Nail expert Katie Cazorla and her best friend Amy narrowly escape death on the way to Sundance where Katie is hosting a gifting suite for celebrities. Once at the festival, Katie's publicist fails her at every turn. Back in Los Angeles, Katie's assistant in Los Angeles drops a bomb, leaving Katie crying in a restaurant parking lot. Katie tests out her rhyming skills with rapper Too $hort.
Katie's fiancé Walter gets nominated for a Grammy so Katie must find a red carpet dress that will make her stand out in a sea of A-list celebrities! Then after her assistant quits, Katie must bring in a professional organizer to help deal with the mess she left behind.
Katie throws Walter an authentic Russian party to celebrate his 53rd birthday but gets bruised up when planning the ultimate surprise. At the salon, Katie awakens her inner gymnast when actress Candace Cameron Bure ("Make it or Break It") visits the salon. Plus, tensions boil when one of the technicians is accused of stealing tips.
Paparazzi surround the salon when "Jersey Shore's" Snooki, JWoww, Sammi and Deena arrive to get manis, pedis and a drink at the bar.
Katie's invited to host a gifting suite for the Oscars but when no one shows up, Katie is forced to make a tough career decision. Then, the salon is thrown into chaos when Nichole takes on too many responsibilities threatening the success of The Painted Nail. Plus actor Dean McDermott drops by and leaves with a sweet surprise for his wife Tori Spelling.
Short-staffed, Katie is forced to take on decorating duties for parties attended by pregnant Nicole Eggert and actress Vanessa Williams all while interviewing "unpolished" hopefuls.
In the first-season finale, Katie's Spring/Summer nail polish line is finally complete after actress Vanessa Hudgens agrees to name the last polish color but the stress of planning her celebrity-filled launch party makes Katie question the future of The Painted Nail.
