Obesity is an epidemic that's out of control. When Dr Christian first met 56-year-old Patience in 2012 she was super-morbidly obese, with a basketball-sized abdominal hernia and a two-stone growth on her leg. However, weighing a massive 36 stones, any surgery would have put her life at risk. Patience needed major intervention but, as for the 1000 people who die each week from obesity-related conditions, had it come too late for her?
