Silent Night

Imagine dying and not having anything better to drink than Coca-Cola.

Men getting what they deserve, and a happy ending for the lesbians? Couldn't ask for more.

Persuasion

Felt more like a film about some people role-playing Austen, than an actual Austen adaptation.
Too much time spent on trying to make Anne into someone she's not (mixing modern language with history worked for Dickinson, it did not work here).
Not enough time spent on the love story, which felt more like an afterthought in the end.
At least it's pretty.

Pride & Prejudice

Oh, to watch the love of your life walk towards you across a field of grass, while the sun is rising and the birds are singing. Knowing how much they love you, and finally being able to tell them that you love them too.

Seaspiracy

I am so tired of documentaries with narrators pretending to be ignorant in order for the mainstream audience to have someone to relate to. This isn't a documentary about the fishing industry, it's a documentary about a man's journey learning about the fishing industry.

The Handmaiden

I love everything about this movie, except for the sex scenes. They were so obviously made for men and what they think sex between two women is like that it ruins what could have been a great movie.

In the Fire

The visuals, the sets, and the costumes are all so beautiful. Can't wait to watch this film again once it comes out in theatres.

No matter how many times I watch this movie, the bomb scene always makes me scream.

Last Night in Soho

They really showed her not to romanticise the 60s.

Show Me Love

Knowing how older queer movies usually go I didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised, especially with the happy ending. If only I had known about this movie when I was a kid.

Emma.

I really want to like this adaptation but after giving it a second chance I still don’t like it. The music doesn’t fit, the comedy is trying too hard, Knightley is unlikable, I don’t like the way it’s shot, most of the sets are ugly, and the weird addition of a nosebleed during THAT scene. The only thing I can think of that I like are the costumes and Anya’s performance.

Midsommar

Florence’s portrayal of grief felt very realistic, definitely hit close to home, and was absolutely the highlight of the movie. Seeing Dani smiling as she’s watching her abusive boyfriend burn alive was also pretty great. But the rape scene was completely unnecessary, and coupled with the ableism throughout it ruined what could otherwise have been a great movie.

Zombieland

Why does Jesse Eisenberg play the same unlikable character in every movie?

American Psycho

If I had a nickel for every time Matt Ross played a closeted gay man attacked in bathrooms, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Radium Girls

I can’t believe I had to learn about these girls from social media. Their story should be common knowledge, especially because of the effect their lawsuits had on worker’s rights.

In the Fire

I've waited four months for the film to finally be released digitally since the first time I watched it, so I could finally understand what they're talking about in the Spanish scenes:laughing:

Zombieland

The protagonist is so incredibly unlikable I wish his neighbour would’ve killed him off and had her own movie instead. Him shooting Bill Murray was pretty neat though.
And then there’s the fact that the movie is just terribly written. What even was that ending? They made the two badass female characters do something extremely stupid just so the misogynistic main character could get a chance at being the hero and save them.

Mansfield Park

I prefer Jane Austen without rape and unnecessary nudity.

Rewatched the 1995 miniseries earlier, so of course I had to rewatch this as eyebleach.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

The Hunger Games series is basically just your average action movie, what makes it entertaining and refreshing is that they’ve given the women the interesting roles, while the men get the roles that are usually played by women. This is especially noticeable with the characters Katniss and Peeta, and the roles they play in each other’s stories.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

This series has a disgusting habit of killing off black people for the white hero’s pain.

It’s a classic with a lot of memorable scenes and funny moments, but the amount of slurs ruin what could have otherwise been a great movie.
