The Peripheral: Season 1

1x04 Jackpot

01x04 - Jackpot: 7.2/10 (Good, It Gets the Job Done)

We’re halfway into the season, and the show’s pacing has started to drag a little; the fourth episode, “Jackpot”, is a slow burn. The episode’s big reveal at the end does a few things:

  • Answers some of our burning questions.
  • Ups the stakes.
  • Adds to the already lengthy list of mysteries that remain unanswered.

Moreover, “Jackpot” also gives us insight into who might be the villains. A gradual build-up isn’t always a bad thing; if the ending is any indication, things are progressing nicely here. Great work so far; I hope they can maintain this level of quality. As usual, I look forward to the next episode.

It is beautiful how they represent the catastrophes that bring humanity to the brink of extinction.

Are we out of ideas already?

I liked this episode a lot. Sure it wasn’t action packed as some of the previous ones. At least we get some answers here. I love how they explained the past/future. I felt the other dialogue was necessary too. Very informative and I’m excited for the rest of this show.

come on, let's start unraveling this show

8.5/10 - Now we know what happened between the two timelines. The concept of the jackpot/apocalypse seems frighteningly realistic (in the sense that it'd be possible).

Lev Zubov's character went from suspicious to alarming. I like the way he acts but I got a bad feeling about his agenda...

Flynne's medical issues are quite unsettling!

So there are three factions in the future: The Klept oligarchy, the Met Police, and the RI (research institute)?

I could like the show more without T'Nia Miller and more action/less talk.... but then, I'm aware how the creators like their scripts written.
