A Dr. Phil exclusive: Faith and spirituality usually bring families together. However, one family says they’ve been torn apart. Chelsea, her sister, Tara, and her mom, Linda, claim their beloved, Amy, is now allegedly a “cult leader” trying to change the world through natural healing methods. Chelsea has been writing to Dr. Phil for years because she says her sister, Amy, left the family, started calling herself “Mother God,” claims to do surgery with her hands and talk to dead people, and is so far gone, she’s already lost to her family.

The term “Karen” has become one of the most notorious names of the year. Dr. Phil investigates this term and the people it is ascribed to: typically white, middle class, entitled, aggressive or racist women. Dr. Phil meets Sandrella, dubbed “Trader Joe’s Karen,” after a video of her screaming in a supermarket for being told to wear a mask went viral. James, a man who was reprimanded by a couple for stenciling “Black Lives Matter” on his own wall, reveals how the video he took changed his life and his accusers' lives forever. But instead of excitement in the air, there’s fear and controversy in the era of coronavirus, as parents, teachers, and doctors try to navigate the onslaught of information to keep children safe. Some parents are desperately seeking a return to work and normalcy, while others say the risks of in-person classes outweigh the rewards. Dr. Phil talks to parents, doctors and teachers from all sides of the back to school debate.

Javanna admits she’s is alcohol dependent, and has resorted to drinking hand sanitizer when she is desperate for alcohol. Javanna says she blames her drinking on her mother, Tracy, due to her traumatic childhood and her mother not protecting her. Tracy says Javanna is out of control and becomes violent, argumentative, and gets in trouble with the law when she is drunk.

Upon first look, 16-year-old Andrew appears to be an adorable, unassuming, successful student. But his mother, Joy, says he’s just the opposite, claiming that for the past year, Andrew has been terrorizing his twin brother, Matthew, and oldest sister, Kaylie, with the goal of becoming a famous TikTok prankster. Joy claims Andrew has been expelled from school twice, and the police now know him by name. She claims that ever since she kicked the twins' father, Dean, out of the house, it’s been an uphill battle. But Andrew says he would stop being “bad” if only his mother would allow him to live with his father. What Does Dr. Phil think?

Susan and Randy both describe their 27-year-old son, Jacob, as “incapacitated” and virtually unable to do anything for himself, including showering regularly, making doctor appointments, filling out job applications, cleaning his bedroom … and the list goes on! Susan and Randy say they fear they will have to put off their plans of retirement and selling their home to take care of Jacob for the rest of their lives! But, there’s nothing physically wrong with Jacob! So why do his parents let him get away with living in their home in a filthy bedroom and jobless, with no plans to change anytime soon? Is Jacob lazy, or is there something seriously wrong?

Danielle says her family never recovered from her sister’s wedding day disaster almost eight years ago when she claims her mom acted like a complete lunatic. Danielle says this was one of the many moments of trauma and chaos Janet caused in her life. Her entire family has not been face-to-face for years, but they come together to confront Janet about their childhood filled with different moves, men, and disappointments, to see if she will finally take accountability for the damage she’s allegedly done.

Dr. Phil also meets Jim, a white journalist who believes the Black Lives Matter movement is a terrorist hate group targeting white people. Then, the conversation continues with Anita, who claims she was accused of trespassing and interrogated by police at a hotel where she was a paying guest, and video of the confrontation went viral. Plus, hear from a woman who says white people should never apologize for their race, and another who claims all white people have prejudice. Megan says her ex-boyfriend Andy is trying to replace her as their 5-year-old son’s mother with his fiancée, Caitlin. Megan claims Andy lied to the judge and falsely painted her as an unfit, unstable, drug addict, and the judge believed him and ordered her to have supervised visitation with their son. Megan claims Andy is now abusing the order, and he and Caitlin have only allowed her to see her son once in the past three months. Andy and Caitlin say Megan’s tale of woe is nothing but a fabricated, manipulative sob story because she, and only she, is the one keeping her from her son, and they say they have the proof to back up every single one of their claims against Megan.

Dr. Phil continues his conversation with Megan, who claims her ex-boyfriend Andy has used the court system to make it impossible for her to be a mother to their 5-year-old son. She claims Andy and his new fiancé, Caitlin, have alienated her from her little boy. Andy and Caitlin, however, presented Dr. Phil with what they claimed was evidence supporting their allegation that it is only Megan's own lifestyle and choices keeping her out of her son’s life. Dr. Phil also introduces 24-year-old Kaymen, who says she can relate to this teen’s struggle, as she also went through a rebellious time when she was younger and grew out of that phase and learned to respect her parents.

Erica says her family is hostile and toxic. She says her mother, Desiree, and sister, Adrienne, are at one another’s throats, and the police have been called over 20 times. Erica says she is about to cut ties with her family if Dr. Phil can’t fix them.

Fred and Cynthia claim their daughter, Crystal, is raising their 12-year-old grandson in a death trap! They say there is no running water, and the ceiling leaks; there are exposed wires, smoking electrical sockets, mice, and mold! They say their daughter’s home is such a health hazard that it needs to be burned to the ground, and they claim they are finally ready to call CPS to protect their grandson. Crystal admits she hasn’t cleaned in two years, and her home has become a living embodiment of how she feels on the inside due to her extensive childhood trauma. Dr. Phil is joined by Dr. Charles Sophy, and they both agree Crystal’s son can never return to their nightmarish living conditions. You don’t want to miss it!

Samantha and her sister Sarah say their mother, Stacy, is very successful as a special education teacher and behaviorist, but when it comes to parenting their 33-year-old brother, Ben, that’s another story. They claim their mother has allowed Ben to live rent free for the past two years, while he lays by the pool doing nothing to contribute around the house. Stacy’s husband, Doug, says he moved out and refuses to come home until Stacy kicks his stepson out of the house. Stacy says everything she is doing for her son, including teaching him how to pay his bills and eat his veggies, is all part of getting Ben to stand on his own two feet. Ben insists he is not taking advantage of his mother’s hospitality and kindness; he is just stuck in a rut.

Heather, her daughter, Sheilagh, and her mother, Kristi, complain to Dr. Phil that her adult son, Ryan, has been arrested at least 10 times for causing constant shenanigans, including dancing in the middle of the street drunk and destroying property — and yet, until recently, Heather allowed him to continue to live in her own home and cause constant chaos! Ryan’s entire family have all brought video evidence to show Dr. Phil the horrifying and embarrassing behaviors that they claim they’ve had to live with for years! Beth wrote to Dr. Phil saying she fears for her stepdaughter, Teresa's, life because she has been using heroin for the past 10 years. Not only is Teresa using heroin every day, but she is 34 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. Teresa’s father, Barry, admits that he enables his daughter’s drug habit by continuously giving her money and paying her bills. Teresa’s mother, Karin, says if no one is going to step in to take care of Teresa’s baby, then she will fight for custody.

Last season, Dr. Phil viewers met Holly, who was in love and engaged to two foreign men she met online, one Brazilian, the other Turkish. She has since dumped the Brazilian and gone to Turkey where she officially became engaged to her Turkish love, Gunes. But her mother, Linda, says Holly hasn’t been the same since her return, describing Holly as fat, lazy and depressed. Linda says she blames it on one thing. Joni claims that Gina used to be one of her besties and that they were inseparable, from spending birthday trips out of town to girls’ nights out, often ending in Gina crashing at Joni’s house. Joni says all that changed when 23-year-old Gina began dating Joni’s 49-year-old father, David, behind her back and giving birth to David’s child. Joni says she feels betrayed by Gina and her father, even going as far as sharing her dislike for her former friend and father’s newfound romance on TikTok. Gina says the picture Joni paints of them being best friends is all a lie, but in any event, Joni needs to accept her relationship with Joni’s father. David says despite his daughter’s disapproval, he is going to continue being in a committed relationship with Gina, but that doesn’t mean he can’t also have a relationship with his daughter.

Cassey says she’s desperate for Dr. Phil’s help because she’s been married 10 times and none of the marriages have worked out. She claims several of her exes have said it wasn’t her fault the marriage failed; it was theirs! She says she’s married all different types, from a preacher to a rocker, to her high school sweetheart, but no matter what type of man she picks, she always ends up alone. She says she’s 56 years young, still looking for the perfect match, and ready for Dr. Phil to get real with her so she can find out what’s gone wrong.

Dr. Phil follows up with some of his favorite guests to see if they were able to turn their lives around after talking with him. Is it possible that an out-of-control teen got on the right path? Twenty-four-year-old JT and his 20-year-old brother, Jacob, say they’d like to move out of their mom, Alisa’s, home and have independent lives, but they feel bullied by their own mother into staying at home and taking care of her. The young men also say they feel afraid to leave their mom alone because they fear she won’t be able to take care of herself. Alisa claims she was once so close with JT and Jacob, they were like “The Three Musketeers,” but in the past two years, her sons have become “like the devil,” constantly smoking marijuana and disrespecting her. Dr. Phil works to get to the bottom of exactly what is going on in this dysfunctional household. Dr. Phil invites Dr. Hans Breiter to explain to JT and Jacob more about the severe risks of using marijuana, especially for young people with developing brains.

Derek and Nancy Haysom were found brutally murdered late one night in March 1985. It is a fascinating tale that landed a German diplomat’s son, Jens Soering, behind bars for their murder. Soering’s girlfriend at the time, the Haysom’s daughter, Elizabeth, was convicted of accessory to murder. Although Soering did confess to the murders, he recanted just before his 1990 trial. Soering has spent 33 years behind bars until just recently when the state of Virginia granted him parole and extradited him back to Germany. Dr. Phil gets Soering's first American interview. Plus, Dr. Phil hears from Rodney Reed.

As children, they say they were forced into a religious sect that sexually abused them and controlled their lives. Now, 30 years after an intense police raid shut down The Zion Society, some of its victims are together for the first time. In an exclusive interview, they share their stories of survival.

Brittany says she and her identical twin sister, Erica, at one time both battled a severe alcohol addiction. Brittany says she is now sober, but Erica has continued her addiction and is lucky to be alive after 30 hospitalizations and 14 comas, as a result of drinking alcohol, cleaning supplies, and even bug spray to feed her addiction. Their mother, Tani, has allowed Erica to live with her, but three weeks ago, she kicked her daughter out of her home, leaving Erica homeless and committed to a psychiatric ward of a hospital after she was found in a hotel room incoherent from drinking bottles of hand sanitizer. After spending over a week in the hospital, Erica was discharged and traveled to Los Angeles with two sober escorts to face her identical twin and her mother.

Dr. Phil visits two animal rescues in Austin, TX where his upcoming series, That Animal Rescue Show, which premieres on October 29, was filmed. Dr. Phil has linked up with Golden Globe winner and five-time Academy Award nominee Richard Linklater and the folks at CBS All Access to create this powerful docuseries which showcases how animals and humans learn to heal from each other. But first, meet 19-year-old Dy’mond who appears to have it all – she goes to college while being a successful social media influencer. Dy’mond’s father and manager, Danny, has guided Dy’mond’s career since she was 14, but now worries Dy’mond may be burned out and needs to unplug. Dr. Phil and Coach Mike Bayer discuss effective strategies for improving Dy’mond’s mental health. Then, Dr. Phil introduces Danny and Dy’mond to Jamie and David, the founders and owners of Safe in Austin, an animal rescue where handicapped animals meet young people with special needs. Dr. Phil offers an opportunity for Dy’mond to take a step back from her hectic life and spend time on their farm. Dr. Phil also visits Austin Farm Sanctuary and reunites Wanda, who was once homeless, with her three cows who she raised as her own “babies” but had to give away so they could have better lives. Finally, Dr. Phil talks about the importance of adopting rescue animals versus shopping for pets with Illinois Congressman Mike Quigley and Madeline Bernstein, President of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Los Angeles.

Masseuse Tarek claims he is the victim of false sexual allegations that have destroyed his life and career. Tarek says he used to be a massage therapist until his license was revoked after allegations of sexual misconduct from up to 18 women. He asks for Dr. Phil’s help to clear his name by taking a polygraph test. One of Tarek’s alleged victims, Julia, joins Dr. Phil and recounts her claims that Tarek inappropriately touched her while on his massage table. In the second part of this story, Dr. Phil continues his investigation into claims that masseuse Tarek allegedly sexually assaulted women during massages. Tarek maintains his innocence and denies the allegations. Dr. Phil welcomes four of the world’s leading human behavior experts to analyze Tarek’s body language to see if there are any clues that could help assess whether the allegations are true or false. Tiffany and Walker say their mother, Shari, hits the casino the moment her paycheck drops into her bank account. They say she’s nearly $90,000 in debt and currently has a balance of -$437.01 in her checking account. Eighteen-year-old McKinley says that five years ago, she decided that she never, ever wanted to see or speak to her father, Cory, again. She claims her father is a violent, dangerous, “psychopath,” who physically abused her and her mother throughout her childhood. But she says what pushed her over the edge was when she learned that in 2010, her dad went to jail for 150 days for two counts of sexual battery of a minor! Cory is adamant that he’s never abused anyone, ever! He says that he believes that his ex-wife brainwashed McKinley, using what he calls “bogus charges,” to make him out to be some sort of “abusive pedophile.” Can Dr. Phil mend this broken father/daughter relationship? Tensions run high in this conclusion to a father/daughter battle. After not speaking for five years, McKinley confronts her father, Cory, for allegedly being “abusive” throughout her childhood and for being a “pedophile,” claims he adamantly denies. Dr. Phil continues to question Cory about an incident that led to Cory’s arrest for sexual battery in 2010.

Tracy says her 30-year-old son, Logan, is in desperate need of help. She claims Logan has gone from a productive computer science engineer to a shell of a human being over the course of a year. Tracy says Logan has no motivation, rarely eats, and can barely function enough to take care of his basic hygiene needs – in fact, she claims he only showers once or twice a month and only if he knows he has company coming over! Tracy says even the simplest tasks, like making the bed or screwing a cap back on a bottle, have become extremely difficult for Logan. Tracy says she needs Dr. Phil to intervene to find out why her son’s motivation has disappeared and how he can get back on track.

Natalie says her husband, Brian, was in a tragic work accident in 2015 when he fell from a 68-foot crane. She says he was paralyzed from the knees down and claims he has stopped trying to live life. Natalie claims that since the accident, Brian has treated her and their 13-year old son, Jacob, like his slaves instead of his family. Natalie says her marriage with Brian has changed, and they don’t know how to communicate with one another. Brian says his family doesn’t understand what he is going through and that he is in too much pain to move. Brian also says Natalie’s parents, Sharyn and Dave, are too involved in his family’s lives, which is causing tension. Sharyn and Dave say they were trying to help their daughter since Natalie took on all of the responsibilities in her household.

Shelby wants to find the truth about her father, David’s, online relationship with a woman he has never met. David says he met a woman named “Maria” online, and she has an inheritance of $10 million. David says he knows for a fact that “Maria” is a real person and can’t wait to introduce her to his daughter one day. Shelby says her relationship with her dad is broken and wishes he would spend more time with her, rather than chasing a woman who she fears doesn’t exist.

David says he is in love with a Christian woman from Texas named “Maria,” who claims she has an inheritance of $10 million. David says even though they have never met, he has paid $25,000 over the last two-and-a-half years to their lawyer in order to get the inheritance money. Dr. Phil investigates “Maria” to find out if she is a real person or if David is part of an online catfish scam.

Dr. Phil meets Nino and his fiancée, Alexandria, who say they are 100% convinced Nino’s mom, Anna, is being scammed by her alleged online boyfriend, “Sammie Lee Strong.” Despite their efforts to intervene, Nino says Anna is ignoring all the red flags and has sent “Sammie” over $120,000. Anna says she loves “Sammie,” but Nino has put so much doubt into her head, she doesn’t know who to believe. But where is “Sammie”? And, how can Dr. Phil help Anna? Dr. Christopher Duntsch has been nicknamed “Dr. Death” and is the first known surgeon sentenced to life in prison due to gross malpractice. From 2011 – 2013, Dr. Duntsch reportedly maimed 33 patients and killed two while working at hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. In 2015, Duntsch was indicted on five counts of aggravated assault and one count of harming an elderly person, and in 2017, he was sentenced to life in prison. In 2021, two additional patients passed away due to complications from his surgeries – including Duntsch’s childhood friend Jerry Summers. Dr. Phil speaks with individuals directly impacted by Dr. Duntsch, including a surviving victim, medical professionals, and a woman who once viewed Dr. Duntsch as her “second son.” Dr. Phil is also joined by former FBI criminal profiler Candice DeLong to discuss Duntsch’s personal characteristics, and Dr. Terry Dubrow, who advises viewers on red flags to watch out for so something so horrific can never happen again.

Mia and Kiki say their 30-year-old brother, Forrest, lives in their deceased grandma’s house in a room they call “the cave.” They say he lives in filth, won’t leave the house, is jobless and won’t pay his bills.
