply running. But ok. The way the squad dealt with the mf kaiju was pretty neat. Everyone had a role to play. Except the weasel and peacemaker. They were both useless.

loading replies

This is what I hoped for for the first Suicide Squad.

loading replies

Another incarnation of the Dirty Dozen with a specific humor. What more could you possibly want from a twisted action movie? :)

loading replies

All in all, I enjoyed this movie.
King Shark is hilarious with his childlike antics and mentality. The ongoing competition between Bloodsport and Peacemaker is brilliant and leads us wonderfully into some very Tarantino-esque splatter-friendly kill scenes.
Introductions to the characters’ backstories helps delve into their psyches and why they are as broken as they are.
Another wonderful portrayal from Margot - although a shame they removed her Rotten tattoo on the cheek. But on the flip side, a nice nod to how she no longer belongs to Joker on the shoulder tat.
I feel that Clifford Devoe didn’t really include much thinking so felt a touch let down by that character.
I was utterly surprised by how much I loved Polka Dot Man.

Am I the only one who prefers Suicide Squad (2016) over this? I find TSS unnecessary, a waste of time, and tries too hard to be funny. I also didn't like that they replaced Deadshot with Bloodsport, I know it's not really a replacement per say, but then again the characters are so similar you can't help but compares them. Even their names sound alike.

Fans of James Gunn are so quick to say that TSS is better than SS because they like films he directed but I'm glad that I watched both SS and TSS before I judged for myself. I'm a huge fan of superheroes movies but unfortunately this film will be a one-time thing. Never again.

loading replies

I couldn't watch for more than 1 hour.

loading replies

This was really super super bad…

loading replies

Good potential ruined by giving 200 million dollars or whatever this movie cost to a bunch of infantile. Jokes were gradeschool level and the villain... I won't spoil it you have to see it to believe it

loading replies

This is what you wait to see when you hear the name Suicide Squad. It's another similar movie but It's OK. They can shoot as many of the similar movie over and over again with some changes. We'll watch to pass time...

loading replies

Best Parts: Bloodsport actor, Capaldi, Polka dot guy, Harley.

Worst parts: every stereotype from every comic. Too violent.

loading replies

This movie is trying so hard to be edgy/quirky and it comes off so hollow it's unbearable. The aesthetic style doesn't stand out enough and lacks the cohesion found in Gunns Guardians movies, which this is obviously copying the homework of. Nothing really gels together once the hyperviolence has worn out its shock value, leaving only a few jokes that land throughout the whole runtime. It's a decent, braindead-entertainment movie, but it's so devoid of individual flair that it almost feels like you're watching a fake hero movie that's featured as a joke in a real hero movie. I did enjoy Polka-Dot Man, Ratcatcher and King Shark though, so I'm sort of sad we won't see further appearances of those characters now the DCEU is being rebooted once more.
This has granted me the privilege of watching the Peacemaker TV show though, so hopefully that'll redeem this mediocre fest of a movie.

loading replies

Hot garbage, The Suicide Squad goes wrong almost from the start and only get worse as it goes along. The plot is convoluted as all get-out with one mission turning into another and then another and then another. And the characters chosen for this new Suicide Squad are some of the dumbest and most idiocy in the DC catalog (and most of them aren’t killers). Margot Robbie and Idris Elba both deliver strong performances, but the rest of the cast is pretty weak and don’t have much charisma. Still, some of the comedy works and there are a couple of exciting action scenes. The Suicide Squad has a couple of spired moments of crazy zaniness, but it’s mostly just stupid and not funny.

loading replies

Abner I love you so much

loading replies

It's a chaotic and fun. Margot's Harley is getting a bit old, but I did enjoy Peacemaker, Bloodsport and King Shark a lot. I don't think the story is much better than the original, but as a whole the movie is different, funnier and more over the top that the other one. That makes it a solid watch.

loading replies

Gets off to a bit of a rough start but really ended up loving this film by the end. John Cena also stole the show in my opinion.

loading replies

James Gunn does know how to direct a superhero movie.

loading replies

Really enjoyed this one. Was worried Gunn would go full Marvel with the laughs but it balanced well and funny too.

Had total Plague Tale vibes from Cleo and totally adore King Shark

loading replies

I really need to find my remote to turn this off. Probably the worst film I've ever seen. I have also seen Lake Placid.

loading replies

Episode 10x03
When DC nails it, it is said and period! The hand of James Gunn shows a lot in this crazy, bloody and epic story. Diverse characters and crazy situations elevate the latest from Warner-DC to the category of great success.

loading replies

I wanted to love this, especially with the addition of acting skills of Elba. But it was short of expectations. DC continues to struggle with plot lines for the less known characters. If they can't find true DC comic fans to help bring these to life, there's really no point. The writing just fell away badly. In short, it's not a Marvel lesser known character movie that will draw you in. It's lacking that umpf.

loading replies

Utter and total garbage, couldn’t finish it

loading replies

Hilarious, gory, action-packed and absurdly fun to watch film.

loading replies

It is absurd and fun. Too much blood. Strange plot. It seems like a serie B movie with a lot of money.

loading replies

Wow the part was worse than expected

loading replies

When the jokes get better and worse at the same time. Parts of it have very solid jokes, fun moments, creating a good time. While at the same time it totally reeks from trying WAY too hard to make absolutely everything funny.

This is what you get when you let the Joker perform a Harley-Quinn style electro-shock therapy to the cast, writers, and director. Clearly somebody was off their meds in the making of this film... I just wouldn't say it was totally a bad thing.

loading replies

Solid fun! Hilarious at times! Better than the first previous ones! 7.5/10

loading replies

While marvel is blowing our minds multiverse and what if, dc releases this ... movie, Harley Quin and ... mostly no one else canon, on an off grid island, call it a filler if you wanna be honest, Young justice and dc animation doing amazingly great, and all we get from high budget projects, is ...

loading replies

To much of a kids movie for my taste, "jokes" and comedy worthy the Nickelodeon Channel. Nice action and acting saves it from a lower grade.

loading replies

James Gunn did better than i thought he would with this.

loading replies

Not sure why I watched this all the way till the end, but I regret it now.
What a waste. Why do they even still make dumb movies like this, why do people pay to see this?

loading replies

honestly, I love hero movies, but they're tiring and boring, but I think James Gunn knows how to make a good hero movie. I think The Suicide Squad was kind of a test, people are ready for violent hero movies? I hope so, because this is one of the paths to be followed to differentiate the genre. the movie is still not perfect, but much better than the "first", I think that by rewatching it could become one of my favorites

loading replies

Well this was a big step up from the original. More adult, more funny and yet had surprising emotional pulls. Unlike other DC films, this is bright and hits its mark more times than it misses.
Some of the lines are a bit cheesy and the plot is ridiculous but I don't mind that. I had fun from start to finish and hoe other DC films take note.
PS - please delete all record of the first film which is a car crash of a film but did at least bring us Harley Quinn...

Yet another summer blockbuster stolen by the wrestler in the cast! Not as fun as Guardians of the Universe, but big upgrade from the previous attempt at Suicide Squard. Had Harley Quinn still been a novelty, the movie would be a gem, but she is getting a little played out at this point. Not sure I'm up for more with this bunch, but it improves the DC side of the ledger at long lost.

loading replies

Yep... the best DCEU movie so far. Entertaining to say the least and good action too. The only problem is that movie by movie the connection between them is stupidly outrageous. This was just a LOT of fun! You can tell everyone in this movie just had a lot of fun making it. Definitely better than Suicide Squad.

Best bits: Harley Quinn, T.D.K., King Shark, "Mom"
Worst bits: Peace Keeper's attitude ...and the fact that somehow that character is getting it's own TV show - I hope that character has a huge personality change between now and then

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

ummm no .. just ..no ._.
ngl im here completely comparing it to the first part n this one is so shameful sorry not sorry

the characters were ridiculous :| all clowns even the handful ones from part 1 got soft like the hell ???
comedy were over the top even if it was laughable but this ain't a stand up show cmn
what's up with the overdone gore ? too much blood from a small cut ? ppl getting smashed to pieces by a small bump ? sliced like a watermelon ?? too much no ? it's an action r8 ? not a bloody horror :")
meh overall judging it as a separated movie it was fine like a 6, but compared to the real suicide squad this one is a very cheap ugly sequel, it was only tnx to Harley Queen who cared the whole show
pliz don't maks any other parts anymore enough.

"Hey, hey! He's not a werewolf, he's a weasel! He's harmless! I mean, he's not harmless, he's killed 27 children, but, you know..."

John Cena as Peacemaker was the most enjoyable for me and finding out he's getting a tv show, count me in!

All in all James Gunn's version of the Suicide Squad is a more enjoyable ride then the one that came before. Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, Peter Capaldi and John Cena are all great. I enjoyed the humor, loved seeing Killer Shark thanks to the Harley Quinn cartoon, the scene at the beginning was freaking brutal. Loved seeing Gunn mainstays Fillion and Rooker! The soundtrack is a fun one and the movie never bores you.

But unlike most of the Marvel movies and Batman, I don't know if they are doing the source material any justice. So I can't rate it against that. But I do believe it did what it set out to do. And that is being a damn enjoyable movie.
