In episode 1, “Road to the Rematch,” the coaches select their teams of combatants to determine the next Ultimate Fighter. Light heavyweight winner of the inaugural The Ultimate Fighter, Forrest Griffin, welcomes the fighters, and no time is wasted as two heavyweights are picked for the first fight of the season.
Team Peña’s first pick, Helen Peralta, faces Team Nunes’ Kaytlin Neil, for the season’s first flyweight matchup.
In a highly anticipated heavyweight matchup, Mohammed Usman, brother of UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, faces Mitchell Sipe, who is looking to make a name for himself as well. A previously canceled bout with Usman left Sipe with a bitter taste in his mouth and he refuses to be intimidated by the Usman family legacy.
Anxiety levels are running high as both Team Peña’s, Chantel Coates, and Team Nunes’, Brogan Walker, suffer serious setbacks ahead of their flyweight fight. Both teams have exhausted all options to meet the requirements for the fight, to avoid major consequences.
TUF Season 2 alumni, Bobby Maximus returns to the cage after 13 years away, to face Team Nunes #1 pick, Eduardo Perez, in a heavyweight fight. With a large age and experience gap, a victory may be up for grabs. A conflict takes shape at the fighters’ house leading up to the fight and threatens the unity of Team Peña.
Flyweights Claire Guthrie and Juliana Miller are poised to fight once again, as their previous fight ended with more questions than answers. Both fighters are determined to leave no doubt the second time around.
It’s time for the final quarterfinal matchup in the heavyweight competition, as Cole looks to push through the pain and advance to the next round when he takes on Jordan Heiderman of Team Pena.
Still recovering from a knee injury, flyweight Brogan Walker must now enter the Octagon against Hannah Guy to determine who advances to the semifinals. Dana White decides the matchups for the upcoming semifinal fights.
Heavyweights Jordan Heiderman and Zac Pauga face each other in the first semifinal fight of the season. Also, with their respective teams present to cheer them on, Amanda and Julianna face off in an axe-throwing competition for the coach’s challenge.
Flyweights Laura Gallardo and Brogan Walker face each other to determine who will advance to the TUF live finale. Gallardo’s quick feet and grappling skills are pitted against Walker’s powerful strikes and experience.
Heavyweights Mohammed Usman and Eduardo Perez clash to decide who advances to the live TUF finale against Zac Pauga. Usman’s brother, UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, pays a visit to the TUF house.
Flyweights Juliana Miller and Kaytlin Neil fight to decide who will face Brogan Walker in the live finale. Coaches Julianna Peña and Amanda Nunes take their respective teams out for a night on the town to celebrate the conclusion of the competition.
