One of the most shamelessly manipulative piece of propaganda that I've seen in a long time.
The characters are one dimensional and the villains so cartoon-y. Don King? C'mon... The accidental pedophile that was going to kill himself but saw the light after a message from god? LOL.
When the third act started, I thought it was going to turn into Rambo III. It was more like First Blood.
People are being overly emotional because of the subject matter. The movie itself is just not worth the hysteria.
The epilogue should be updated to add that Tim Ballard is a pervert
I could gush about this for a long time but I'll keep it short -- it's fantastic. This is going to be a word of mouth hit because there's no one who leaves it who won't want to get other people to see it.
This movie starts off emotional and ends emotional and the ride in between is epic! Luckily I'm in the Netherlands so I could see it before and no actions here. This movie should be watched by all people no matter the color of their skin. Wakanda forever!
I watched this movie against my better judgement, with a rice grain of hope, and in a state of suspicious dread considering the norm for mainstream made queer films. I regret the near two hours of anxiety, ambivalence and anguish. In plainspeak - Fuck this heartbreaking shit.
Now I'm going to watch some mindless series and try to purge away the well of sorrow that burrowed itself into me.
Please consider this review a mental health warning if you're also prone to depression, this one stings.
Lovely holiday kind of entertainer with a strong story.Even if there's nothing unpredictable or extraordinary, still something feels new and different from the other typical christmas movies.
This was such a thrill to watch!
It didn't feel like your average Christmas movie. I genuinely enjoyed every minute of it, the plot and pacing was well done.
Kristen's charmingly awkward role played very nicely into it. Her and Mackenzie made an adorable couple - I didn't expect their chemistry to be this good throughout the movie. The rest of the cast was great too; many familiar faces, everyone really nailed their role.
Recommended! It's definitely going down as a holiday classic in my book.
Sophia Loren is great as always, but it’s the young chap playing Momo who is the real revelation here. He displays genuine emotion in his role and carries the film through the occasional lull.
I find it hard for me to pinpoint the genre of this movie, and that's great. The town (Bacurau) is the best actor/actress presented here, which means all the good acting gave personality to this wonderful place. You'll see a lot of social and political criticism here and it's perfectly done.
Unfortunately, nothing more can be said about this flick without giving away some spoilers, but rest assured, it is one of the best movies Brazil has made in a long time.
10/10
Just one thing to say: " Do Caralho!!! "
This is just the right amount of weird with a good amount of humor. Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone all give fantastic performances. It's hard to say which one was the best because they all play so well off each other. Nicholas Hoult does a pretty good job too. The cinematography was great. I love the wide angle shots and the way the camera moves is wonderful. The score, the sets, the costumes are all top notch. This is definitely Yorgos Lanthimos's best movie so far and I think he is one of the more interesting directors working today. It's even better after a rewatch.
I don't even know where to start on this movie. The cinematography, the plot, the costumes, the soundtrack and the acting are all the best I've seen in a LONG time. This is one of the greatest movies I have ever watched. I could elaborate, but it would take up all day. And as a young, gay woman, thank you for making a lesbian couple that wasn't just for the male gaze, where one didn't die off and where the story wasn't just about them coming out / discrimination. Yes to more movies of people who just happen to be gay and that's not the point of the story! Cheers!
Unlike the movie verse DC animated universe keeps satisfying the thirst of live action comic movies with great story and action through all the movies
The quality of Dc animated movies always amazes me.As the name says,it's too dark and have a lot of heartbreaking moments for the fans.
One of the best animated movie, not for the fainted heart. justice league DARK indeed ...
HAROLD, THEY'RE LESBIANS!
so im just supposed to go on with my life after this?????????
"Not everything is fleeting."
Indescribably beautiful in every way. Sciamma knows exactly when to linger and exactly when to let go. This is a film that is in complete control. It doesn’t just depict the longing, the love, the heartbreak; it gives the audience permission to experience these feelings with the film. It allows us into these moments in such delicate and masterful ways, that we are swept up into the romance along with Marianne and Héloïse.
Its interesting how many shots in this movie could exist in the latest artsy horror film released by A24. But in the context of this film, they don’t horrify the audience; they haunt us. They haunt us both despite and because of their beauty. They haunt us in the same way as Orpheus’ last goodbye to Eurydice.
"Turn around."
this movie is amazing. the cast works so well together and it actually feels real. the other netflix romcoms could never.
paul is so cute. he's a great friend and his relationship with ellie was so fun to watch as it developed. the scene with paul and ellie's dad where the dad's speaking chinese to him was wonderful too. i don't know why it hit me but it did.
the scene where they're in the water was beautiful. this movie is gonna get quoted for years to come, i'm calling it
even though i did ship astra and ellie, the ending was satisfying and actually really cute.
thanks netflix for giving us a cute lesbian (kinda) movie. please continue to make movies like these instead of movies like the kissing booth. sorry not sorry
Wow, just wow! Brie Larson is fantastic!
An extraordinarily story, and it will give you chills.
The thing that i loved that the story-line was from the child's eyes.
One of 2015 best movies.
At the end of it all, this is a really sweet film. It became more than a rom com and showed us all the forms of love. And that's damn beautiful.
chaotic and violent in the absolute best way!! we already knew margot was going to be great, this movie just proves even more that she was born to play harley. rosie, mary, chris, ewan, and ella were perfectly cast. JURNEE FUCKING SMOLLETT-BELL YOU GUYS!!!! SHE IS INCREDIBLE AS BLACK CANARY I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!! I NEED A SEQUEL OR SOLO MOVIE NOW!!
everyone that says this movie is bad, is boring and doesnt know how to have fun because i had A BLAST
also, those fight scenes were INCREDIBLE
just give elsa a girlfriend already
Great to see Linda Hamilton again. Mackenzie Davis is a smokin hot badass. Arnie is Arnie, always fun to see. That said this was a stinker. Third best sure....but a stinker.
This was surprisingly great. A ton of fun and style. It's shot well and has great music. Jenifer Lopez really is fantastic. Constance Wu is good too.
Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
BRIE LARSON, I love you, thank you for give what the fanboys hate: a strong female character.
this movie made me a lesbian
