So there will be a season three i guess. Geillis got what she deserved for killing her first husband. Burn her!
I detest Prince Charles with all my soul
Great. Now I have to go read the books. I NEED to know what happens next.
Alright, I loved this episode but it actually felt a tiny bit rushed... though that may have been just because I didn't want it to end. I found myself going through all sorts of time logic, flashing back to Season 1 where Frank (probably) saw Jamie's shadowy figure, and thinking about how I could totally do a season with Catriona Balfe and that silvery 60s hairstyle.
So many questions and so many reasons to rewatch this and the first season. Everyone might not be watching this show, but those who are, are witnessing something special. Hope Ronald D. Moore keeps this show on as long as he wants it to be (unlike his other show).
No, Claire, don’t go back:sob:
What a beast of an episode! It seems to me that it might have worked better had it been divided into two episodes, one about Claire and Jaimie and another one about Brianna in 1968, it would have been clearer.
- the new character Roger is very amiable and likeable, though Brianna is a bit disappointing. I saw the actress in the webseries "Ren. A Girl with a Mark" and it seems to me that she acted better in the fantasy short than here in "Outlander." I was curious about her role here since from what I know the showrunners of "Outlander" spotted her in "Ren".
- it was terrible of Jaime and Claire to kill Dougal, they looked like Macbeth and lady Macbeth at the moment ;)
- Geilis cruelly murdering her husband - who genuinely loved her and missed her after she abandoned him - was horrifying, she seems to be a heartless person fixated only on her idea of what Scottish history should have been, similarly to how we see her depicted in the first season. Human life means nothing to her, it seems including her own life.
- Jamie and Claire's goodbye did not move me very much, it was a bit prolonged. But maybe it was because I believe that Claire should have returned to Frank much ealier, she belongs with him as he was her first husband who truly loved her and cared about her, so it was unfair of Claire to stay with Jamie providing it was possible to return earlier. So by going back to her time, she was only putting things right like she should have done.
- Claire's decision to go back to Jamie seems selfish, it is true Brianna is now an adult so Claire does not have to stay for her, but on the other hand, since 20 years have passed, Jamie might be already dead even if he had survived Culloden, or he may have a new, different life in which there is no place for Claire anymore, and she would be disrupting both her daughter's and Jamie's lives if she chooses to go back.
fuck i'm not crying or anything
I say this too often, but... this was one of the best episodes in the first 2 seasons. The story is very different from the books, but it's extremely well told. It's a pitty they removed the scene with Claire, Roger and the ring, though. It was one of my favourites from the books (by the way, book 3, not the 2nd, if I recall correctly...).
I'm not giving it a full 10 because somehow, they managed to include some of the dumbest dialog lines in the whole show. "I believe you. I don't understand it, but... [long dramatic pause] I believe you". Believe!? You just saw it happen, with your very own eyes! That's not believing, you dumb tw...sorry, I got carried away . But yeah, that was a pretty dumb line, in one of the most important moments. On the other hand, it took them 2 complete seasons to make their first mistake with the writing, so...
I cried the whole damn episode.
I found this disappointing! Why does Claire look like she has barely aged? Why does her daughter not even begin to question her parentage? There's so many issues with this episode I can't even name them. Very disappointed because the rest of the series was great only to be ruined by this episode. I'll keep watching in the hope that next season is better.
