I love pretty much all of the Doctor centered episodes.

Tuvok: "It is also possible that the safety programs are malfunctioning."
Also Tuvok: "Since the safety programs are malfunctioning, […]"
Normally logical, Tuvok has gone from speculation to fact with no evidence whatsoever. A slip on the writers' part, no doubt.

What exactly happened to Unferth's wrist? That whole beat was hokey as all hell.

The more things I rate, the more frustrated I get at having only 10 different ratings to use. The previous episode of Voyager was a 7, rounded down. This one is a 7 too, but was rounded up instead. Sigh…

It's one of these too often too weird and ridiculous holo suite episodes (it becomes all worse when Paris designs one of his childish holo novels). This story is no exception. Enter the good Doctor aka Dr. Schweitzer aka Lord Schweitzer. He's really the only person in season 1 (maybe Kes too), that I really care for. He develops (that is he remembers what happened in previous episodes), he's funny, credible, memorable, witty, intelligent and he saves this otherwise very silly episode (with a lot of logic and physics issues).

A good episode only because it is focused mostly on The Doctor who is an endearing character. The cheeseball acting in the holodeck was cringy.

Such a shame the first episode featuring the Doctor had to be such a lousy one.

Not that we hadn't already have multiple versions of the holodeck-gone-wrong szenario. But this feels like the play of a weekend theatre. I really don't have much to say about this. If the one thing that stayed with me at the credits was Janeway's new hairdo you may get a picture. It showed though, that there was potential for the Doctor to do something outside of the sickbay.

Oh, one other thing. I'm glad they lost the name even if it took them a whole episode to realize it doesn't work. I remember barely containing my laughter when I watched this the first time and every time the name was than used.

"Schweizer - a hero's name"

Seriously ??

This is by far my favorite Episode of the first season. I love this cheesy stuff and Robert Picardo is amazing in this one.
The only reason this is not a ten is because of the guy saying he'll make sure the "Talisman" won't get to the town before taking it there himself for no apparent reason.
