I liked what they were trying to do here better than what they actually did. Pairing up Daria and Jake, and then Helen and Quinn is a nice mix and match that promises some good comedic sparks and possibly something deeper as well. But while Jake's always a laugh-worthy character, there was something a bit rote about him needing Daria to help impress a big potential client. He and Daria's inner monologues that results in discussions of peanuts were a highlight, but otherwise it was a story whose reach exceeded its grasp.
The same goes for Helen and Quinn's pairing. There wasn't much to it, and while the fashion club is generally a reliable source of comedy, the whole B-story felt more like wheel-spinning. There were still a number of chuckles throughout, and it was a solid, if not superior episode, but there just wasn't much to it.
