Starts off amazing for first 5 eps. When Ali died, the show lost its way a little. I’m also not sure point of the body organ subplot. Didn’t really lead to anything.
I’d also have rearranged the final scenes: have G sad and despondent, but also let him do charity stuff for Sang Woo’s mum etc. THEN let him not touch his own money for a year, as that still conveys his guilt and hopelessness. It still works. Otherwise, Seems bit weird and pathetic in order we got it in on the show. I get he was sad that his mom died, but bumming around for a year after seems quite a leap.
Lastly, did they really fly in the VIPS just to watch two games? A cool bridge one, and then what’s basically a cheap playground game of hopscotch? I think they should have come in earlier on the show.
This was such an "aca-disappointment"!
If you came back for the laughs, the sassy characters, the anti-stereotypes and the music, be prepared to be completely disappointed.
The plot is a mess: you'd think it will actually have anything to do with Pitch Perfect 1 and 2, but it doesn't. Sure, it could be because the Bellas are now graduated working women going near their 30s, but this isn't the reason. The reason is that this movie has very little to do with singing in general, songs (which are now full covers and not cleverly mixed songs) being just a sad garnishment for a plot that doesn't know where the focus should be. Oh, you think the main thing about the movie is a-capella vs instruments? Nope, it isn't. Oh, wait, could it be that this movie is about the Bellas moving on from their a-capella group? Well, it could have been, if only the entire plot wasn't taken over by Fat Amy's evil dad!
Pitch Perfect 3 is full of moments that show the movie is clearly set in an alternate reality where everyone hates a-capella groups (or at least the Bellas), as they are considered worse than a full-instruments band by default. Also what is the point of introducing like three bands that should compete against each other for DJ Khaled's attention (he is considered a good musician in this alt. universe, I know right?!) if you are not gonna show them actually COMPETING?
I'm not trying to say that the whole Fat Amy revealing herself to be the tough daughter of an evil mastermind wasn't funny! It was, and so was that sort of Taken parody fight between Fat Amy and his dad's goons on the yacht, but it felt too much like I was being sidetracked by the main focus (or at least what have should have been) of the movie: the competition!
Oh, and soooo many wtf moments and weird dialogues...
A franchise ruined forever and totally not worth watching!
Don’t trust the good reviews. 80% of this show is the equivalent of watching paint dry. You. Will. Feel. Every. Minute. That. Passes. Unnecessarily long and boring.
I think everyone can learn a thing or two from this show...the writing is kinda corny but most of the episodes have me, a twenty one year old, tearing up a bit from the content
[8.5/10] “It’s a long long road, but I’m gonna get there.” Those are the word that Sesame Street taught us years and years ago, instilling the idea that just because something doesn’t happen right now, doesn’t mean that it’s never going to happen. It’s hard to feel like you’ve made tons of progress, and yet aren’t where you want to be, but to some degree that’s just life, where for most of us, for most of the things we truly want, it’s a long road.
Apparently it’s true in the afterlife too. That’s the main idea of “The Burrito” where our heroes make it to The Judge, who gives each member of the show’s foursome a test to see whether they’ve made enough progress to make it to The Good Place, and finds that each has improved, but hasn’t quite gotten to where they need to be.
They all fail, but they each sort of succeed, or at least do better than they would before they got here. Tahani bipasses all the doors with celebrity acquaintances talking about what they truly think of her, but just can’t walk past the door with her parents. Still, she makes peace with the fact that their standards were impossibly high, and that even if they always favored her sister to a cartoonish extent, she’s lived a good life, and a good afterlife, where she’s broken out as a person and found all sorts of new personal heights when she didn’t feel the need to strive for their approval. It’s not enough to get her into Heaven, but it’s an improvement.
Jason is able to play against his beloved Jacksonville Jaguars in Madden, even finding the inner strength to play as their bitter(?) rivals the Tennessee Titans despite his hesitancy to ever take a stand, even a virtual one, against his favorite team, something he never could have done before. But as The Judge points out, he still didn’t totally master his impulse control (which I didn’t realize until this episode was his hamartia), just jumping into playing the game without even stopping her. And while Chidi did finally choose between two mostly-identical hats, showing a decisiveness that is a step up for him, it also took him 82 minutes to do it.
So what we have is improvement without mastery. I’ll admit, it’s hard to know why indecisiveness or striving for parental approval or even plum stupidity (albeit manifested through poor impulse control) justifies you being tortured for the rest of eternity, but each little thought experiment, illustrated in real life, is a great way to indicate how far our heroes have come and how far they have to go.
Everyone except Eleanor. Eleanor, whose fatal flaw is selfishness, is given the (seeming) opportunity to go The Good Place despite the fact that her friends won’t. She chooses not to, and yet it’s not because she’s mastered her selfishness. It’s because, like she did in Michael’s incarnation of The Bad Place, she’s figured out the con. She doesn’t selflessly turn down the opportunity, she just recognizes that the Judge’s simulcra of Chidi doesn’t line up with the genuine article and calls The Judge’s bluff. It’s odd because it’s not really proof of advancement for Eleanor. It’s closer to a con artist recognizing that she’s being conned.
But then she does something truly selfless, which is not only give up her chance at getting to The Good Place individually, but hide the fact that she passed from her friends so as not to make them feel bad (though theoretically, it could be that she doesn’t want them to hate her). Eleanor passes the test through simple means, but proves her growth through more genuinely selfless ones.
All the while, The Good Place keeps us entertained with what’s going on elsewhere. Maya Rudolph as The Judge is a revelation. The way she’s a little bored with her job, a little amused by the foursome pleading for her mercy, and just generally finds them adorable is a superb take for a higher being. There’s something so quotidian about how she wields her enormous power, and Rudolph finds the fun in it every time.
In the same way, the adventure of Michael facing the music in The Bad Place has enough humor and suspense to keep things humming. The reveal that Janet prime got good enough to pass as a Bad Janet was a genuinely surprising one, and their last minute appearance in the courtroom sets up all kinds of intrigue for the show’s season finale.
What’s so exciting about the prospect of the finale, and about the show as a whole, is that it’s not clear where they’re going with all of this. The show seems to have a trajectory of Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, and Jason each getting better, but the places that quest for self-improvement takes them has been unpredictable so far, all full of twists, reboots, and friendships that grow in unexpected ways. Where that path goes from here is uncertain, but what’s sure and exciting is that our heroes have made it a long way, but still have a long way to go.

last 2 eps completely ruined the show; too many things left unexplained or given corny ass reasons; last episode REALLY horrendous; tried to make us sympathize with psychos; mid ass ending; hella plot holes and pretty predictable (was able to guess that front man was cop brother cus like who else would it be + old man was behind it all due to the fact that he was #1 like srsly) . really peaked in the "game" part of the show. why fly the vips in so late too? why have the organ plot? and in the marble game, why did ali lose since one of the rules were they HAD to play a marble game, yet lost despite not playing any? i get theres very few rules but one of the rules was they HAD to play a marble game but idk. they should have both died at least as a compromise lole. and final fight was so predictable with the anime-ass rain + ground stab near head instead of the finishing blow and suicide lmaooo.
game-part alone nice 7.5. kinda stupid fun to watch and shit.

This show is so fucking dumb but I can't stop watching it because I'm in love with Rita Volk.
I'm not one to dwell too much on remake changes and such but hot damn did this lack something over the original anime. D-point in the original was just pure angst. They died one by one in protection of Usagi and it was heartbreaking for her to experience. Where was this element?
This time round the 4 generals got taken out and they stood around and wept about it or some crap? Then each supplied their 'lives' to give energy to Usagi. IDK. I know this is more true to the manga but it just wasn't as badass.
Everything was just so focussed on the girls and their past 'loves' then Usagi getting strength from Mamoru's presence. I just feel like despite the strong words of the intro song - of them not needing men to protect them - somehow this hasn't been fed through to the writing itself :/
ELEMENTARY - SEASON 3 - Is Kitty Here to Stay?
I am somehow baffled by the recent addition of Ophelia Lovibond as Katheryn "Kitty" Winter: Sherlock's newest protégée whom he brought with him from London after leaving MI6 in Season 3.
For some reason I dislike her and feel that she did not add anything to the show, on the contrary she took away one of the key elements which I used to enjoy which is Holmes and Watson's partnership in everything.
In spite the fact that the character comes with a heartfelt background that makes you feel for her being a victim of a vilont crime and all.
But, I failed miserably to like her, striking me most of the time as emotionless, cocky and abtuse.
I am afraid her presence might put me off the entire show especially with the fact that Liu's presence is somehow less this season..
Anyhow that is my take on Season 3, Let's just wait and see..
