Well, it's not like they're gonna be like, "Oh, you don't have your high school diploma. You can't come to our college."
[7.3/10] Another solid episode, with a little improvement in the laughs department from the last one. I liked each of the stories here, but each definitely falls into the “mild fun” or “mild sweetness” category, which is fine!
My favorite of them is Moira organizing Twyla’s murder mystery party. It’s fun to see Moira not only in her element and highly competent, but also helping someone else. Using her party planning skills to help Twyla get a full house is a fun excuse to see Moira both deploying her powers of persuasion and helping a noble cause. Her conversations with Jocelyn and David, flattering them as “snowballs” and tastemakers and low-key guilting them into going were tons of fun. And I adore the tag, where Moira doesn’t even attend the party herself, reasoning that her job is done, and that if she’s the murderer “they’ll never catch me.” It’s peak Moira, and the best thing here.
But I also like the Johnny/Stevie golf course subplot. To be honest, most of it’s not great. The interludes with Roland trying to teach Johnny how to improve his stance are bottom barrel comedy, and there’s not a lot of laughs to Johnny’s faltering attempts to hint at wanting to play a round. But what boosts this one for me is the fact that Stevie recognizes what Johnny is doing and cuts through his B.S. She gets that he needs this (or at least wants it), and is happy to be direct about it rather than doing Johnny’s awkward dance. Between that act of kindness and her, shall we say, less than enthusiastic response to being on the golf course, it’s a great and funny outing for Stevie, who’s my favorite character on the show.
Last but not least, I enjoyed the story about Alexis potentially going to Elmdale College and instead confronting the fact that she never graduated high school. I’m definitely on Team “Alexis Self-Growth” over Team “Alexis Romantic Life” so positioning her with an educational goal like this is one I like. Plus, the tag with her parents freaking out over the fact that she never graduated and her being upset that they carried some other girl’s picture in their wallets for years is a hoot.
Overall, this one is a little gentler than some other episodes, but has a real strong Moira story that carries the day.

deeply disappointing that they didn't show any of the murder mystery party?
