It's funny to see bad reviews for this movie, and a lot of criticism towards JJ, but it's clear that all the choices made in this movie was to correct the choices made in The Last Jedi, the movie that was hated by all the fans till yesterday, but now people are praising.
The Rise of Skywalker is a great movie, specially for fans, it's a great way to end this saga, filled with fan service. I don't think I can say more than that without spoiling the experience for everyone.
All the critcs you see here, or on twitter, are coming from people who thinks star wars, a space opera, should be a deep and complex movie with fanfics about romances.
Astonishing performance. It’s a really good movie and worth watching if you are both a fan and a movie lover.
Everyone in their comments seems to have missed the origins of this movie. This is the Space Version of the Magnificent Seven, which of course is the recreation of the Japanese classic Seven Samurai.
Robert Vaughn gets the award for playing a role in two movies that recreate the Japanese Classic film playing the exact same character in both. Roger Corman's production brought many big names to this rendition including George Peppard, Richard Thomas, Robert Vaughn, John Saxon, Jeff Corey and Sybil Danning. Almost every space ship somehow was a recreation of some sort of animal: Moose, Hammerhead Shark, Frog, Large-Mouth Bass, Dragonfly, Flea, Tick, Manta and Octopus. Even the Nestor's ship resembles a jellyfish without the hanging tentacles. The Valkyrie plays the part of Chico (Horst Buchholz). If you have about 5 hours to kill, watch The Magnificent Seven and this movie back-to-back and you'll easily see the comparisons.
How about this find any Star Wars movie and complain about it. Then when you are done watch this. It's a great space film that shows what Star Wars would be with a low budget. But let's take a moment and realize this has more bounty hunters than Star Wars.

We're all just carving out what slices of artistry we can in a system that cares about profit, and hopefully one day we'll all get our day in the sun.
I wish we didn't have to wait so long between videos, but Defunctland keeps hitting it out of the park! Not only does he present this really obscure topic as important and relevant, he also presents it in an extremely engaging way. It's paced perfectly, revealing information as if it were a murder mystery, and the reveal at the end is so satisfying and earned.
He jokes about wanting to be recognized as a documentarian instead of a YouTuber, but in my eyes, he's the former. His channel is full of interesting documentaries, some which are feature length. He deserves the title.
I’m sure all horror fans have seen the American version; The Ring. However, despite how similar in storyline, they are also quite different.
I expected this to be far scarier, but for me it wasn’t.
Considering when it was made, it’s a high budget film with a great cast.
It’s slower than the American version, which didn’t bother me at all.
I enjoyed it, but I can’t really say which version I prefer as they both have their own merits.
This version is more authentic I suppose and well told without the use of a lot of background music to build suspense, unnecessary jump scares or special effects. It’s in a way more basic, as in a well told story.
I like both versions, I honestly don’t have a preference.
Looking forward to watching the others in the series.
Really very astonishingly good horror. More subtle than the American version. I like both pretty equally.
Incredibly powerful and disturbing in so many aspects, the seance was one of the best ever seen.
Just got back from the new Jumanji movie, and I had a lot of fun. All of the characters were great and they had fantastic chemistry together. I loved the Rock and Kevin Hart (back from Central Intelligence), but Jack Black really stood out with the funniest and most eccentric performance by far. The setup for the movie was solid (albeit a bit simple), and it served its purpose in giving us funny scenarios for the characters. This is definitely a fun movie to watch and just enjoy for some laughs and action especially if you haven't seen the trailer (the trailer spoils a few of the funny scenes). 7/10.
"A strong man who has known power all his life may lose respect for that power. But a weak man knows the value of strength."
81 | Arthur Fleck might be the most pathetic character who has ever been written. Every life decision he makes is terrible and he blames his own fault on society. Life is a hard place to live, but it is up to us to become stronger and mature about it or just whining and depressed. Aside from that, Joker is visually beautiful and has better Gotham than The Dark Knight. We could see how damaged and corrupt this city is. A place like Gotham would be a great place to born anarchists. Joker also portrayed how disconnected the rich and the poor are. That is the main problem that made the system in Gotham is broke from in or out. Some people probably have a different perspective about Arthur Fleck. But the fact is he is a terrible person who was born in a terrible city, that's why Gotham is a beautiful place for him to be.

What an experience! It was magnificent and really powerful. Brilliant lead actor.
The greatest film ever made ? Depends what you are looking for in a film but for sheer entertainment value there are few films that can match it. This is the film that turns Star Wars into a saga. Not content with simply rehashing the original, here we get a greater scope as new worlds and characters are introduced, but more importantly the returning characters are all developed logically. Crucially, the chief villain becomes something much more significant and the final confrontation has lost none of its power regardless of the prequels. It is a rare sequel that can take practically everything introduced in the original and improve on it in every way, especially when the original is already so highly regarded.
