Alexis needs a wide awakening this season. her actions were cringe-worthily this episode
I love this show. Like, it's stupid dumb, but I find it hilarious.
It's kinda like the grown-up version of The Detour.
Alexis and David are the best. I love their relationship drama.
The first time in my life I saw an Amish being aggressive

[6.7/10] Eh, a middling start to the new season. The mystery of David’s disappearance at the end of the last episode is just...him hanging out with some Amish people for a few days? Pretty underwhelming, and doesn’t really feel like the show dealing with the loneliness and frustration he expressed in the season 1 finale. There’s some good humor in the Amish being ready to be rid of him (especially the Amish matriarch), and he and Stevie still have a funny and entertaining dynamic, even when they’re at odds, but it’s a disappointing payoff to what was set up before.
I did enjoy the humor of Johnny being the only one in the family who is squarely focused on getting David back. Moira being more worried about her brown alligator bag and Alexis being too focused on her love triangle situation makes for some fun shtick. The fact that they find David and immediately start talking about bags/boyfriends is a laugh. Moira and the bag in particular leads to some good gags (especially the story about Diane Sawyer meant to scare Alexis off from stealing it).
But Alexis and her storyline continues to be the worst. Why are they dragging this dumb thing out? I guess she at least has the decency not to sleep with Mutt before she’s firmly broken things off with Ted. But her inability to do that, her continued strategically ignoring him and evading his legitimate questions and playing up her brother’s disappearance as a reason not to deal with their issues borders on emotional abuse. She is selfish to a cartoonish degree and it makes the character both unlikable and unfunny when they’re doing the love triangle material.
Otherwise, Roland continues to be a near equally annoying character, whose only saving grace is that Johnny’s disbelief at his inanity is worth some comic mileage.
Overall, this feels like more of a piece-moving episode meant to just reset the status quo rather than anything that really moves the ball or earns a lot of laughs, but hopefully with the throat-clearing out of the way, the show can get back to business.
